Glucose for the Finish-Staying Positive

Can you believe it's day 27 for Speedbo?

ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS TO GO!

Those of you who read PRICE OF VICTORY know that the heroine was a bicycle racer. You also know that racers carry a bottle of a glucose concoction to give them a boost for the final run for the finish.

So how about a boost for the finish to Speedbo? Here are some words of encouragement.

Then the Lord will guide you always and give you plenty even on the parched land. He will renew your strength, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails. Isaiah 58:11

Some of you have been speeding along and doing well. I imagine you are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. You are seeing those filled pages and can hardly wait to get to the editing.

Way to go.

Hang in there.

You're almost there.

They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings. Isaiah 40:31

Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. 1 Corinthians 9:24

But along the way there have been distractions and we still face challenges. Maybe we want to get on Facebook or the Internet. Playing is always more enticing than work. I have to turn my back on pickleball and free cell. Perhaps friends have stopped by and have tempted you to go out to lunch.

Or shopping.

No temptation has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out. 1 Corinthians 10:13

So stay the course and persevere. Keep your mind on the goal and resist those distractions.

In his mind a man plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9

Some of you have had to deal with spring break. Those little darlings do need your attention. So we deal with it and squeeze in the time we can.

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Some of us have had to face challenges and situations that weren't planned or couldn't be avoided. My Dad went into the hospital right as speedbo started. He received a pacemaker and is doing great. But sitting in the hospital turned out to be a great place to write. And it happened while I was home and could be there.

Cast your care upon the Lord, who will give you support. God will never allow the righteous to stumble. Psalm 55:23

So if you've made your goal.

Or not.

Do not despair or even think about jumping off the cliff.

Nope. Don't even think it.

Just think about all you DID accomplish.

Don't despair over what you didn't.

Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed; I am your God. I will strengthen you, and help you, and uphold you. Isaiah 41:10

And ALWAYS call on the Lord.

Out of my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. Jonah 2:3

He will give you the words you need and the encouragement. He will guide you to the end of that novel. Promise.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and WORD. 2 Thess 2:16-17

I hope these words of encouragement will spur you on to the finish. And for the body, I have my grandma's large crystal punch bowl full of sliced oranges off my tree mixed with chopped walnuts and shredded coconut.

And in case Helen hasn't made the coffee yet, I have a large urn of chocolate velvet coffee, a steaming pot of hot chocolate and for those of you in the warm climates, a large pitcher of iced tea with slices of lemon.

We would love to hear any quotes that have helped you through your challenges. Post with us today and be in the drawing for a Seeker book to treat yourself with when you've written THE END.

Today is another day of our March Speedbo. Find out more about Speedbo and our exciting weekly prizes here. Comment today for a chance to win! Winners announced in the Weekend Edition.

  1. Can't believe it's this close to the end. Not quite on schedule but 2000 a day would get me there.

Question: What is Pickleball?? Sounds REALLY fun.

Glad your dad is doing okay. It always amazes me to hear how God turns a bad thing into a good thing.

Thank you for this encouraging post. Makes me think I may be able to get in those 2000 to make the goal after all.

  2. You can do it Natalie!
My encouraging quote was always Yoda, especially when I got the "check e-mail" itch, LOL, or didn't want to even start writing for the day.

Do or do not. There is no try.

I have five days to get to those two beautiful words. I really want to know if it feels as good as the first time :-p

  3. Oh! P.S. After reading some happy reviews of AlphaSmart owners here on Seekerville, I bought one tonight. Sooo excited for it to get here. Can't wait to see how me and Aly get along. :)

  4. I love Yoda, Nancy. #1: Because he's so quotable. #2: Because he's short & just plain adorable. I can't help cracking a smile, even when he's trying to be serious.

  5. I do have the coffee ready, Sandra. Maybe some need extra caffeine at this point.

Here's a scripture that might be helpful in our Speedbo race.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. —Hebrews 12:1

  6. Ugh, I've got marshmallows, is that glucosey enough? Marshamallows for everyone, and they are in the shape of bunnies, pastel bunnies.

