ReplyDeleteMy feet are FREEZING thank you very much. I live in a very old and drafty and rickety weensie little house and every room has a wind chill factor. :-) So to warm myself I am having tea. Lovely cranberry and apple in an infuser cup no less. It's divine. And I am totally in love with that Dunk Mug. How ingenious is that???? I have to run to England to get one. :-)

Dump Cake Recipe
ReplyDeleteIngredients:
•1 (20 ounces) can crushed pineapple, undrained
•1 (21 ounces) can prepared more fruit cherry pie filling
•1 (18.25 ounces) box yellow cake mix
•2 sticks of butter or margarine, each cut into 12 slices
•1/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice - optional)
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (325 for glass baking dish). Have a 9 by 13-inch baking pan ready.
Dump undrained pineapple baking dish or pan and spread it out evenly.
Using a spoon, dump globs of cherry pie filling evenly on top of the pineapple.
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the cherry and pineapple layers.
Cut butter into slices with a butter knife and place slices evenly over cake mix.
Sprinkle nuts on top if you're using them.
Bake for one hour. Use heavy oven mitts to remove the dump cake from oven or let your older helper do it.
To serve, scoop cake out with a large spoon like a cobbler, and dump it on a nice plate. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is delicious with dump cake. Serve warm or cold.
Yield: about 10 to 12 servings

ReplyDeleteWe aren't big on them in Seekerville. We realized a long time ago that Followers is just a little widget. We have far more lurkers than followers. Which frankly is much less scary for us since WE DO RUN WITH SCISSORS AROUND HERE.
But we also noticed that we had 17 THOUSAND visitors in the last 30 days.
So we are gearing up for a visit by either Oprah or the Pope soon.
Consider this a warning. Make sure you take out the hair rollers and put on your best robe from now on when you visit us. We're in the big time now.
Oh hey just so you know I was at Hannah's blog, Project Journal as a guest on Thursday for her Christmas celebration! It's so much fun there!

Ohhhh -- thanks for the dump cake recipe. It looks much nicer than it sounds. :-) But can somebody tell me how many cups or how many oz. 1 stick of butter is? You don't mean a whole 1lb do you ? Cause that is the only way I have seen it sold up here...and it's more of a block then a stick.

My dump cake is a little more basic. It involves dumping three cans of cherry pie filling into the pan, spreadig it evenly, putting the cake mix on top of the cherries, and then drizling two sticks of melted butter over the cake mix.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, it works. And you can use blueberry pie filling, too.
Also, how can you watch the Oklahoma-Nebraska game and not see the Auburn - South Carolina highlights.
(Being an Auburn fan, I greatly enjoyed that game.)
Looking forward to the Auburn-Oregon game. My boys were born in Oregon, so they're a little conflicted.
And while I always look forward to every Seekerville post, I'm especially looking forward to tomorrow. I just finished Doctor in Petticoats and thought it was hilarious. I also developed a reader crush on Mandy, the focus of "Sharpshooter." (I do admit that if I was actually a character in the book, she would probably be a little young for me.)

Mary~ You called Tina Teenee. It's funny to me because my DD calls my sister [Tiffany] Aunt Teenie. She can say Tiffany now, but the nickname just stuck. (My nephew still calls me Aunt Ninny, and he's turning 16 in two months, so I'd say Tiffany will be "Teenie" for many years to come).

1 large can sliced peaches dumped in cake pan
1 butter cake cake mix dumped in pan (dry)
1 Stick margarine (cut up or melted in microwave) on top
Bake 350 until golden brown.
Serve with vanilla ice cream
