Seekerville Valentine's Day Special

All you need is...
Welcome to our Seekerville Valentine's Day tribute.

In order to win a little chocolate all you have to do is correctly guess one of the 15 trivia questions and have your name put in the heart (similar to hat) for one of 15 pieces of chocolate.

The more you get correct the more chances you have to win, but you can only win ONCE. Winners will be posted on Saturday--Valentine's Day, along with the answers.

1. Do you know the full first and last name of the love matches for Venus Chau, Lex Sakai and Trish Sakai in these Camy Tang, Sushi Series Zondervan releases?

Can you name the hunks?

2. In Janet Dean's release, from Steeple Hill Historicals, Courting Miss Adelaide, Adelaide Crum and Charles Graves live in what town, in what state? Also the same town where her second book in the series, Courting the Doctor's Daughter, is set!

3. Barbour author Mary Connealy has released three books in her LASSOED IN TEXAS SERIES.

All you have to do is match the heroine to her hero. Can you do it?

Hannah or Grace or Sophie and Daniel or Clay or Grant

4. Myra Johnson is so romantic. Check out the cover of her Abingdon Press, September, 2009 release and then tell us the name of her new romantic blog.

5. In honor of Seekerville's newest published author, Glynna Kaye let's see if you can figure out who is the author of these romantic lines, and which novel?

My Dearest Allie,

I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real. And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives, I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees, learning from each other and growing in love. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you.
Noah

6. Nicolas Cage said this in what romantic movie?
"I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss of her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. "

7. Everyone knows Julie Lessman, author of the Daughters of Boston series, is a GWTW fan.

“No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you! You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how." Rhett Butler, Gone With The Wind

But do you know the year that Gone With the Wind was published and the year it was released as a film?

8. Missy Tippens has a great opening line in her Steeple Hill, Love Inspired release Her Unlikely Family. “If there was one thing Josie Miller knew, it was the smell of a rich man. And whoever just walked into the diner smelled like Fort Knox.” What's the name of the diner?

9. Debby Giusti has released 4 books with Steeple Hill, Love Inspired Suspense with a fifth, Protecting Her Child, coming in May 2009.

Tell us which of her heroes is your favorite ( Luke, Jude, Nolan or Matt)-- for chocolate.

10. Who is the literary hero who says these lines?

"You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. "

11. Cheryl Wyatt has a wonderful series called Wings of Refuge. What branch of the military are these heroes and what is their specialty?

12. This is easy. Just share your favorite all time love song, like these classics:
Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
Me and You by Kenny Chesney
I do Cherish You by 98Degrees
When You Say Nothing At All by Keith Whitley

13. Speaking of songs: Where were you when you first heard this song?

14. One of the Seekers wouldn't mind a front seat to see this hero play.

Which Seeker and who is the Valentine?

15. Jane Austen fans can name all the Men of Austen. How many can you name without checking out the link? Chocolate if you can list at least four!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

  1. Oh be still my heart!!!

You actually brought him to Seekerville! And decorated him!

All right, I mustn't give hints, that would be so unfair.

    Cheating is wrong, wrong, wrong.

    Right, everyone????

But I did bring some YANKEE fried dough, freshly dusted with cinnamon sugar OR powdered sugar, just like you get in YANKEE STADIUM during baseball season. Great to munch on while watching your favorite shortstop make history while enjoying the American past time we love so much!

There's fresh coffee, too, and I restocked the diet sodas gals and guys, and brought in two cases of Snapple, just because I'm THAT nice.

    Good luck!

    Ruthy

But...I didn't know the answers to any of these, so I cheated. :-) Had to look it up.

Desperation for chocolate can make a girl do crazy things.

  12. It's Bud's Diner in Missy's book.

This is addictive, but I really love chocolate.

  14. Mr. Darcy, you say the darndest things

  15. Tina, what a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Cathy, great picture! You and Jessica get a cyber hug for knowing the setting for Courting Miss Adelaide and Courting the Doctor's Daughter.

Ruthy, he is awfully cute! Well worth the calories I'm ingesting in his honor. Yummy!