I'm tired, and it's a bit hard to keep up the go-get-em juice when my grandiose plan of writing the ENTIRE book in a month is now a pipedream.

Since I have 58,952 words so far, I would have at least won NANO, so I guess that's something. But when I used to write an average of 10 pages a chapter, this book is averaging 15 pages a chapter and so my guesstimate was off. I've never written such a long book, and I write lean rough drafts--hope I'm not faced with a 100+ monster. But it is what it is right now.

    Off to break 60k!

  7. Thank you so much for talking me back from the edge. I was about ready to jump.

Okay maybe not. I'm scared to jump off high places.

I was one of those who had spring break kiddo syndrome and got some sicko running around, but no excuses.

I am still writing and did about 2000 today.

Words Free has taken just a touch of my time too. Not like I don't get to deal with enough words when writing.

  8. Thanks so much for the encouraging words. My husband was asking me about how I was doing and I said I was about a third of the way to my goal before the end of the month. He did the math for me. Sigh.

The nice thing is I can see past the end of the month, now having developed a regular daily writing habit, increasing my word count daily and working through obstacles.

This quote seems to describe what I have learned and what will keep me going this week:

"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use." ~Earl Nightingale

And remembering "all things are possible with God"!

We are back to hot chocolate weather down here today!

    Peace and thanks again, Julie

  9. Just had to come back and report that I broke 60k - 61377! Night all! Or good morning, however you want to look at it. :)

  10. Wow, this was so powerful!!! I'm going to re-read this post every day until the end of Speedbo.

  11. Thanks for the encouragement and the grace that it'll be okay if I don't finish by the 31st.
Hope your dad is doing better with his new pacemaker.
    Way to go Melissa.
    Natalie, you can make it!
Nancy, I'm a Yoda fan too. This week I've put a lot of things on my "do not" list.
Honestly, I'm not going to finish by the 31st, but I don't want to quit either.
Thanks again for these encouraging words!

  12. Love the pictures. I can believe the month is almost over. I am impressed with all your commitment to do this. I admire authors. Im struggling just to write a church Newsletter on my own (But I did do a blurb about Easter!)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Of course you can make it Natalie. Go, girl, go.

And I'll tell you about pickleball in April. It is too much fun to know about during speedbo. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hi Nancy, Thanks for cheering Natalie on.

    And Yoda? Great quote.

    And yes, it feels great.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Natalie, I should have read on before answering. Yes, the Alphasmart is wonderful. You will love it. Congrats.

My Blogger just switched with this comment. How weird. Now I know what you all were talking about a couple weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi Helen, I love that scripture. And the reminder of the cloud of witnesses does keep you on the mark. smile

Thanks for the coffee. Hang in there.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow Melissa, 60,000 K IS a finished book if you write for Avalon, Love Inspired or Heartsong. That is awesome. And if you hadn't been doing speedbo would you have that many words?

woo hooo. Hang in there. Happy writing.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Tina P. You are too funny. You get away from that edge. Those children needed you, esp the sick one.

    And you were there.

    And you're still writing.

    Woooo hoooo girl. Happy writing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good morning Julie HS. Wow, you GOT IT. That is what speedbo is all about. Yes, we want to finish the goal, but you established the writing habit.

    Life happens.

But if you have the habit ingrained, you'll plow through and finish that book.

    Woo hooooooo.

    Love the quote too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hang in there Virginia.

    You WILL make it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. HI Jackie,

Yes, like Julie, you've learned that you can write more than you thought.

So don't worry about the past. Mush on to the finish.

    You'll make it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Jenny. I use my photos because fret so about copyright. At least I know I have permission to use those. LOL

And writing a church newsletter is awesome. Do you realize you are a published author if your newsletter is published? woo hook.l

Thanks for joining us. My bf is arriving home today from a month long trip to Australia. I can hardly wait to see her photos and hear all about it.

