Next Week In Seekerville

Monday: Today, Mary Connealy will explain in simple terms how to tackle intensely serious sometimes heart wrenching topics, all laid out using terms and attitudes carefully chosen to not disturb contemporary politically correct hyper-sensitivity without being unfaithful to historical accuracy and all while making people laugh.(And in the very real event that she fails at this, which is highly possible considering she mostly doesn't know what she's talking about......she's hoping you won't notice because if you  leave a comment she's giving away a signed copy of Stuck Together and a SECOND give-away, a signed copy of the novella collection she did with Robin Lee Hatcher, Margaret Brownley and Debra Clopton...Four Weddings and a Kiss)

Tuesday: Love Inspired author Winnie Griggs joins us in Seekerville today giving her thoughts on when you do and don't need an epilogue and how to craft an effective epilogue when you DO include one. Winnie will give away a copy of her June book Lone Star Heiress.

Friday:  Audra Harders invites you to join her on a journey of epic proportion…well, at least it is to her! She’s dipping her toe into the pond of Author Newsletters. See what info she’s collected on compiling a successful Author Newsletter, and then pop over to www.audraharders.com, and join her newsletter list. She will be eternally grateful for comments from her friends in Seekerville so let her know how she did. And as always, no good deed ever goes unrewarded, so she’s giving away 2 copies of her latest indie release, Second Chance Ranch – 1 Kindle copy and 1 paperback – let her know which you prefer.

  1. Great WE, Tina! Your book cover is splendiferous. I looked at it, then had to go back and look some more. Beautiful!

Yay! I'm so excited to see Pam at the SCWC this next weekend! Scared a little bc it's my first conference, but so excited to meet a Seeker!

    Now to browse those links.

  2. Great edition, Tina!!! Congratulations to ALL the winners. To you, too, Tina , on having your book show up on Amazon.

  4. Just FYI, I'm writing my blog post right now. Just forget the whole thing!!!!

  5. Ohhh, Tina, love the cover and title, I'm not a contemporary reading girl, but I'd pick that up and see if you could entice me with the blurb!

Happy weekend, I'll be doing nothing but trying to fulfill three deadlines that suddenly all plopped in my lap. No sleep for me!!!!!!

  6. Good morning, Seekerville!

    Great WE as usual!

And yay, Tina! I love the cover of your new book. And the title is very intriguing. It's going on my to-read list.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  7. Well isn't this WE edition chalk full of good news? Congrats to Debby and Pam. How exciting!!!!

I had to google IRCA and was a bit confused when I found that it was a rodeo cowboy award. Pam rides broncs? But then the intrepid librarian in me scrolled down and I found Inspirational Readers' Choice Awards. Now that makes sense!

And I love the cover...and the title...and the whole idea of being Stranded With the Rancher.

Great interview on Suzanne Woods Fisher's blog too. I'd hopped over to it on the day it 'aired' but it wasn't up yet and then I forgot to go back. :-( 150 books between y'all???? Thud, no wonder I need another book case!

  8. YAY, I won Mary's book.....THANKS, Mary!

And thanks, Tina, for all you do....took a peek at your book on Amazon.....love it and can't wait to read it.

    Happy Weekend to all..........

  12. IRCA - I had to google IRCA and was a bit confused when I found that it was a rodeo cowboy award. Pam rides broncs?

Ha!!! Well, if the saddle fits... ha

Love that IRCA is also a rodeo cowboy award. I'll have to tie that in somehow. I feel a meme coming on: bucking bronc, my book cover and a caption that says "IRCA - the OTHER award!"

  13. Whoot! Natalie and I are going to have SO much fun at the SCWC conference next weekend.

    Can't wait!!! :)

  14. Love that cover, Tina! The book sounds great.

Mary, keep writing your blog. You know it's going to be great! :)

  15. Thanks, Melissa J. Sleep is over-rated, right?

  16. Thanks for the kudos on the cover. Those folks in the art department sure deserve some chocolate.

  17. Fabulous WE, love the lineup for next week! Tina, your book looks wonderful. Generally, I read historical so I can stay in the historical world for my writing, but I've recently been dipping my toes into modern reading AND writing. 34K into my second contemporary. My daughter is also 20K into her first contemporary. And, you know what? It's fun!!

Had to laugh over the IRCA mixup. International Rodeo Cowboys Association, I'm guessing? Congratulations, Pam!

Off to read the links and CH. 13 of Closer Than Brothers...

  18. Tina!!!

    You wrote a ‘Stranded’ book!