Although no one has gotten some of the more OBVIOUS ones!!!

Hey, I've drizzled glaze over some of the fresh fried dough. It's a maple glaze and I think it's wonderful but I think anything that's mega-calories and sweet is wonderful.

  19. Good Morning, Jessica, Debra, Rose and GRITS. Thanks for playing Valentine trivia in Seekerville.

  20. 2. Noblesville, Indiana
    3. Sophie & Clay, Grace & Daniel, Hannah & Grant
    7. GWTW released in 1936, movie in 1939 - Doesn't everybody know that?
    10. Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice, of course!
    12. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
    13. Who can remember that far back?
    14. Ruthy & Derek Jeter
    15. Mr. Darcy of P&P, Captain Wentworth of Persuasion, Mr. Knightly from Emma, and from Sense & Sensibility I remembered Willoughby and Colonel Brandon but I could't remember the hero, so I cheated a bit and looked. It was Edward Ferrars, but in my defense, he was rather an unheroic hero.

  21. Tina & Janet,

  30. Question 12 - that's easy, favorite love song. No one can get that wrong.

I love you. You love me. We're a happy family; With a great big hug, And a kiss from me to you...won't you say you love me too.

Ahhhh that is always a heart breaker for me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mary's favorite song, made famous by a big, hulking purple dinosaur.

    Oh mylanta!

I have a lot of 'favorites'.

They're from different categories, but I'll go with "our" song from yesteryear, Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart"...

We've aged to "Remember When" by Alan Jackson and Kenny Rogers "Through the Years."

    I'm loathe to admit that!

    Ruthy

    ReplyDelete
  32. Debra, here's a quote from the dialogue of Last of the Mohicans.

No, you submit, do you hear? You be strong, you survive... You stay alive, no matter what occurs! I will find you. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey, next week we're going to try loukoumades, a Greek fried dough dredged in cinnamon and honey, but I'm going to do a real maple syrup variety.

When writing makes me rich, I'm opening a bakery.

    Ruthy

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mary, is that quote a promise or a threat?

As a promise it totally rocks. Who doesn't want someone to be THAT devoted???

Oddly, it works well as a threat, too!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Vince and Patricia, nicely done. You rock.

Oh, boy Debra, the last of the Mohicans is soooo romantic. Sigh-worthy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mary, the Barney song? Did you listen to those song links I posted yet. They are so much more romantic than BARNEEEEE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Good grief, Ruthy, can you tone down the hints just a bit!

    ReplyDelete
  38. No, you submit, do you hear? You be strong, you survive... You stay alive, no matter what occurs! I will find you. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you.

Gives me chills every time! Sigh.

However, I couldn't figure out why the women didn't jump too.

I would'a ripped off that skirt and jumped.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, P.S. I got a bit too much candy, not a LOT, y'know, but maybe just a bit too much.

So if we don't get enough winners, I'll send my candy to Ruthy, but I'm going to eat about half of it first, 'k?

Not looking good for writing, is it?

    ReplyDelete
  47. With all the eating we do in Seekerville, what's the most romantic dinner?

My many choices, but since I'm a die hard meat and taters woman, give me rare prime rib with new red potatoes, lemon butter asparagus and of course, fudge ice cream cake with coconut frosting.

    Yumbola!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oooh, Audra, NOW you're talking. There's a little hole-in-the-wall about 4 miles from me that has melt-in-your-mouth ribeyes, baked potato, Texas toast, and salad for about $15 bucks.

Dh and I drove home from Branson, MO last summer (a 9 hour drive) and stopped there to eat instead of stopping somewhere else along the way.

    It's that good.

Well, we were coming home ANYWAY, but you get the idea.

  49. I suppose my fav song of all time is My Girl by the Temptations.

    But I love

That never has been broken by the wind.
    Our love with last forever
If we’re strong enough to bend.

For years we have stayed together,
    As lovers and as friends.
What we have will last forever
If we're strong enough to bend.

And my very VERY favorite, the one I always request at wedding dances....