  23. Sandra!

Thank you for the encouraging words of scripture and the reminder to focus on the postitive. What we accomplished, not what we did not!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Helen,

I LOVE the scripture that you shared.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sandra, I just realized if I included all the words I discarded I would probably hit double what I have. Ah well. Actually, that is rather encouraging.

    Peace and off to write,

    Julie

  26. Thank you for all these inspiring and encouraging bible verses! It's so wonderful to know that the Lord blesses us and helps us with our endeavours :) I love that you tied in scripture with writing a novel. That's the way life should be - always held up to the light of The Word!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sandra -- Thank you for digging out all the beautiful, encouraging words from scripture and sharing them with us!

I can hardly believe the month is almost over--and I'm so impressed at how so many have "stayed the course." Your bike-racing book is such a good parallel for SpeedBo perseverance, Sandra! I'm going to have to read it again!

NATALIE -- I hope you like your AlphaSmart! I have a desk top computer, a little netbook and an Alphasmart. Between the three they give me the flexibility I to get the various phases of my writing done.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ahh ... the encouraging words were as refreshing as iced tea on an August afternoon :-)

A few quotes that have helped me:

    >> We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and a mystery. ~ H.G. Wells

    >> Learn how to sing in nobody else's voice but your own. ~ Hugh MacLeod

    >> Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
    -- Mark Twain

And two that help me through rough writing days:

    >> What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure.
    -- Samuel Johnson

    >> It usually takes more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech. ~~Mark Twain

Into the day with me ... looking forward to checking back later.

    Nancy

  29. Natalie, I hear that pickleball is addictive...

    DO NOT START.

Geriatric athletes will hound you relentlessly.

Sandra, this is the perfect post. Just wonderful. And I love the pics, but mostly how well God's word provides for our hearts and souls. Thank you!!!

The chocolate velvet coffee doesn't hurt, either, LOL!

Nancy, I'm in on Yoda!!! And even if our 'tries' take a wee bit longer than we expected, we carry on!

    Oranges/smoranges, Sandra.

I brought chocolatey goodness in the form of triple fudge brownies, hammered with chocolate chips and walnuts on half... Dark chocolate frosting with sprinkled pastel crystal sugar makes them decadent for spring!

We'll HOP to that finish line... Or do the Turtle Fast-pace Shuffle. Either way, we've got a peck-load more done than we did 27 days ago!

    You guys rock!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You got it Rose. Focus on what is done.

Its too easy to get discouraged with what we didn't do. The fact so many are still going is great encouragement.

    woo hooo

    ReplyDelete
  31. Julie HS, You go girl. Happy writing.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Morning Helen W. and thank you.

Yes, all is well when it is held up to the Word.

    Happy writing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mmmmm! Chocolate velvet coffee sounds delicious this morning! Sandra, I appreciate your words. As I've said before, I didn't participate in Speedbo this month, but these Scriptures will be great reminders for when I begin my personal "Speedbo" in a month or so. :) Words of encouragement are always timely.

A couple of things I remember when I'm discouraged with writing is that God's timing is always perfect. He will help me finish my story, in His timing. I also remember that God gave ME this story to write, not someone else. SO, I need to write it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Morning Glynna, You are my cheerleader. Thanks for pointing out how many have stayed the course. It is beautiful to think about.

    Way to go. Speedbo.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Morning Nancy C. Love those quotes.

I especially love "What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure." How true.

It always amazes me when I read that the hardest words one has written turn out to be the best received. What a miracle and that is why we love to write, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sandra,

Thank you for such an encouraging post. I really needed it today.

I actually finished my SpeedBo wip last week, and am now editing and working on the next story. The scriptures you chose are some of my favorites.

But the scripture that always gets me going whether in writing or life is Jeremiah 29:11.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ruthy girl, The triple fudge brownies are to die for. Thanks for brining them.

They go great with the oranges, however must eat the oranges first so they still taste sweet.

Then on to the brownies and CHOCOLATE.

    What a great morning. smile

And yes, pickleball is VERY addictive.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Morning Jeanne T.

