That's it! Have a great weekend!
Wasn't that a party! Hope you had a great Valentine's Day and an awesome weekend. If you're cold, or even just chilly, I'd like to invite you to the Valley of the Sun... Phoenix! Thanks Tina for another great line up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great WE, Tina. Love all the photos. Congrats to all the winners. Can't believe we have 15 days till Speedbo. Have a great weekend everyone! Stay warm...
ReplyDeleteOh cool I won Ruthys book Im excited.
ReplyDeleteCongrats all other winners.
Oh love the cover of Mary's new book.
Love the photos also.
Anyone cold is welcome to come here its humid and yuck but your welcome. (give me 100 degrees with dry heat anyday over around 90 and humid!).
LOVE the new cover, Connealy!
ReplyDeleteGot bogged down reading links. Now my head's spinning with all those graphs and figures.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, too!
Coffee's ready.
Tina, great WE, thank you, thank you, thank you!
ReplyDeleteHELEN. COFFEE. YES.
Helen, those graphs and figures are eye-opening, aren't they? We are in the middle of changing times and I'm loving it, I love writing on both sides of the fence because it's truly the best of both worlds.
And my Love Inspired readers who've read my independent books have been very enthusiastic, and it's driving my sales of my Love Inspired e-books much higher than they were before putting out my indie books, and I've only been in the indie pool for 5 months... so I'm a newbie, I'm feeling my way, learning as I go, but what a fun swim!!!!
TINA!!!!!! THE PICTURES!!!! IT'S ALMOST ENOUGH TO PUSH ME OUT OF MY SELF-ENFORCED HERMITAGE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to be with all those people, to have fun with so many Seekers and authors!!!! Green with envy!!!! I loved seeing them, and I'm in danger of running out of exclamation points!!!! Oh! Wait! I found more!!!!!!!!
Connealy
ReplyDeleteBEST COVER YET.
BEST COVER YET.
BEST COVER YET.
'Sall I'm sayin'.
Have a good weekend, Seekerville! Congrats to the WE winners!
ReplyDeleteloved all the news and photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm still alive BTW. my mornings are all messed up lately. I miss youse guys.
Going to go look over all the fun I missed this week. Congrats to the winners!
Great WE, Tina! Thanks again for all the good info. Enjoyed the photo line up too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the WE winners! Enjoy your swag. :-)
I like the new cover too, Mary C.
Congratulations to all of the winners.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. It looks like Tina and Sandra had a blast!
Hey Everyone,
ReplyDeleteSpeedBo around the corner. Yipes, but I think I'll make it this time.
What great photos in this WE post and so much creativity which I think is mostly due to Tina. Mary's new cover is exceptional. I have to buy the paperback so I'll have the cover on the shelf.
Congrats to prize winners.
Looking forward to next week's posts.
Thank you so much! I loved the pictures. And the graphs from Thursday's post: I printed them and have posted them on my desk lol. Keep writing; you just never know. If you are writing the words God gives you, He'll use them when it's time. And while I'm writing and learning, maybe these words are just for me, and a few close friends who dare to ask if they can read what I've written lol. Thank you so much for this blog. It is so helpful and encouraging!
ReplyDeletetscmshupe [at] pemtel [dot] net
So happy to be a winner of Ruthy's newest....YAY.....Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners!
Elaine, yes, do Speedbo!!! We're not fanatic about it, but anything that helps us all to increase our word count and our pledge to write is wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteFIFTEEN DAYS!!!! My Christmas Love Inspired is my Speedbo goal, to get it finished, polished and edited and make Love Inspired SMILE when they see it!
Congrats to all the winners.
ReplyDeleteMary Connealy--You're telling me people couldn't she was a girl??? She's gorgeous. Love the cover.
I need to sign up for Speedbo!
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your Chocolate weekend.
ReplyDeleteGoals? I'm working on them. With Feb. only having 28 days, I hope I make this month's goals.
Have a great weekend. The snow is falling once more in Kentucky. I know many people who are sick of it, but as it swirls and falls outside, I can' help but be amazed again at all the beauty God surrounds us with.
Oooh, look, Annie Rains. Hi, Annie!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Mary Hicks. Was going to check on you today. All is well??
ReplyDeleteMs. Marvin! What's going on with your writing??
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Jackie Layton!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, Lyndee!!! FIFTEEN DAYS TIL SPEEDBO!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover, Mary!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all these pictures! Sounds like that was an awesome time!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't believe the Hallmark channel is picking up Cheryl Woods' books... THAT IS COOL!
Loved the Author Earnings data. Hugh Howey is one of my heroes. I hope he shows up to hold the rabid authors at bay when I'm JA Knorath's blog in May, defending my choice to sign another traditional contract. (Maybe I could bribe him... hm. What to give the man who has everything??)
