(Hey... pssst....Secret Agent 006 here... if you send me pics or quotes or quick thoughts on NYC, I'll post 'em here. This is YOUR CHANCE TO FOOL THE TEENSTER... She'll never know, she's mid-flight. Send them to loganherne (at) gmail (dot) com) Shhh.....

(SHE. WILL. KNOW. ~~SINCERELY, THE QUEEN)

This week launches the RWA National Conference in NYC. TWO THOUSAND romance writers will be descending upon the city.

With almost half of the Seekers traveling the Weekend Edition is up today. We will still be offering the First Five Pages Critique. Just let us know you want in. Winner announced next weekend.

We Have Winners!

Contact Seekerville through our new web email if you are a winner and if needed, provide your snail mail address. Please note our giveaway rules in the right lower column of Seekerville. All prizes are mailed within 6-8 weeks of winner announcements. But if we goof up, holler.

Please be advised that due to the Canada Postal Strike, Seekerville is temporarily suspending snail mail prize delivery to Canada-does not include internet delivered prizes.

(However it is likely the strike may be over by the time this edition goes to press!)

Sunday Seekerville shared another Friend-of-Seekerville first sale. Writing as Mia Ross, Andrea Chermak has sold the first book of the Sawyer series to Melissa Endlich of Love Inspired books. Winners of friends of Seekers books are Edwina and Virginia.

Tuesday Abingdon Press author Sherry Kyle shared Creative Spaces. Winner of her new release: Delivered with Love is Kayleen.

Hope you didn't miss the return visit of Jacqui Jacobi on Wednesday, with Forward Motion. Winner of a Barnes & Noble, Gone With the Wind book bag is Nancy Kimball.

Thomas Nelson author Catherine Richmond was our guest on Friday with her version of the writer's journey. Winner of her release, Spring for Susannah, is Carol M.

Next Week In Seekerville

Monday: 2011 Golden Heart finalist and debut Tyndale author Pam Hillman is your hostess today.

Tuesday: Avalon debut author Sandra Leesmith shares today in Seekerville. And pssst...it's her birthday on Tuesday. Sandra's post is called "The Library-A Writer's Delightful Friend." The library is not only a resource, but librarians can be one of your best publicists. She'll be giving away a copy of her new release Price of Victory!!

Wednesday: The July Contest Update is here already. And the prize vault is open.

Thursday: We are Live from RWA New York City with photos and chit chat from the Tuesday Literacy Signing. Expect a chance to win some free books today!

Friday: More Live from RWA New York City. We promise inside photos from the PASIC reception at the famed Algonquin Hotel, random photos from the conference, and maybe some from the Harlequin RWA Pajama Party. (Sunday we bring the RITA /GH photos and photos from the Harlequin Ball at the Waldorf Astoria.)

Random News & RWA NYC Conference

I hope we've provided enough links to keep you busy all weekend!

  • Historical Newspapers Archive. You can access an online database of more than three million newspaper pages published between 1860 and 1922. Pay special attention to the advertisements, so much info to be gleamed about prices and styles and attitudes.

  • Free beverage! Thanks to Seeker friend Carol Moncado for introducing Seekerville to the wonders of writing at Panera. Real food. Great java. And if you go to mypanera.com and register they will give you a free beverage and a rewards card.

Finally, some links to reviews and info on the conference hotel which may provide insider info for you.

That's it for this week. Look for any Seeker at the Tuesday Literacy Signing and there is a slight chance one of us might know where we are all meeting to chat LATE, LATER, and MUCH LATER that evening. We'd love to have you join us (as soon as we figure out where we would love you to join us.)

  1. First in! Coffee's ready. Oh my stars, Teenster, this is GRRRREEEEAAAT!

    Just call me Tony-the-Tiger!

And those of us left holding down the mainland fort will be at your beck and call if you need us girls! Just holler.

(Like NYC doesn't have ENOUGH to do)

Have fun! There is no place on Earth like New York City. Amazing.

  2. Did y'all bring your paintbrushes and buckets of red paint?

Have fun, fun, FUN. Congrats to all the winners last week and we're so excited to hear who will win coming up!

Mornin' Ruthy! Thanks for the early goodies. Will check out the links, Tina. Lots to enjoy here!

(PS - I cried on Thursday, surprising myself quite a bit. When everyone hovered, asked what was wrong, all I could do was blubber "No! It's PAWmazing. It's been 28 dog years and it's finally in my hand." You see, my DH sent me to Michigan to literally watch my book be manufactured. And following Mary's lead, I kept it next to me all night.)

Did pick up 2 Mary Connealy books on sale yesterday to round out my Sophie's Daughters collection =D.

PLUS Stealing Jake is on my Kindle!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!

And please whisper a little prayer. Blue screen of death on the laptop. Not sure if it's fixable or not. Thank God for Carbonite and Dropbox, but hadn't saved the checkbook to Dropbox and dunno how to download just one file from Carbonite and onto a different computer. You can bet I'm gonna find out though.

    Would love a critique :).

  10. Hey, girls!!! I wish I was going to RWA this year with you all. Well, sort of. Mostly. Alright, I'm not that big on traveling, and the thought of New York City scares this little country girl from the Deep South, but I would like to be there Wed. morning for the National Readers Choice Awards. Ah-hem. But maybe I will make it for the 2013 conference when RWA comes to Atlanta.

Have a great time, all you who are going (you brave souls, you!)! Report back to the rest of us when you can!

    So frustrating. Grrrrr.......

    Stupid hackers.

Hope that's not what's gotten yours. So time consuming and annoying. Did I say GRRRRR loud enough?

    NO.

Just noticed I'm probably signed in as Ruth and Lacey.

  24. I had dreamed of taking the bus into the big city this week "just for a day" to visit the booksigning and hang with my peeps - especially Anita Mae Draper and the sensational Seekers...Sigh, it's not to be.

But we'll all be watching for reports and photos. Have an amazing time, everyone! I hope Inspys rock the Ritas!

    Bless her little ol' heart!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I already have my badge holder with Debby's red heart cross pin covering the ACFW logo. I never go to a conference without it. :D

Ruthy, I have to take the train to an appt on the West Upper Side on Tues am and I'm already flustered. Ugh. Why can't I bring my horse? He doesn't eat much... well, not too much.