What wisdom so early in the morning. smile

Yes, one thing I've definitely learned is that His timing may not be ours. chuckle

But He is faithful. And sounds like you are too.

    You'll do just fine.

  39. Nancy K--love, LOVE the Yoda quote. Say it to my kids in fact. And to myself, when I need it. :)

MELISSA J--60K is wonderful! It will be fun to see what your different-for-you book turns into. :)

JULIE--love the E. Nightengale quote! I need to remember that one.

Happy Speedbo-ing, all! Praying for you!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oooooh Kirsten, That scripture is delicious. And perfect for us authors.

Thanks and have fun with those edits. That is my favorite part. Its like working a puzzle.

  41. I LOVE all the scriptures posted. Copying them into a Word document and printing them out! They will be taped onto the wall next to my computer. I definitely didn’t reach my goal, and have only buckled down the last couple weeks of March; therefore, MY Speedbo is going to stretch into April.

I admit it… all those pictures made me want to spend a day picnicking and shopping with the Seekers! I bet there are visible rays around you guys when you get into groups with all that talent and inspiration and, OF COURSE, Godliness!

This verse helped me when we moved into an apartment I didn’t really like. The little place has grown on me, but of course, we long for a house of our own.

““He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.” –Luke 16:10

The moral of this? I have to be faithful in the small things the Lord entrusts me with so that I can be faithful in the big things He entrusts me with. This sentiment works for my writing, too. Be faithful in writing a little every day, so He will be able to trust me to write, I don’t know… on a deadline someday.

As always, enter me in the drawing.

    Whitney

    ReplyDelete
  42. Morning Whitney, You got it. So you didn't make the goal, but you have the habit now to continue on into April and WILL make it. smile

And your quote is lovely. See, you're attitude is godly also. You will be blessed.

The thing about a smaller place is that it is less to clean and maintain. That's why I love it when we are in the motorhome. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sandra, thanks for your beautiful pictures and inspiring post! Scripture encourages and edifies. Thank you, God.

Ruthy, your brownies are calling my name. Where's the napkins?

  49. Love the post - Thanks for the encouragement. My goal for Speedbo wasn't to actually finish the WIP, but to get back into a routine of writing - started out weekends only.

Since I'll be travelling the last weekend of Speedbo, I'm trying to write every day at least thru Thursday. Yesterday I wrote 1384 words!

As for the most encouraging post or words...just checking in with you gals & guys every day has encouraged me beyond measure.

    THANKS SEEKERS!

Good luck & God bless Everyone!
    PamT

  50. Morning Connie Queen, My oranges are really sweet. They even compete well with Ruthy's brownies. Honest and truly. They are my gift from God.

Sorry I was gone for a bit. Had to take the dogs on their walk. And feed the feral cats. You know, those chores that interrupt our writing. LOL

But we get the writing done anyway, don't we?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Boooo hoooo is right, Debra. Computers can be sooooo frustrating. But I know you will get the writing done in perfect time. Hang in there, girlfriend.

ps I'm praying about that computer.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pamela dear, 1384 words is awesome. And you're right. Sometimes we need a speedbo just to get back in the swing. Great going and have a wonderful trip.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks for the tips to get over that finish line, Sandra! I've got 2-3K more to go in my Speedbo project, so I should make it with a little time to spare. A couple more hills, some hairpin turns, and I'll get there.

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thank you, Sandra, for your uplifting words and pictures and those wonderful Bible verses! Love those.

I haven't really participated in Speedbo much this month. I only had about 10,000 words to go at the beginning of the month to finish my WIP, and now I'm trying to edit. A lot has been going on, though. This is spring break week and my mother is coming for a visit today for the next two days, and my MIL is supposed to come some time this week too, so ... I'm giving myself grace this week. :-) But hopefully it will work out for me to do Speedbo full-tilt the next time you Seekers do it.

And you and Cara look so good in that picture! Looks like a fun visit. :-)

  60. Morning Melanie, Hey you finished didn't you? Hooray.

This shows you planned ahead for the things coming up like spring break and visits. Great going.