Now I have to get my book out before September first! You are so competitive!!!

Okay: let’s face off. Whose cover do you think is best? (BTW: I just pre-ordered your ‘Stranded’ on Amazon – so don’t let me win it.)

    http://sweettoheat.blogspot.com/p/cover-portfoilo.html

Isn’t that one good looking hero? And don’t forget the bears.

Note: My covers come just before three of yours! I even have the models on a poster to display my book at the RWA conference! How about that?

Also: the rewards book is coming along. It really is. I have a real professional editor waiting for the copy. I’ve just been writing and editing 200,000 words of real estate books and manuals trying to stay ahead of deadlines and thus stay in business.

Rogenna Brewer is a cover art genius! You tell her what you want and she does it better than you ever imagined. It makes you want to write more books! If I don’t meet my real estate deadlines I’ll be able to write romance books full time!

    The clock is ticking!

I have to hit the keys.

    Vince

P.S. Great WE, by the way, only I don’t have time to check out links. There are bears bearing down on me and they don’t think I’m Goldilocks.

  19. Tina, you're such a productive gal. Great cover. Great WE.

Great links. Just found some time to read them this morning.

My kids arrived last night. Spending the day with them. Doesn't get any better than that.

    Extra coffee brewing!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Love checking out the interesting WE links you come up with, Tina! Great to see your latest on Amazon, too!

Congrats to Pam on the IRCA final!

Rainy day here. Thinking of going to a movie with hubby. Not much chance of getting anything done outdoors.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Have fun with your kids, Helen! Got to see some of mine earlier this week--nice!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Rogenna does an amazing job, Vince. WOW. Love your covers.

The editorial team at Love Inspired collaborates with the author to come up with the title. It was originally called, Stranded in Paradise.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congratulations to Pam and Debby on their finals!~!! Way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Didn't mean to miss Debby's final--congratulations! Great book!

And Missy, a keynote speaker! What an honor!

Still watching the rain. Think we'll go see Moms Night Out. My daughter said it was cute.

  25. Great WE as usual, Tina :) I didn't know your book was up on amazon! Will go preorder my copy now :)

And I L-O-V-E your cover, btw--but thanks for bragging about me, Vince--because I love your covers as well. And really loved working on them.

  26. So much to celebrate here!

Thanks for all congrats about the Daphne final. I'm thrilled. Lots of wonderful writers are in the lineup so making the final round means a lot to me. :)

Congrats to all the Seekerville winners! Don't forget to send your snail mail address to the web addy Tina provides each weekend so we can get your prizes to you!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Missy, what a lovely honor to give the keynote for the Laurie Banquet! Go you!!! YAY! I know you'll WOW the audience. Tell them to visit Seekerville! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for the comments on the cover!!

Rogenna has a great new military romance out now from Supers too.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sandra, thanks for the marketing book! Very excited! And one of yours too!!! Which one do you suggest I start with?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh, great WE Tina!!!! I've popped over to Konrath's article on Amazon vs. Hatchette and then read Passive Voice's link to the classics with ONE STAR reviews, LOL!

Well, honestly, I've read some classics that would be lucky if I gave them a one star review, so while that's funny, I think the viewpoint of what makes a book resonate depends on the marriage of author to reader.

Although I'd probably be generous and give a TWO STAR review, just because the author was like... famous.... :)

Congrats to winners!!!!!! Hooray for you, I love winning!

And I can't hardly B-R-E-A-T-H-E waiting for a Mary Connealy Monday!!!!!

Yeeeee Haaaawwwww!!!!! Now that I've written fun cowboys I just WAIT TO SEE WHAT FUN STUFF MARY WILL SAY ABOUT THEM THAR COWBOYS!!!!

    :)

  34. TINA!!!!! THAT COVER!!!!! OH MY STARS, THAT COVER ROCKS THE BIGGEST KAHUNA EVER!!!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!!

  35. Hi Tina,
You asked the hard question and I put on my big girl pants and signed up for the June Class. Thanks for the push.

  36. Hi All:

You can read the conclusion of Mary’s “Closer than Brothers” here:

    http://mconnealy.blogspot.com/

ALERT! The ending of Chapter 12 is so edgy it could make Julie Lessman blush! I mean it belongs in Kissology 401.

BTW: I just loved this line:

”She wrote to those uncles and threw in a letter to her husband, just in case he had the nerve to not be dead.”

