ReplyDeleteTea, what can I say I dont drink it.
In saying this I do have some really pretty tea cups. I have most of mums and back then it was crazy teacup sets. So none of them match but they are pretty.
I also have a tea pot with the milk jug and sugar bowl which were made during WW2 by some Italians in an intern camp in Australia where my uncle was a guard. They have the Australian' rising sun insignia on the front and used buttons from the uniforms on the lids.
And for Ruthy if she didn't see my post from today (yesterday) I loved the first episode of Once upon a time and am reading book 4 of the Men of Allegany (sp) series. read book 2 and 3 in the past couple of days and a third into book 4.
I am a huge fan of Tetley's Earl Grey tea with the drawstring tea bags. Yes, the draw strings are important! You must trust me!!!

About tea, I do drink it, but not as much as I drink coffee. I try to buy tea cups when I visit new places. So, none of mine match. I have one from Istanbul, Turkey, and one from Switzerland.

Anyway, tea... My favorite one is Diet Snapple. Easy. Quick. Fits in my hand. I bring it to every single tea party and it's a HUGE HIT. I like the lemonade tea variety, but it's in short supply, so peach, raspberry or lemon are the most commonly found in Ruthy's fridge. ;)

ReplyDeleteI have now done the last 2 Saturday mornings at the bookshop as they have been so short of volunteers. last week I read some of Camy Tangs LIS and today about 60 pages of yuletide hearts. (thats after reading close on 120 pages yesterday afternoon of book 3). I had a break to play solitare as I was feeling a little to stuffed up to think. I ended up going to bed at 7pm last night and finished book 3. Tonight I feel even more stuffed up and think it will be off to bed without any reading. I love reading different areas and seeing we all have the same issues. My town is smallish 5,000 but the job market is not easy. I know a job will come but it will take time. But we face similar issues except the gun issues. So its nice to learn about new places.
(am wondering if my tour next year to historical places goes into NY State. I know I go got Washington DC and I know I go to Gettysburg which I am so excited to go to.)
On a side note. Next thursday is the big morning tea. Its Australia wide and its a fund raising to help fight cancer. People will have a morning tea and people will leave a donation. I know here the cancer support group is having a morning tea and asking people to take there favourite Teapot and there will be prizes for different catagories.

ReplyDeleteI am a tea fanatic. I come by it naturally. My sisters and I split our grandmother, Lovely Mae's (yes, that was her name)tea cup collection and still ended up with over a dozen covered in violets, pansies, intricate designs of all kinds.
Even better, I married Man O who inherited his grandmother's tea caddy.
Now there is a match made in tea heaven!

I love to try different flavors, but as corny as this may sound, my favorite early morning tea is still Lipton's. I sweeten it with Tevia.

Well in that case then, I got another rejection letter, although this one was personalized. That's a plus right? Said knowledgeable agent suggested civil war and Amish is what is selling right now. I can't write Amish, because it just doesn't interest me. I could write a civil war, maybe after I finish the western I want to write next.
My more exciting news is the hero in my Western folds origami. I saw that in my head yesterday and went, Really??? But he does, and apparently very well. I've already vetted the plausibility of that in research and it totally works. =)

I forgot to mention my favorite tea is cold Oolong. I got hooked on it when we lived in Japan and have been dependent ever since. My hubby says it tastes like dirt but I think it's delicious. Just goes to show you...

She has my mystery, PORTRAIT OF A DEAD GUY, releasing August 28. Fast, but Henery Press has been wonderful to work with, very supportive with a firm hand in editing. ReplyDeleteThere's a shop in the village here in midtown called "The Republic of Tea". I've never been in there but it looks pretty cool.
I'm not tea connoisseur. Unless its terribly brisk, or too weak, I can drink it. Sweet or unsweet.
But my absolute favorite is the ginger-peach bottled tea at Saltgrass Steakhouse. Totally worth the five bucks a bottle.
Well then you should stop at Republic of Tea, Nancy. They are the creators of the original ginger peach tea.

Yeehaw! My internet is fixed -- does that count as exciting news worthy of Seekerville? LOL. I've been without at home for about a month and uber busy at work (slogging away running two book fairs because I have two schools) so I couldn't get online much. :-( So now I get to play major catchup this long weekend. Hooray for the nice cable guy who climbed to the top of the hydro pole and replaced the corroded something or other!!!! Not to mention giving me a new modem and thinking my dog was well-behaved. Snort -- that's just because he didn't arrive bearing a squirrel.