After all that activity, you'll appreciate your quiet writing time again. smile

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hi Vince, Yes, my copy came yesterday also.

ACFW has come a long way and so has the writing in Christian fiction.

Groups like ACFW and RWA that strive to help writers and promote and improve their craft make it better for the genre.

Better writing = more readers = more books published.

When the Seekers started, there were hardly any Christian fiction books out there. We sure have seen a lot of growth, not only in our writing, but in the genre.

    Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Mary, Cows can be very inspiring.

When camped once in the mountains of Utah, I was deterred from my hike by range cows that chased me back to my motorhome and my writing. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  63. Morning Rebecca, I love that verse from Joshua.

Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Sandra:

Great post! I needed some cheering up today.

It’s like I just flew out of a cloud to find myself heading for a mountain range without enough time to gain the altitude to clear the tops.(I think!) I can’t turn around without stalling. I have to go for it.

If you don’t hear from me for the rest of the month, I probably did what my flight instructed said I would do if I ever messed up and that was ‘crash and burn’.

I don’t have a Bible quote today but I keep thinking of quotes from “The Price of Victory” and below is one of my favorites:

“Your peace and contentment will rub off onto others. You don’t need a trophy to buy respect. You earn it by proving you can meet life head on and handle it.”

    Vince

    ReplyDelete
  65. JEANNE T doing your own SPEEDBO in a month or two sounds like a great idea and do NOT hesitate to check in here and report and let us encourage you.

  66. Does Blogger look different to anyone else today?
My comments are all full screen width instead of a column.

Any change is scary to me.

Like I've wandered into a door forest with only bread crumbs to find my way home.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Mary, Thinking about the cows reminded me that the next day I took my pistol with me so if the cows chased me I could shoot it and scare them away. But I was so embarrassed to think that I was afraid of a cow, that I hid the gun under my sweatshirt. Then dh gets after me. "You can't be running around out here with a concealed weapon." LOL I need to put that in one of my stories.

So off topic. Sorry. But you know how the mind of a writer goes.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Mary, yes, I commented earlier. My blogger switches around though. It will be full screen for awhile with the comment box at the bottom and then it switches back to the old way with the comment box at the top.

    OH NO!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. That's a crumby situation you're in, Mar

    ReplyDelete
  71. Sandra! I so need every one of these verses. Not just for SpeedBo, but for life. This has turned out to be a crazy month for me. So many things happened: my little guys major dental work, a friend dealing with an abusive situation, another friend losing her husband in a freak car accident, a much needed parenting seminar, an unexpected date with my hubby, my son's play, mountains of laundry and dishes, my writer's workshop... the list goes on.

In light of everything, I'm thinking that 24K is a pretty good number. I'd love to read 30K, but I'll be happy to get over the 25K hump. It's the beginning/middle of my novel, so I still have a long way to go to finish the book. But SpeedBo has been a great reminder to get in as many words as I can whenever I can... to push through the brain freeze/writer's block whatever it takes... that I can and will finish the book. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh Linnette, You have had a hectic month. And you still did 24K with all that going on. I applaud you. Wow. That's awesome.

And yes, that is why we do speedbo and nano. To get the ole wheels going again.

I'm so proud of you and sounds like you're staying positive. Hang in there. Prayers coming your way.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful scripture today. Like everyone else I sorely needed it!

Natalie, I ordered my AlphaSmart on Thursday after reading Debby's post and all of the positive comments. I've wanted one since Missy's post about Writing Tools about a year ago. I got mine Saturday and I love it!! I'm sure you will too.

Linnette, sorry to hear you and your loved ones have had such a hard month! I'm sending prayers too!

Can't read/comment now for reals [but will later], but a couple quick notes...

    Passed 50K for Speedbo!

And then saw this on Facebook today:
Scrivener For Dummies coming this fall!

  76. Thanks for the glucose infusion, Sandra! :)

Love the photos! Especially of you and Cara. :)

  77. Wow, Carol, 50 K. That is terrific. Way to go.

Thanks for sharing the Facebook site.

