Weekend Edition

Welcome to a Seekerville Word Weekend!

Don't forget to claim your Speedbo prizes. We've listed them here. You have 8 weeks to claim your Speedbo prize as well as this week's prizes per our UPDATED rules here. If we forgot a mailing (remind us after 8 weeks please), give us a nudge or a kick in the pants at our Seekerville address here.

Monday, award-winning author Deborah Raney shared "Doing Time" in Seekerville, with helpful hints (born from experience) on how to keep track of story timelines. Winner of a three-book set of her Hanover Falls novels is Connie Queen. Thank you so much, Deborah!

A FESTIVAL of Stars took us on a Treasure Hunt Tuesday! Valerie Comer, Annalisa Daughety, Nicole O’Dell and Cara Putman, the authors of the novella anthology, Rainbow’s End visited Seekerville to tell us where X marks the spot. These talented and generous authors gave away FOUR sets of books in Seekerville! Thank you!

1. From Valerie Comer-Winner of  Rainbow's End and It's a Treasure Hunt (to get you started geocaching!) is Anne Payne.

2.From Annalisa Daughety- Winner of Rainbow’s End and A Wedding To Remember in Charleston, South Carolina is Jeanie C. Gordon

3. From Cara Putnam- Winner of Rainbow’s End and  A Wedding Transpires on Mackinac Island is Miss Kallie.

4. Nicole O'Dell-Winner of Rainbow’s End and  The Embittered Ruby is Paula Mowery.

On Wednesday literary agent Wendy Lawton, vice-president of Books & Such Literary presented "Show Me the Money!"...  a discussion of mid-list, "A" list and how a publishing money path works... or doesn't work!  Winner of the gorgeous gift basket Wendy donated is Ginger. Thank you, Wendy!

Love Inspired author, Audra Harders was in stealthy pursuit of clues as she snooped in drawers on nightstands and on bookshelves. Hope you didn't miss "What's on Your Shelf?"  Winner of a Mary Connealy's In Too Deep is Jamie Adams.  Winner of a Ruth Logan Herne book is Amanda Barratt.  Winners of surprise packages are: Tina Pinson, Jan Drexler and Melanie D.

Additionally, since there was such a great turnout on Thursday we have another prize opportunity:  Pam Hillman will gift an eBook (Kindle) of Stealing Jake to the first 2 commenters from Audra's Thursday post who email and request a copy. Just email Seekers@Seekerville.net and put "What's on Your Shelf: Stealing Jake" in the subject line. We have our two winners, Janet Kerr and Jackie S! Congratulations!

Finally, Tina Radcliffe would like to remind you to take Zombies seriously. The CDC does and has issued Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse.

Friday was the May Contest Update. Winners of  Jill Marie Nelson's  Rivet Your Readers With Deep Point of View are Annie Rains and Helen Gray. Winner of a Seekerville Surprise Book Package likely to contain anything including the kitchen sink, is Dawn. Winner of a 10 page critique is Sally Bradley.

Monday: On Monday join our very own Mary Connealy as she pays "A Tribute to Mothers... with apologies." As payment for reading her drivel and seeing the wretched picture she chose for Ruthy, she's giving one blessed and long-suffering reader/commenter a $25 Amazon gift card to help you enjoy a Happy Mother's Day!

Tuesday:"Let Maslow Make You a Meanie." Using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Heartsong and Abingdon Press Seeker author, Myra Johnson offers suggestions for ramping up the conflict and creating trouble for your characters. Myra will give away a copy of A Horseman's Heart.

Wednesday: Worthy Publishing debut author Nancy Herriman talks about "Perseverance" on the heels of her brand-new release, The Irish Healer. Stop by and meet Nancy and you might win a copy of her release!

Thursday: In the spirit of the week Ruth Logan Herne will be your hostess today, and  will no doubt yammer on about something funny, warm or poignant that may or may not have a thing to do with mothers or spring or writing. She will reward two of you for the gift of your time and your comment with a ten page critique and a copy of her upcoming delightfully sweet release: A Family to Cherish.

