  2. Thanks for sharing, Tina! Even when I do finish my manuscript (Ugh, I almost said "if," which means the Great Pumpkin won't come. I am sincere! I am! "Nothing by sincerity as far as the eye can see!"), I don't know if I'd be brave enough to send the work of my heart into the boxing ring, so to speak. ;) But good luck to all those who are entering the contests!

I love all of these fall pictures, Tina, and I would love a chance to win your book! :D

  4. I had decided against entering any more contests in 2010. Then I got an e-mail from a contest coordinator about an extended deadline. I ended up sending an entry. What a pushover I am. :)

Would love to get my hands on your book.

And the detail on your cover is excellent. Just beautiful.

Would love to win the book but look forward to buying it regardless!

I brought pumpkin pancakes this morning since I went a little crazy after finding pumpkin on sale this week. Whipped cream or maple syrup?

  9. Wow! Just wow!

    Too.

    Much.

    Information.

    Brain.

    Overload.

Guess I know what I'm doing in the morning when I only have one kiddo! Because /whisper/ I have a date tonight. And my sister is taking my 3 older girls for the night. And my MIL is taking my 3yo for the evening [but not the overnight]. So while I have just him in the morning, I guess I'm researching contests ;). And that will also keep my mind off my currently dismal NaNo total. I've got to get moving on that, too, or this will be my first year to not win.

The cover looks great, Tina! I'm in!

    And yum! More pancakes!

  10. Oh man, I missed Audra yesterday. Audra, forgive me!!! Dagnabbit!

Teenster, thanks for this update, chica!

    Subtle hints...

For an Italian Diva, that probably SEEMED subtle to you. Hey, I might be Irish but I grew up in the tenth ward... Italians, Irish and Germans galore.

So contests... Oh my. GH. Rita. Gotcha.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!!!

That's kind of how I feel about contests, like Dorothy heading toward Oz, totally unsure what to expect, except I KNOW what to expect, a full spectrum of what-if's...

But a great learning and getting your name out there opportunity.

    Rock on, contest entrants!

Hey, celebrating Friday with pumpkin-spice coffee, spiced chai latte, caramel cream coffee, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread (which chocolate chips and cream cheese frosting), pumpkin muffins...

And I brought this humongous bowl of Halloween candy along because my hips do not need 30 Snickers bars.

    More's the pity.

And Amber, that time will come. And I love the coffee mug pic, btw. You're lovely.

'Member what Cat said the other day about stopping and starting? We all do that 'cause the timing has to be right, OR we have to be in a place where we can MAKE IT right. That's tricky because life intervenes.

    Mmm.. coffee... contests...

    And snow predicted for tomorrow.

    Diggin' out the mittens.

  11. Tina,

Love the cover for Rancher's Reunion! Beautiful.

I just told someone the other day I wasn't going to enter anymore contests this year, but the Gotcha Contest intrigues me. I might have to cave and enter.

Thanks for all the contest information.

Don't enter my name into today's drawing I already have an IOU for Rancher's Reunion and can't wait!

    Great as usual.
I thought I'd try the Gotcha again this year and see if anything happens.
    Can't hurt, right?

Besides, I'm trying out a new ms, so the feedback will be helpful.

  14. Thanks for the update, Tina!

I have a short story that I'm definately going to enter in the WOW-Women on Writing contest and if I can fit getting the submission ready inbetween my NaNoWriMo project, then I have a children's manuscript I'm going to enter in the Pike Peaks contest.

I love your book cover...can you share the blurb or teaser page with us?

  17. Will Sullivan’s reason for refusing marriage is his
biggest secret. To Will, it’s part of his legacy, like
    the family’s ranch.

But then the woman he has
secretly loved since childhood returns home after
two years. Abandoned as a child the way he was,
    Annie Harris understands him.

    But she doesn’t
know the real reason keeping him a bachelor.

A missionary nurse, Annie is planning to leave
soon. Especially when a senseless scandal
involving her threatens the ranch—and Will’s
    future.

But can he trust in rekindled love to see
that Annie just might be his future?

  24. I'm so excited! Zondervan is entering The Healer's Apprentice in the Rita, in the Young Adult category no less, and they're entering it in the National Reader's Choice Awards too. Actually, it's scarier now than when I was unpublished. Not sure exactly why. Maybe because it's too late to make improvements if it bombs!