    Happy writing.

  78. Hi Missy, That was taken when we explored Colorado before the ACFW conference in Denver.

  79. My Goodness, when I left last night there were only six comments.

Don't you people have writing to do? LOL

Sandra, thought I'd stop back by and read some posts, then amend my writing for yesterday. I wrote my 2000 words for the story, but I forgot to mention that I wrote a blog post on how I Didn't Win the 2012 HGTV Dream Home.

Also just had to let you know, it wasn't one of the wee bairns that were sick, it was the biggest one of all. My hubby. LOL

Oh and thanks so much for making me home sick with those pictures of Colorado.

    :-)

  80. Oh Tina, hubbies are the worst patients too. Hope he's doing better.

And still 2000 words is 2000 words. And a blog post too. Great going.

Are you from Colorado? Lots of Seekers and friends from there. smile

  81. what an encouraging post!! WoW! TY ;)

And this we also pray for: your all-round strengthening and perfecting of soul.

  82. Hi Faith, Hope and Cherrytea. Hey, I love the play on words, cherry tea. Is that your favorite?

    Thanks for the scripture also.

  83. Mary, my blogger screen has also gone full width today. I want our old screen back, the one from before it changed last time!

And, no, I have not gotten my ACFW Journal yet.

  84. Super, super words of encouragement, Sandra! I, for one, did not get nearly the words written on my new wip that I'd hoped to.

But I got started, and that's the important. Thing.

I don't expect to make too much more progress this week. It's our granddaughter's 7th birthday, and her mom is having a big party for her tomorrow after school. Guess who "gets" to decorate the cookie-cake.

And granddaughter wants pink flamingos on her cake!!!

Um . . . we shall see. Hubby says, "If they turn out not looking like flamingos, just say they are, and that's your story and you're sticking to it."

  85. Dear Grammar Queen:

I have no idea why "Thing" is its own sentence in my previous comment.

    Sincerely,
    Me

  86. Hi Myra, I think the new programs in blogger and yahoo write out what they think you are going to say. Very annoying. It takes so much time to stop and delete the bad word and put in the word you meant.

Sometimes it is helpful. I try to think that way, but there are times, especially when I'm in a rush when I'm not that positive. LOL

Hey, have fun with that granddaughter. Flamingos even! woohoo.

See I wrote woohooo and it changed it to woo too and then to woo hook. grrrrr

    ReplyDelete
  87. Myra, I won't tell my dh that you're making cookie cake. That is his all time favorite cake.

  88. My SpeedBo got off course a while back. That's OK, the journey through the woods and byways is unexpected and pretty. I might make it back, or I might not, who knows?!

Go SpeedBoers who are getting to the finish line!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sandra,

Yes, hubbies can be the biggest babies sometimes when they get sick. No one stays home with me when I get sick.

Although he is very helpful and caring when he gets home from work.

I'm a third generation Coloradoan. grew up there off and on when my dad was stateside, met my husband there in high school and after he got out of the military we lived there for twenty years.
This last year we were forced to move to Arizona for work, because the economy took such a down turn in Grand Junction where we lived and we lost our business.

Hopefully things will pick back up in Colorado and we may be able to go home... someday.

  90. Thank you Sandra! This is an encouraging post not only for SPEEDBO but for many things in life--WOW! (yep, another one for my Keeper File).~ I'm glad your Dad is doing well! My precious father-in-law has been in the hospital for 6 weeks, then this past Friday was moved to a hospice...so sad, but I know the Lord is in control. ~ My very favorite verse (that has helped me through so many surgeries, etc.) is from 1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. ~ I LOVE this verse, because it reminds me that no matter what I'm fretting about, I can give it to Him! Blessings from Georgia, Patti Jo :)

  91. Well, the flamingo cookie-cake is a success--at least according to my granddaughter! She came over after school and instructed me in how she wanted it done.

And yes, they look amazingly like flamingos.

Except I think I OD'd on the leftover frosting.