Friday: Join us as welcome back Lacy Williams with "Layering: a technique to get your manuscript to a publishable final draft." Lacy will share her personalized method for bringing a book from first draft to salable manuscript. She'll be giving away both a paperback copy and a PDF copy of her newest Love Inspired Historical, The Homesteader's Sweetheart.

As always we encourage our Friends of Seekerville to share YOUR sightings, milestones and links to YOUR events with us in the Weekend Edition.

    and

Noon at the OK Scrabble Corral.

  9. I was going to go with Helen's tray. I didn't get as many words and unfortunately ran into one that is not publishable on seekerville. That is what I get for checking to make sure they were words! I must go read a Seeker book to get nice words in front of my eyeballs.

And look at Melissa. Wow, she's good.

    Peace, Julie

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, Tinas, now I have to quit. I didn't get NO. I didn't get ON.

But worst of all, I didn't get HERO! ;-)

My brain has already headed to bed!

    Peace, Julie

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh, Julie, you are so cute.

Tinas. That would be two Tina. And three would be what?

but a pair of them, isn't too bad.

  13. I was so into the words, I didn't read the winners, and I'm one. How Awesome. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Okay, I was going to try and then I saw Helen, Melissa, and Tina's comments...

It reminded me of when I went to a party and a friend pulled out her Boggle and said, 'Let's play'. Everybody groaned and wandered away. not because it wasnt a great game (it is, and they were ALL librarians) but because this friend was some kind of crazy Boggle-tastic champion who could get 50 words where normal people could find 20. Weird.

JULIE!!! HAHAHAHA! Now I'm trying to find out what the naughty word is!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well I was all proud of my list till the comments loaded, LOL.
    I did the first tray.

Congrats to Debby and Janet! And on a side note I just finished Janet's short story in the Western brides novella from LI. Really good -- loved catching up with Callie and Jake too!

Wish I had time to come up with a list to make the rest of you envious but, well, I have a house to clean before family gets here /sigh/. Plus I'm not feeling great and my mind isn't working quite right...

Would much rather hang out with y'all. If youse all were my guests, I would be stressing myself sick...

  32. Melissa, you either have an A-MAZ-ING vocabulary and love of science, or you got a little help. :)

I don't have time to come up with a list, but I chose the back tray, and the three words that I saw quickly were: hero, dreg, and horned.

There's no three letter rule in Scrabble.

    ReplyDelete
  42. In Boogle it's a three letter rule. And when he was little, my son held us to it! Actually, a fond memory.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ah, see, never played Boggle. Too addicted to Scrabble.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Great WE, Tina!! Thanks for all the great links.

Also, congrats to all the winners! I'm astounded at the entries today as well. I'm TERRIBLE at Scrabble! (and Boggle). Strange, isn't it??

  47. I am a little concerned that everyone's playing Scrabble...when they should be preparing for the zombie apocolypse! Tina did warn us.

As for me, I don't have a flashlight, batteries, or bottled water ready, but I'm all set with Pop-Tarts. I don't know why I keep buying them every week. I guess there are some things you just can't risk running out of.

BTW, there are some master level Scrabble players here. Maybe there should be a Seekerville tournament!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anne, I figure I'll skip the supplies and just call CASTLE to come help. He loves it all so!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Which apparently is the correct answer because if I pretend the l is really an L then I can spell CASTLE out of the bottom tray.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. POP TARTS and bottled water. Flashlight! I am ready!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. HAHA Jeanne T. I wonder when someone was going to call me on that! Especially since I said "the two possible words" I was kinda amazed I was getting away with it--or that you all are way too nice in refraining from calling out a lying, sneaking scrabble thief.

Hint:It's the same reason why everyone thinks I'm a computer genius.

Yeah, I hate scrabble. I had help. There are actually 179 words possible in the Sinceta group, just so you know.

I think Tina is going to take away my 50 bonus points. :(

  70. Thank you for the 2 books from Cara that I won. Now I can mark off 2 from my wish list and add more. I don't understand why my list keeps getting longer. lol
So many great books and new authors for me to read.
Congrats to all the other winners.

I shiver at the thought of cutting up a book. I don't even like to see a page turned down and try to read without damaging the spine of my books. I guess I am a little nuts about my books. lol