LOL, Connie. that was my thought. Maybe this is after her post-Civil War make over??
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, the women who fought in the Civil War are so interesting. I think a new book came out on them last year. I just checked it out from the library. "I'll Pass For Your Comrade." Really fascinating.
Jackie Smith, I hope you love it!!!
ReplyDelete#happy, happy, happy!!!
Happy Birthday, Jackie Layton!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi MARIANNE, The photo brought back memories of the great hugs from you and your mom. Have fun in the warm sun. smile
ReplyDeleteJust so you know. CAPTAIN JACK not only snagged rum balls but took off with the chocolate covered strawberries the mayor brought to the authors. Naughty, naughty. But that's Captain Jack for ya.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners. Have fun with all of those reads.
ReplyDeleteIt really was fun to see TINA and Seeker friends. JAN even sat through our workshops. Brave woman. smile But seriously it made it special to have a familiar face smiling at us. Thanks JAN
Tina, great Weekend Edition!! Congrats to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteExciting that Love Inspired Suspense is seeking that Killer Voice with a contest that could open the door! As will our SpeedBo agent contest!
Off to check out the links. See you all on Monday post side.
Janet
Mary Virginia, that will be fun to have you on Joe Konrath's blog. I'd love to see less arguing about methods and respect both, but while God gives me breath, I'm just going to enjoy having the time of my life writing both traditional and independent books.
ReplyDeleteWhat better time could we be in????
Midlist authors around the world should be kicking up their heels like Susan Boyle did when she realized she was going on to the next round of Britain's Got Talent!!!
We are living the dream.
Sandra and Tina, thanks for the terrific pictures from the Chocolate Affair conference! So fun to connect with villagers and authors!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Love the pic of Sandra and Cap'n Jack Sparrow!! You luck bucket!!
ReplyDeleteAnd really? Did all the authors get FREE chocolate covered strawberries? Ooooo, count me in next year!!!
Great WE, Tina. Love the links, even though I've only popped in on 5 of them, I will visit them all by the end of the day!
Love the new cover, Mary! They keep getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Jackie Layton!!
Mary Virginia, you're going to be on Joe Konrath's blog? Good for you! Let us know the day as it gets closer. That's a bookmark for sure!!
Ruthy, so you're not excited about this new era of publishing, are you?
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL!!!
Congrats to all our winners. What a great week in Seekerville : )
Chocolate-cover strawberries, Marianne Barkman, Jan Christiansen, Tina Pinson and Leola Ogle???
ReplyDeleteDarn, I knew I should have gone to the 2014 Chocolate Affaire!!!

GREAT WE, Teenster, as always!!

Julie
Congrats to all the winners this week. Great posts. :D
ReplyDeleteMust. Have. The. Sign. What a hoot!
LOVE those photos. What a terrific marketing idea, with fabulous benefits... MMMM Choco strawberries AND Capt Jack? Oh yeah...
Thanks for welcoming us to Seekerville next week. We're so excited! YIPPEE!
Just read thru the comments.
ReplyDeleteFor sure, Mary. They didn't know she was a girl?! HA! Seriously, as Virginia said, such an interesting time. Amazing people who lived then. Tough. Smart. Daring... Sounds like a Mary book!
OOOH - Virginia - that should be interesting!
Ruthy - I have a huge supply of !!!'s here. Let me know when you run low. We can barter!
Happy bark day Jackie!
Sandra - that grin on your face with Capt Jack. So fun.
Tina - looking terrific!!!
Alrighty - better git. Have a wonderful Saturday. Anyone have Val chocolate left?
Great WE, Tina!
ReplyDeleteMary C. LOVE LOVE LOVE the cover, though I agree that I don't know how anyone could miss the fact that she's a woman. Love her hair.
Congrats to all the winners!
Pammy keeps saying the 'cowgirl disguised as a man' has too much make-up on. Now I admit I wasn't there but I'm pretty sure she has NO make-up on, she is just that naturally beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow -- this one was one packed WE...it took me all morning to get through all the links. Well, I might have started a wee bit late due to the fact that I was engrossed in Helen's debut novel, Ozark Sweetheart. Woot -- it's a great story!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Mary's new book cover...but no fair that we have to wait until September to read it! Gah!!!
Loved all the pics from the Chocolate Affaire...and not a snowflake in sight. I vaguely remember what that looks like.
Oh -- and Hallmark Channel turning a Love Inspired book into a series...woot! How exciting is that?!
