I have one of the Seekerville jar openers, and I would use it as a plate for a brownie (or some other yummy snack) since I write best when I'm not hungry :0) Or to hold my place in my copy of The Synonym Finder when I'm searching for the perfect word. Hmmmm....the jar opener could be a little Frisbee for a small dog? (not sure how well it would "fly")
And I'll pitch in and help with the party clean-up (sweeping up confetti...) and since it's Fall and there are some lovely apple orchards in north Georgia, I've brought an Apple Cobbler and my homemade Apple Sauce (I use LOTS of cinnamon...mmmmm).

By the way, I got one of the small black jar opener/coasters from Julie earlier this year, and I absolutely LOVE it as a coaster! I kept moving it between my computer desk and my easy chair because I like it so much. And then Mary Connealy gave me a larger one in my swag bag so I don't have to keep moving them around. They are the best coasters ever!

You could use the jar opener as one of those grippy things that keeps your phone from sliding off your dashboard when you're driving! As an added bonus, it would remind you to check out Seekerville's newest post... But only after you park, of course. ;)

I have one of those jar openers, but have always used it as a coaster, since I received it in a packet with several other tchotche...thoscke...tchotsky... Oh forget it. Thingys. And with it came a big round green rubber jar opener, too. So I thought the black one was a coaster. :)
I bet it would take scuff marks off of linoleum or tile.
If you have several, place them under a rug to keep it from slipping.
I also have used it to set a candle on when I'm afraid it might get hot.
With Christmastime coming, it might be used for a sweet ornament. :)

ReplyDeleteSo, if I were being non-fuctionally-fixed, some uses could be:
ReplyDeletePutting it under a baby's changing mat on one top of a dresser to create an instant baby changing table that won't slide off.
Cutting and glueing them to the bottom of kids shoes or the new cowboy boots my boy insists on wearing that have no traction to keep them from slipping out from under him.
The time out spot. Child must stand on one foot on the Seekerville circle in time out, making punishment more annoying to the offendee and making them do isometric exercise and practice balance therefore counting as PE for homeschooling purposes.
Do you detect the "I have little children at home" theme? :)

I work in a school library and my circulation desk has too many holes in it....you know where they drill out a round plug so you can feed all your computer cables through? So I have this one uncovered hole right by where the kids check out their books. A grade one boy (it's always the boys) got his arm stuck in the hole yesterday!!!! Why? Because he wanted to see if it could fit. It did but then he couldn't get it out. So I'd use the jar opener thingy as a plug to cover that confounded hole once and for all. :-)
Oh -- or if you cut a half way through it you could fold the layers over and make a dunce cap for a guinea pig. :-)

You could use the jar opener to...put the lid back on tightly?
Other uses for that SEEKERVILLE JAR OPENER ... all tested and approved. Just remember to put the jar opener back in the designated kitchen drawer so it will be there when needed.
ReplyDeleteWrap it around large knife handle to keep the handle from slipping so the blade doesn't nick your finger again.
Use it on kitchen counter top to keep cutting board from slipping so the carefully-diced onions and mushrooms don't splatter all over the kitchen floor again.
Inside car console to keep change from rattling because rattles in cars drive you nuts.
To keep that little-bitty $5 fan from rattling on your desk when you turn the fan on.
A super place to put your non-Seekerville pens and other items so they don't roll off your desk. Note that the Seekerville pen does not roll readily -- love how those Seekers think ahead!
Place it under plant container on plant stand so the next time the cat bumps into the stand a defenseless little plant doesn't suffer irreparable damage. This is only a temporary measure replaced by Velcro tape because the jar opener must always return to the kitchen drawer.

I use this as a coaster, too. At first I didn't realize it was a jar opener! My tip of the day: It makes a better jar opener than a coaster because it can stick to a glass.

Actually those black jar openers have a nice mild abrasive quality, they make good back scratchers. If only they had a long handle!! Maybe I could use duct tape and attach them to like....four pens!

I am wondering if you could put the jar opener under a vase of flowers to stop it from slipping.

ReplyDeleteIt's 2:45 am and I think I can finally go to bed and sleep a little while, BUT I would love to have one of the Seekerville Jar Openers. With cervical spine disease, it affects my hands and the jar openers are priceless. All of you at Seekerville are the best!!

COngrats ALL! I have one of those nifty jar openers - which I just learned was a jar opener LOL. It's most definitely my coaster.
ReplyDeleteIt would work VERY well, I think, to hide the stains on your table - or a thin piece of chocolate. It also works as a fairly good back scratcher (good traction, and the feel on your back is VERY nice).

Thanks all yesterday was a bad day, feeling sorry for myself and feeling lonely just wanting the phone to ring and when it did I was in the bath.
ReplyDeletethis constant pain is getting old and adding dizziness and nausea to it isn't helping. But I did sleep a little better last night.
I know I can handle this as God doesn't give us more than we can handle but sometimes I just feel I cant take it much more. I wish I was up to reading as a good book can take the pain away but at present I am not even up to that. People here know Im struggling when I say I am considering canceling going to the cricket which is on par with I cant read.

Someone stole my purse Thursday night out of my locked van, without breaking a window (HOW?) and I've been dealing with that, plus I was in Birmingham all day yesterday with Barbara Vey and Debby Giusti (LUCKY ME!) and the Southern Magic ladies for their annual readers luncheon. But congrats to Clari Dees for winning the iPad!!! Great party, girls, as always!!! :-)

I use the Seekerville jar opener as it was intended--to open jars. Is it me or are jars suddenly harder to open? Love all the clever ways some of you are using them!

I bought a bushel and a half of butternut squash today. Farm market closing for the season... two pecks of green peppers. Cauliflower. Big zucchini to freeze for zucchini bread.
My entire kitchen smells like vegetables. And Dave is cleaning two Goose breasts in the sink.

Yeah, that.

ReplyDeleteI had my wallet stolen once, out of a shopping cart. It was found like....a month later, thrown under some shelf ... in a town thirty miles away. All the money gone but my credit cards and license there. But of course by then I'd had everything cancelled and replaced.
Not a LOT of money, mostly just a STINKING NUISANCE!!! DISHONEST SCUM!
I counted it as part of my tithe. Figured it as money given to the poor. I think God understood. :(