Russia and Ukraine have amazing tea. Some of the best tea I've ever had was sold loose. It was some kind of black tea infused with rose hips, I think, and I had to put it in a wire mesh "tea ball" in my cup and pour hot water over it. I love drinking tea like that.

I love tea. My father goes to a tea shop in Portland and buys all sorts of strange blends. Orange pekoe is probably my favorite. Not really orange flavored, that's just the name....

ReplyDeleteI discovered them when my family lived in Japan, but they are American or Canadian. Really incredible flavor combinations (my favorite was Paradise which had tropical fruit in it). If you're a tea lover, check them out!

ReplyDeleteMy family loves all kinds of tea. In fact, we have several cabinets dedicated to storing our tea collection. Two of my favorites are London Cuppa & Irish Breakfast.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a tea enthusiast. Her favorite tea is a good Assam. Loose leaf, of course. ;-) Growing up, Mom always allowed us to use her fine china, no matter our age, because she wanted us to know that we were more important to her than any material object.

Fave pot is really a tea kettle and I pour the hot water over the bag.

Fave place to stop for tea would be my screen porch.

ReplyDeleteUh, yes, Ruthy, I do drink tea as Melanie stated -- peppermint tea, to be exact and ... ahem ... it's actually point 8 of my "Chip Off the Old (Writer's) Block bog a month or two ago when I listed the benefits of peppermint tea -- aiding in everything from irritable bowl syndrome and vomiting ... to flatulence, diarrhea and diverticular disorders!! Now, really, how could you NOT remember that??? :) Obviously problems you never have, my friend, which is a good thing. ;)

SO funny you'd turn the conversation to tea, as yesterday I purchased some from a sutler at a Civil War Days reenactment. I picked up a jar of chocolate chi loose tea!
My favorite cup is a little antique French cup and saucer in cobalt blue with gold trim. A gold rose is painted inside the cup. This was one of about a dozen teacups brought to me by my dh when we was traveling the world for his job while I was keeping the home fires burning. I've never used any of them, BTW. Just enjoy looking at them.
I don't have a favorite pot, but have two, one large enough for serving a group, and one that's a single cup steamer.
My favorite accessories would be the little strainers and steepers. I have tea-balls, a spoon and novelty steepers that feature seasonal weights on the end. (Not sure of the terminology).
My favorite loose teas include Chocolate, Strawberry Kiwi, and Russian Gunmetal. Bags would be Bigalow's Constant Comment and Spicy Chi.
I've never purchased tea online, but my favorite places to buy teas include from vendors at festivals, and at Sally Lunn's Tearoom in Chester, NJ. Sally's also bakes the most amazing Sour Cherry Scones. Out of this world.
Another favorite tea place used to be Hicks and McCarthy in Pittsford NY. They have high tea and the desserts are ymmmmmmy!

I really like lattes, but at heart I'm a tea drinker. Earl Grey. Now that I live in Florida, it's mainly iced tea, unsweet. That's northern tea. Sweet tea might taste better, but think of all the calories. Better not.

ReplyDeleteTea parties are fun! I bought my tea cozy in Chinatown in SF. I have a collection of old tea cups. Earl Grey is my favorite tea. I tried Lady Grey at Epcot's English Tea Shoppe. My pot is English Blue Willow. This summer is Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.

Now I'm that way with building my own caramel coffee.
First the right K-cup.... Folger's Gourmet or Gloria Jeans....
Then a shot of caramel syrup into the empty cup.
Then Italian sweet cream or vanilla caramel creamer...
Heat for 30 seconds.
Stir.
Brew coffee into hot creamer/caramel mix.
If you mix up the order of events YOU RUIN EVERYTHING.
So I get it, just not for tea. But I loved those tea websites, didn't you???? Now I want to write a book about a tea shop.

ReplyDeleteTea? My dream is to have a fragile, bone china tea service that I use every day for a refreshing mid-afternoon break of tea and biscuits.
(In my immaculate office, of course.)
But reality is my morning tea in my favorite stained mug. No office in sight.
Love tea! Whole leaf, Earl Grey when it is really fresh and good, and usually black. Sometimes I treat myself with a little milk and sugar free vanilla though.

Tea? I like chamomille and vanilla chai, but I'm not sure it likes me.
I steam 1/2 milk and 1/2 water and then steep the tea in that, then add some stevia sweetener. For some reason afterward, I don't feel very good. Not sure if it's the steamed milk or the tea.
Maybe I'll try another one in the morning to see if it still affects me that way.
It's 10 pm here. I really shouldn't steep a cup of chamomille this late... should I? lol
Did it anyway. Enjoying my chamomille tea just before bedtime!