And thanks for the Breathing Room link. I'd heard talk of Andy Stanley but have never heard him. This one resonated with me. :-)
CONNIE QUEEN! THAT'S WHAT THE HERO KEEPS SAYING! She fought in the Civil War disguised as a man...but she was passing herself off as a very young man, a teenager.
ReplyDeleteNow, out in the wild west, she's doing the same (and she's NOT happy about it, she let her father manipulate her into it when she was still exhausted, shocked and battered by the war) but now she's got to claim to be at least 21 to qualify for a Homestead.
The hero figures it out in about ten minutes, in the dusk, with her hat pulled low over her face, standing in a shadowed porch.
So the disguise is ridiculous and she gives it up with great pleasure, almost immediately.
What a great WE! I loved the 1946 couple, and Sandra with Jack. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, forget the makeup, Mary, but honestly, what man would be seen dead (or alive, for that matter) with a head full of hair that gorgeous?
ReplyDeleteWait...don't answer that...
I just remembered what I saw at Wal Mart last night.
Oh....speaking of Wal Mart ...hubby's 2nd cousin twice removed (or is it thrice?) posted late last night on facebook that she saw CLAIMING MARIAH in WAL MART. You know, the one on Hwy 19.
Look for it if you're out shopping today. Send pictures...and chocolate. I'm desperate for chocolate since Melissa Jagears ATE IT ALL!
Here's the basic premise of the book.
ReplyDeleteIf you fought in the Civil War you could get a Service Exemption.
It takes five years to prove up on a Homestead. But you could take your years of service off that five year requirement. So Kylie served two years, she only needs to last three years on this claim she does NOT want, then she plans to sell it and head back to civilization.
But then it comes out she's a woman to the land agent, Aaron Masterson. Well, he's mighty sorry but you can't serve in the United States Army as a woman so I'm not giving you the service exemption.
BUT I SERVED!
which is true
BUT IT'S FRAUD
which is also true.
And Aaron loves it out west, but Kylie wants civilization, she's so tired of wearing britches and doing manly work. She longs for tea parties and bonnets and lady friends. Aaron wants to move even farther from everyone because he left his home in Virginia and the hate that remained after the war was over. He longs of quiet and peace and distance from the past.
So Kylie would have to sign on for an even wilder life with him.
Kylie has to decide, will she give up her home and her dreams? Or give up Aaron's love?
I need to go put that cover up on Facebook I guess. I've got two more books coming before then. Stuck Together and another novella collection, Four Weddings and a Kiss.
ReplyDeleteSo ... it seems pretty early to be talking about it.
Love the WE, Tina! Packed with great info and wonderful pictures. Everyone looks so happy...and warm! Plus chocolate covered strawberries. The Southwest does it right!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners!
Had a great time at the Glendale Chocolate Affair with Tina & Sandra. They rocked their workshops and I loved getting to know them a little better. February is a great time to live in the Valley of the Sun!
ReplyDeleteVIRGINIA I got the story spark for this series when I was researching for first the Kincaid Brides series about Seth's time in Andersonville Prison and then more later for the Trouble in Texas Series....
ReplyDelete.........and I found an account of a BABY BORN IN ANDERSONVILLE PRISON! A woman was in there with her husband and they had a baby. The guard who heard the sound of a baby crying...his first person account is chilling.
He heard this sound and couldn't figure out what it was and he knew what it SOUNDED like but knew it could not be.
NO ONE KNEW SHE WAS A WOMAN.
And then I started reading about other women who had fought in the war disguised as women...very very fascinating...and I wanted to make up my own version.
Of course that is all BACKSTORY.
I pick up my story when these woman are trying to rebuild their lives after the trauma of war.
Mary, I'd hold back on doing too much with that cover this early, only because it is so strikingly AMAZING that everyone's going to recognize it and say, "Hey, I saw that months ago, I must have read that on my Kindle" and then they WON'T BUY IT AND BETHANY HOUSE WILL GO BROKE AND FIRE AND BRIMSTONE WILL STRIKE MINNESOTA AND THE BEAUTIFUL HORSE RESCUE RANCH THAT I LOVE IN HASTINGS, MINNESOTA THIS OLD HORSE
ReplyDeleteWHICH IS A WORTHY NON-PROFIT, WILL BE RUINED, JUST RUINED!!! JUST SO'S YOUSE ALL KNOW AND ALL BECAUSE YOU RELEASED A COVER TOO EARLY!!!!
I think I made my point.
:)
Mary, I remembered all of that backstory we talked about as I was looking for historical novella ideas and came across that Civil War exemption and the brave women of Nebraska who made their own claims.
ReplyDeleteThose are my kind of girls!
Not like that's a big surprise to anyone. :)
CAPTAIN JACK WAS AT THE CHOCOLATE AFFAIRE?
ReplyDeleteNo way!
