Those of you who were kind enough to answer our survey questions will be happy to know that we have the following guests and topics coming to Seekerville in the next few weeks:
November 25, Harlequin Super Romance author, Rogenna Brewer returns with an exclusive post on the craft of writing.
December 1 and December 2, Seekerville Presents How to Write a Query, with examples from our very own Seekers.
December 3, we'll have a down-home, Southern chat with Barbour, Heartsong Presents author, Kathleen Y'Barbo.
December 4, multi-published author, Susan May Warren will be here to share on how to get the attention of an editor or agent.
Also, Zebra Historical Romance author, Diana Cosby is returning to teach on those dreaded synopsis. Date-to-be-determined.
And you can be sure we will be giving away lots of books!!

Romantic Sensual and Sizzling (Erotica) – Raelene Gorlinsky, Editor, Ellora’s Cave
Inspirational – Tina Colombo, Editor, Steeple Hill
Young Adult – Jennifer Heddle, Editor, MTV Books
Top Prizes: First place will receive $25, a metal bookmark with name, contest and year. Second to fifth place will receive a certificate. First to fourth place will have their names printed in the RWR
Soon we'll be sharing our favorite sites for holiday gifts for writers. But I couldn't wait to share this site. If you are a Jane Austen fan, no doubt you'll order one of these Pride and Prejudice games for yourself and one for a friend.
Pick a couple from the novel and maneuver them through town and the countryside. Experience Regency Life, answer questions about the book, then race to the Parish Church to marry and win the game!That's it for this weekend's edition ....see you this week!

ReplyDeleteSince we're having fun on the weekend, does anybody know approx. how many people in ACFW are in RWA?
I think the Linda Howard contest is open to RWA members only.
So, I'm just wondering if your notice of need for inspy will cause a flood of entries, or not. :)
Also, do many people go to both conferences?

ReplyDeleteIt would be lovely if you signed your name. Anonymous is so impersonal.
There are 9 thousand members in RWA. ACFW has about 1500 to 2 thousand members. How many are in both? How many people go to both conferences? No clue.
Hopefully sharing the info will cause enough people to enter to save the category. Traditionally most entries arrive for a contest at the last minute.
Perhaps a post discussing the merits of both organizations is warranted. However it isn't a comparison. They are very much apples and oranges.

ReplyDeleteI go to both the RWA conference and the ACFW conference any year when financially possible. I love them both, but for different reasons. A couple of years I had to pick one, and that was a terrible thing! So hard to do.
From what I can remember, there seems to be pretty large group of people that I see at both conferences. Both are excellent organizations definitely worth joining!
