ReplyDeleteGood morning, Seekerville! I've always loved that Benet poem since I first saw it at Jamestown, Virginia, site of the first permanent English settlement. Little did those people know that one day there would be a United States consisting not only of the English, but native peoples who already lived in the vastness of the Atlantic to the Pacific as well as those from every nation, race, culture and religion around the world! A melting pot of people who, in spite of their country's many flaws, are proud to be called Americans.

ReplyDeleteWhile the rest of the country is sweltering, it's been a cool day in the mountains of Arizona--low to mid-60's. Phoenix even had it's lowest temp in 100 years for the 4th of July -- low 70's. Should be back into the 100's tomorrow.

Did you know it was on Independence day (cant remember how long ago) my cat Meggs took his independence from me. I always remember that day (ungrateful wretch of a cat!) I did love Meggs but he did tend to wander and had another home.