    ReplyDelete
  25. And I can't wait to read your book, Tina, and Audra's too! But Ruthy will kill me if I don't read hers first, so I'm making a note to self ... preserve your life by reading Ruthy's book ASAP ...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the reminder, Tina. I've got my first ever RITA entry form printed and need to get it mailed in.

I'd like to encourage all you unpublished writers to enter contests. It can be a tremendous boost if you final, and if you don't, the judges comments can be help you see which areas you need to focus on improving.

Love the cover of your book!

  39. Tina -

We're bringing the 3yo home with us ;). But dinner without children is always nice!

The way it works around here, it seems, we dish up dinner for the kids [usually straight from the stove. What? You put it all on the table and serve from there? Is that legal?].

Get four kids drinks. One needs a lid. But that one doesn't have poptop doohickey in it. Find a different cup. That one is still dirty. Having the kids empty the dishwasher is great until they don't realize that there's still gunk in the cup. Finally settle on a Mickey Mouse cup only to have a fit thrown that it's not the CARS cup. Decide he needs to make do because the CARS cup is the one with gunk in it. After pouting for about 5 minutes, he'll drink out of whatever cup it's in. As long as it's chocolate milk.

Get my meal. [DH is gone 2 nights a week, 1 night a week we both have Bible studies at different churches so it's like a sandwich].

    Sit down.

'Mom, I'm done. Can I have more?'

Since it's spaghetti and I really don't want to clean up spilled meatball off my floor, I get it.

    Sit back down.

    'Mom, can I have more?'

    Repeat once more.

Sit down, but wait. There's chocolate milk all over the floor from one of the kids old enough to not need a lid.

    Clean it up.

    Sit back down.

Get first kid thirds because she loves spaghetti

    Sit down again.

    Take a bite.

    It's cold but filling.

    ;)

Tonight... none of that! Someone will bring me breadsticks and soup and five cheese ziti or the new lasgna roll thingies and all I can drink. And it'll probably be so hot I have to wait a few minutes to eat it.

But hey - that does sound a bit like romance doesn't it ;)?

Romance is... not having to make dinner?

I may also get to go shopping for a digital voice recorder since my bday is Monday and MIL will likely give me my card tonight when we drop the 3yo off.

And then in the morning - if the 3yo lets me sleep in, I'll sleep in then contest :). Or fold clothes. One of the two ;)

  40. Um no idea how I ended up with that many posts there... Or how it got so long...

  42. @ Tina - I mean, even the contest for Reader's choice looks like it has to be submitted by the author. Are there any where a reader can read something and think it deserves an award and submit the title for a contest? ok I didn't check out all the links so maybe some of those listed are set up that way. Seems like every year I see a list somewhere or other(I read a lot of romance so not just inspirational entrees) and I wonder 'how in the world did that book win when I read one that was so much better?'! And I never seem to know there had been a vote til it was all over with! I wanna vote!! :-)

  45. Tina~ I'd love to win your book. With the number of new LI authors I'm encountering in Seekerville(new as in I've never read them before) I'm going to be spending a lot more money on LI books. Not to mention non-LI books. So I need to win as many of them as possible.

    andeemarie95@gmail.com

The contests sound exciting and scary. One side of my brain is jumping up and down saying "Yeah, yeah! Do it! Do it!"

The other, more rational side is saying, "Simmer down, you. All you have written is less than two chapters of NaNoWriMo quality work. Maybe next year." This is the side I will be listening to.

Hopefully, by the time the contests roll around next year, my baby will have been through enough edits that the thought of throwing her to the wolves won't make me want to hurl!

Good Luck to all you entrants! Let us know how you do.

  46. Susan I entered the same msc in the GH four times (I entered other as well) but that msc finaled twice of four unchanged.

  53. @Pepper -

    How did you know?!

We went to Olive Garden then B/N [where I looked for Seeker books =D. Found a couple then DH was like 'let's go' and I was like but I 'KNOW' them! and he so didn't care ;)].

Then Best Buy. Then Target, including costume clearance [TONS of dog costumes] then Walmart and costume clearance [still no Batman for the little man - ah well, he's got a Superman]. Then off to the ILs to pick DS3 up and come home.

It was very nice. And now I am ready to go to sleep! Maybe DS3 will sleep in... but I'm not counting on it :p.