Wish I could save your hubby some cookie-cake, Sandra! Alas, I fear the first-graders will devour it!

  92. Sandra,
Such an inspiring post. Love your scripture and your pictures.

I'm still the tortoise, plugging along, very slowly toward the finish.

Hoping to arrive at THE END by March 31!!!

Good luck to everyone during these final days of SpeedBo!

  93. Hey Stephanie, You never know when one of those byway trips will be needed for your wip.

    Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Tina P. Its tough leaving home. But you will love Arizona. It has its own beauty. And as I said to Stephanie, you may need the experience for an upcoming wip. smile

    ReplyDelete
  95. Hi Patti Jo, Let me know HOW you do that. I always cast it out to Him and then grab it back. I need to learn to leave it there. Any hints?

I'm praying for your FIL Hospice is a real blessing.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thanks Myra, Glad the flamingos turned out. At least so your granddaughter was happy. smile

And yes, dh probably wouldn't want cake that had been in the hands of 7 year olds. LOLBut he would still smack his lips and sigh.

  97. Hey Debby, I never thought of you as the turtle, but hey you still have four more days. And miracles do happen.

    Happy writing.

  98. Sandra. I guess I hadn't thought of it I have had a few articles I had to write published in the local paper. But then they were on a subject so it didn't have to be descriptive.

  99. Sandra

    How did you know?

Fantastic post today. Thank you. Can I join y'all for lunch? We'll have the batteries charged on the laptops and have at it.

Glad to hear your Dad is doing well!!! Wow!

  100. Yes Jenny, Those articles all count in the publishing world. Great going.

  101. Yes, KC come on over. Bring May. She would love to play with the poodle. The lab is another matter. He loves to play but he's a klutz. But if May is agile, she'll have a blast.

  102. Sandra, I felt such a lovely calming as I read and reread your post today. What a great blessing.

One verse that helped keep me at the desk this month is 'Neglect not the gift that is in thee...' 1 Tim 4:14.

Hard to imagine that this month is about over. Seemed long getting here and short once it arrived.

  103. Sandra, very encouraging post! And of course I love the pictures. We certainly had fun in Colorado, didn't we? What a beautiful state. Thanks for showing me some of the most gorgeous places!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Sandra, I love your encouragement.

"In his mind a man plans his course, but he Lord directs his steps." One of my favorite verse from Proverbs. I'm always making plans that go awry, but then find the Lord's plan is better.

So, all the unplanned interuptions we might have experienced this week, are really unplanned at all--by God.

Sometimes it's tough to understand (and accept) that we're always right where we're supposed to be : )

BTW, LOVE the pic of you and Cara!!

  105. MARY--Thanks for the encouragement to check back in when I do my own Speedbo in a month or two. :) I'll do that.

Been doing a family day today at The Downtown Aquarium in Denver. Just getting back on line again. :)

Happy writing tonight for you night owls!

  109. Hi there, Sorry I was gone for a bit. Our local RWA meeting was tonight and I had to take two Seeker baskets full of Seeker books for the raffle at the Desert Dreams conference.

Hey, if any of you out there are going, Glynna and I will be there. I know there are some Seeker friends out there from around here.

Winnie Wiggs is going to be there and the local ACFW group is going to have an open house with Winnie one evening. So even if you aren't at the conference, you can come for that. We'll get more info out there.

The conference is the last weekend of April. I can hardly wait to see Glynna.

  110. Hi Lyndee, That verse from 1 Timothy is one of my favorites also.
    Thanks for sharing.

  111. Cara, wasn't that a fun day? We did have a great time driving around in the Rockies.

And it wouldn't take much for you to talk me into another day like that--even during speedbo. Oops better keep that to ourselves. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  112. Oh Audra, I'm so always where you are talking about. I think I know what the Lord wants and get impatient and then find out HIs timing was best all around.

    Hind sight is marvelous. LOL

    Happy writing.

  113. Jeanne, that's a great idea to report in. The accountability involved helps motivate and keep you on track. We're holding you to it. smile