Wow, Ruthy such a scary comment.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to just go under my desk until all the old rescued horses are fully dead, then I'll come back.
SORRY HORSES!!!!!!!
Well, no, don't do that.
ReplyDeleteThey're not dead YET.
It's only if you go onto the world of social media at large and show off this beautiful cover too early, and you haven't done that, so the horses and the entire Twin Cities area is alive and well thanks to your hesitation.
You have the power.
I'm kind of awed right now.
Kav!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the absolute first person I've heard say she has actually read or is reading my debut book. Thank you.
Another great WE! And so fun to see the pix from the Chocolate Affair!
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Cap'n Jack was there? Way cool! Did you ask hi when he's coming back to Seekerville?
CONNIE said about Mary's cover: "You're telling me people couldn't tell she was a girl??? She's gorgeous!"
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! She must have cleaned up real well after the war ended. ;)
HELEN!!! How is she reading it? I've got it on pre-order on my Kindle for March 1st!
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics from last Saturday's event in Glendale. My brother lived there and loved it, especially in the winter.
ReplyDeleteLoved Mary's new cover.
Happy Birthday, Jackie.
Congrats to all winners.
Thank you, Tina, for another WE.
Stay warm and safe, everyone. It's snowing again here in Philly.
I'm excited about Love Inspired Books' Killer Voice Contest.
ReplyDeleteAnyone planning to submit? Hope so!
They're actively looking for new authors. That could be YOU!
I am building a new website.
ReplyDeleteI am homicidal.
Helen -- it's wonderful. I pretty much read it in one sitting this morning in a slothful haze after a ridiculous week. Very therapeutic. :-) I can't believe you haven't written a hundred books! I'm reviewing it and doing a giveaway on my blog this week. :-)
ReplyDeleteRuthy -- this is a case where print book trumps ebook because you can order print books directly from Harlequin a month early. I like to stay ahead of the game. Finished Debby's The Agent's Secret Past too.
I just love those cute baseball jerseys!! Thanks for another great WE, Tina! I really want to come to the chocolate event next year. Looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteVirginia, that exciting that you'll be on Joe's blog! Be sure to let us know when it's up.
ReplyDeleteKav,
ReplyDeleteThank you again. It's great to hear sweet words on my very first "critique."
The sequels release in June and September.
Kav,
ReplyDeleteOne more thing.
You have my book in your hands before I do. My author copies have still not arrived. :(
Mary, the book sounds like a lot of fun. I always enjoy stories where people disguise themselves. The Raider is one. Catherine Coulter has several.
ReplyDeleteHelen, seriously?????
ReplyDeleteIs that unusual for Heartsong? Have you checked on them?
You're only two weeks out, less than that. I'm NOT BEING BOSSY, but I'd check on that and see what's up.
My LI's get here six-seven weeks ahead of time, but maybe they do it differently with the Heartsong line. But I'd check, because how stinkin' exciting is that, to hold your book, a CASE OR TWO OF BOOKS!!!! in your hands!
YAY!!!!
Ruthie:
ReplyDeleteI had grown concerned, so the first of this past week I wrote and asked when I might expect them. I was told that they would be shipped this week. I should receive them next week.
???????????
If you were waiting for a sign ... this is it! Brilliant! Totally brilliant -- and not just because of the bright red color.
ReplyDeleteRuthy, thank you for the Amazon gift card! I assure you it will be spent before you can blink twice, thanks to all the writers here. I don't have a wish list at Amazon because it would more than likely overload their server.
Congrats to all the other winners!
Someone's already read Helen's book? I am trying not to be jealous ...
Good reading at the links, as always, Tina. I made pdfs of several so I can go back, highlight, and review. The People Powered Publishing is especially interesting.
And thank you for sharing the pictures! It looks like everyone had a good time -- so much fun to see smiling faces.
Hope everyone's having/had a good weekend.
Nancy C
Discussions about so many changes in the publishing industry has prompted me to share one of my favorite quotes:
ReplyDelete“The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”
Nancy C
Nancy C...love the quote! Haven't we all adjusted our sails! Numerous times.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
The sun is shining in Georgia, which makes me so happy!
ReplyDeleteHope all of you are having a great Sunday...by the way, I'm calling this the Valentine's Day Weekend and still celebrating.
Eat more chocolate is my motto!
Tomorrow I diet. :)
Hugs!
Happy Weekend, Seekerville.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the great photos!
Tina, you said -
"Welcome to another Weekend Edition. We're 46 days into the new year. Where are you with your goals and plans??"
I'm holding steady with a minimum of 1k a day/every day, and I'm 52,000 words into my goal.
They're not pretty words, but it's forward motion and it feels good!