Could there be any doubt who this author’s voice belongs to? : )

I’m reading “Brothers” at the same time that I’m reading “Over the Edge” and if there was any doubt about how Callie could love a crazy guy like Seth Kinkaid, then reading "Brothers" will remove all that doubt. I think reading “Brothers” will make fans want to read “Over the Edge” a second time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Tina:

    “Stranded in Paradise”.

My first thought was that this story takes place in your beautiful location, Paradise, CO. My next thought was that the story is a paranormal. My final thought was that the theme was about survivors of a plane crash on a heavenly tropical island.

If the story really is about your Paradise location, then I’d like to see that mentioned on the cover or the blurb as that would be a strong selling point for fans of “Mending the Doctor’s Heart”. If the story does not take place in Paradise, then the current title may be far less confusing.

Whatever, I’ve read the blurb and I’m hooked already. The hero and heroine were instantly highly sympathetic. I think you are at your very best when you write on medical themes.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jeri!!! I'm in the class too. We can be brave together.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Vince, I think you complimented me. Though it's hard to tell at first read. LOL. Back to the old Vince, I see. Great to have you back.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Excellent Weekend Edition, Tina! I actually had an urge to shiver when I saw your fabulous wintery cover. Love it!!

    Congratulations to all the winners!

This week's lineup looks great. Especially intrigued by Mary's post.

Beautiful, sunny day here. In honor of Sunday and this beautiful weekend, I brought a buffet of ice cream flavors and toppings along with darling footed cups to put your sundaes in. Dig in!

  41. Mary, now that the prequel is finished, I'm going out to read it. I may even copy and paste. Is that allowed? I have to take a friend to have cataract surgery and thought Andersonville prison would be a great waiting room read!

  42. Congratulations, Debby, on the Daphne final!!

And, Missy, on being the keynote speaker at Smokey Mountains Romance Writers awards luncheon!

Pam, have fun signing at Southern Christian Writing conference!

Wow, Seekers are on the move!!

  44. Vince!!!! Great cover! Love it, my friend. And Rogenna does beautiful work. Just lovely...

And Tina, I'm kinda thinkin' sorta it WAS a compliment, because I love you, Paradise and medical peeps.

    That's a win/win/win from where I stand.

  45. There are FIFTY baby chicks coming to my house tomorrow.

    50.

    That's FIFTY, like 5 X 10.

    Stinkin' cute, right????

I'm kinda psyched in a farm-girl kind of way. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I loved your cover Tina! Makes me want to rush to Amazon and order the book!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks, Ms. Loves to Read.

    ReplyDelete
  48. What are 50 chicks for, RUFUS??

    ReplyDelete
  49. 50 Chicks for laying eggs next spring/summer/fall.

PEOPLE ARE BUYING MY GREEN/BROWN/WHITE EGGS LIKE CRAZY!!!!

Why????? I don't know. Well, because they're DELICIOUS, of course, and so colorful!!! Ban the stinkin' boring white eggs: Go brown/green/blue!!!!

I got a text from the hatchery today (do you love that, a hatchery that ships one day old chicks and TEXTS????? Modern farming!) that the 50 babies are en route.

So I made a trip to Country Max, ordered fertilizer (for the 6 acres of veggies, not for the chicks, they'd get sick on fertilizer...:) got chick feeders, chick waterers, chick food, big chicken food and 96 Market Pride tomato plants.

    Dave's favorite.

You might want to shoot me now for thinking any of this is a good idea!!!!

    Peep.... peep.... peep.... peep....

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah. I am thinking this = work.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ruth, 96 tomato plants? Send ripe fruit south, please!

    A few eggs too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. New releases and finals and great covers and weekly winners and 50 chicks!! There's never a dull moment at Seekerville, is there?

Thanks for the WE. Looking forward to reading the links, Tina.

  53. YEA! I won a book!! I am soo excited!!! Thank You! I've already got people begging to borrow the book. We will put up good reviews!!
    Thank YOU!!! :) :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. THANKS

To all who checked out mine and Tina’s covers and to all who made encouraging comments. This WE started with the question, “What have you done today to make your dream come true?” I think my covers are what they call creative visualization.

Lately I’ve been trying to visualize 50 chicks. I think Ruth will have to provide some photos. If she writes about the adventure will it be called chick lit?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tina ... you probably won't see this, but I apologize for being a day late and way MORE than a dollar short in reading this wonderful WE!!

LOVE your new book cover, my friend, and YAY that it's now up on Amazon!!

SUPER CONGRATS to all the winners, especially Pammy --way to go, girlfriend!!

    Hugs,
    Julie