  51. Fudge Ice Cream Cake - so simple it's embarassing

1 pkg Duncan Hines (or your favorite) cake mix -- I make mine fudge

1 carton French Vanilla Ice Cream

    1 can Coconut frosting

Make the cake per instructions; 2-9 inch rounds; cool

Soften ice cream and spread thickly on top of one round. Top with other round. Freeze hard.

    Next day,frost.

    Good stuff!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. OMGosh. Thank you, Audra!!

  53. Tina,
You are too, too cool, girl! Love it. Happy Valentine's Day to all!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Tina,

I'm coming back for a couple more chances at chocolate :)

My favorite love song is "Some Enchanted Evening." I looked up who sang it but it isn't someone famous to me. Talk about romantic. How do I swoon in an e-mail??

I first heard it when my mother and I watched the movie musical of "South Pacific."

    It goes like this:

    Some enchanted evening
    You may see a stranger,
    you may see a stranger
    Across a crowded room
    And somehow you know,
    You know even then
    That somewhere you'll see her
    Again and again.

    Some enchanted evening
    Someone may be laughin',
    You may hear her laughin'
    Across a crowded room
    And night after night,
    As strange as it seems
    The sound of her laughter
    Will sing in your dreams.

    Who can explain it?
    Who can tell you why?
    Fools give you reasons,
    Wise men never try.

    Some enchanted evening
When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you
    Across a crowded room,
    Then fly to her side,
    And make her your own
Or all through your life you
    May dream all alone.

    Once you have found her,
    Never let her go.
    Once you have found her,
    Never let her go!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rogers and Hammerstein. I love Some Enchanted Evening.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi Carol:

I saw Robert Goulet do ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ in the Tulsa performance of ‘South Pacific’. He used no microphone but his very robust voice filled the entire opera house. It was the most memorable live song I have ever heard sung. It was almost a show stopper.

One point here. Just before he sings this song, he asks the heroine to marry him. I think it would be very difficut to be more romantic that. You are so right!

    Thanks,

    Vince

  57. 5) The Notebook
    6) City of Angels
    10) Mr. Darcy whose first name is George.

    Patty Smith Hall

    ReplyDelete
  58. I was wrong--It's Mr. Knightly whose first name is George.

    Patty Smith Hall

  59. Oh this was too much fun!

I made so many whipped cream and strawberry heart cakes last night at the bakery that my hands are stained pink from the glace.

And Cara! These were Florida berries, and they were delicious! Wonderful stuff from O'Brien farms.

Anyway, I love South Pacific. Love Some Enchanted Evening. Love Darcy and P&P.

Might have to watch at least PART of it this weekend.

Fitzwilliam is Mr.Darcy's first name according to something I read, but I don't remember if it's actually in the book or someone made that up. So entirely possible.

And I ate SOME of my chocolate for our prizes, but I was smart enough to buy extra because we all know I have no will power when it comes to chocolate.

And Audra, I'm soooooooooo trying that layered ice cream cake, although I think I'd like the cake sandwiched between the ice cream layers and have the ratio 2:1 the other way.

With the coconut topping (very easy to make, guys, don't even have to buy it. Melt 1/4 cup of butter. Add 2/3 cup brown sugar. Stir in 7 oz. bag of coconut and 2/3 cup nuts, if you like nuts in it. Add a tablespoon or so of milk. Stir over medium heat until smooth, just a minute or two.

    Spread on cake.

    So yummy.

    Ruthy

  60. Debra, Last of the Mohicans is my all time fave movie and I LOVE that line!

Mary, chocolate for breakfast? Yum. Can I come over? LOL As for being intrepid, well, now I gotta wonder what you told your kids when they were growing up. *snickering*

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hey, thanks for chiming in your support for "Some Enchanted Evening" as the ultimate love song.

It's an oldie and a goodie. It says something that I can still get chills thinking about seeing and hearing that movie performance for the first time although it has literally been decades. I was just a kid yet that set my standard for romance.

I also really like the theme from "The Way We Were" but it ends too sad to be a genuine romance for me.

    Cathy

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yes, Darcy's first name was Fitzwilliam and yes, it's in the book. I think it was only mentioned once. It makes you wonder why they had first names when no one ever called them by their first names.
