Next Week In Seekerville
Monday: Clutter. Our houses are filled with it. Our cars looks like a dumpster, our computers are fragmented. And don't even get me started talking about our minds! Decluttering sounds easy, but when our time is even more cluttered than everything else, what's a girl to do? Join Pam Hillman as we discuss ways to declutter all across the board.
Tuesday: Sandra Leesmith will be talking about "Using Unique Real Life Experiences in Your WIP." She has some interesting, almost unbelievable, experiences to share that she has used in her writing. Those who share their unique experiences they have used will be put in for a delightful surprise package. This is Sandra’s birthday month so she is feeling generous because its a major number that means she gets more money.
Wednesday: Glynna Kaye joins us for "July Is Your New January," a midyear look at getting back on track with your 2015 writing goals. She's giving away THREE copies of her October release, "Rekindling the Widower's Heart" (the first in her new Hearts of Hunter Ridge series for Love Inspired).
Thursday: Cara Lynn James is our hostess today. Stop by Seekerville and we'll gather round the cappuccino maker to chat and share.

I've brought the big weekend coffee pot.
ReplyDeleteNow I've got to go back and read those links.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Thank you!! I'm thrilled.
ReplyDeleteCongrats winners! I'll try and stop by in Monday ... Decluttering is something I definitely need to do :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday Seekerville! Congratulations, debby Giusti on finaling! Congrats to this week's winners! Have a productive and blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the sayings about Father's, Tina.
ReplyDeleteI had such a great dad and you know, he was never the most ambitious guy, though he worked hard at his job. He didn't come to all our school events.
But he wrestled with us and talked to us and read to us and he loved my mom with the sweetest most constant heart.
I never heard him say a curse word. Never saw him take a drink of alcohol. He never missed church and always sang in the choir. I never doubted for one moment he loved all of us.
He's been gone for 13 years and I still think of him and wish I could talk things over with him because he loved to talk and had the best laugh.
Happy Weekend Seekerville Friends!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS to all the winners, AND to Debby Giusti on her Finalist achievements---WOW!! :)
Looking forward to next week's posts (especially on Decluttering---really need that one).
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.
Missing my precious Daddy---the most brilliant man I ever knew. He loved his 3 daughters and had such a spot for children and animals. (hmmmm....must be where I get my love of kiddos and animals)
Pouring a big cup of Helen's COFFEE (thanks, Helen!) and setting out some warm Georgia peach pancakes and pecan waffles--with real butter and maple syrup. Enjoy!
Hugs, Patti Jo
Good morning, Seekerville. Mary, sounds like your dad and mine were two peas in a pod. He's also been gone 31 years and he was a hard-working, pull-your-boots-up by the bootstraps kind of guy. When Daddy and Mama were just kids when they married and they had nothing. They build up their dairy and farming operation together, one cow at a time, working day and night, raising us kids, going to church and teaching us to live a Godly life.
ReplyDeleteWhen my older brother's were out of the house, that left me to be Daddy's sidekick. So from the age of 13, Daddy and I hired out to bale hay, while Mama milked cows. I helped Daddy rebuild more than one tractor and knew where every grease alemite (look it up on Wiki, lol) was on the baler, the mower, and the rake.
Growing up on a farm, working hard, and doing chores that weren't normally considered women's work convinced me I could to anything I wanted to do as long as I worked hard enough and believed long enough.
Because Daddy could do it all, and he let me do it with him. The fact that I was a girl never even seemed to cross his mind.
Oh, and every summer just as school was about to let out, he and I negotiated my summer pay very seriously and carefully. Seems like I made $300 the summer I was about 13. Doesn't sound like much, but I painted my room, and bought a stereo, which I still have, btw. And when I went to buy the stereo, I didn't have enough money to buy a nice one, and finally, after a long discussion, Daddy kicked in and paid extra for a nicer stereo.
Ah, memory lane.
Good morning, Seekerville, and happy Father's Day Weekend!
ReplyDeleteNot a Father's Day goes by that I don't miss the lost opportunity to know my own daddy better. I was a "late in life" baby, and before my 4th birthday, Daddy died of heart disease. I love looking at old photos of us, though--me on his lap, playing in the backyard, riding "shotgun" with him (LONG before the days of car seats!) on trips to town.
But I'm so grateful to have married a man who has been such a good dad to our kids. He rarely missed a band performance, swim meet, school program, or other important event in their lives, and has always done his best to support and encourage them through life's challenges.
Congrats to DEBBY and to all our weekly winners! Have a blessed weekend, everyone!
Congrats to the book winners,
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Debby on her nomination,
And finally Congrats to MARY, PATTI JO, PAM and MYRA for having such memorable good DADS!
Happy Fathers Day to all,the Seeker Dads and Husbands!
Congratulations to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your contest finals, Debby! I wish you well in the final rounds.
Loved all the links. I clicked on several.
I'm looking forward to the posts this coming week, especially Pam's on clutter busting and Glynna's on goal setting. These are two areas I can use help with.
Oh, I love the Dad stuff! The Mark Twain quote was so perfect!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great WE! I've got kids here and I've been writing all morning, so I'm coming back in a little bit to get some more stuff done, but I hear the hose running... as long as no one's drowning, it's fine!
Tina, this rocks with Father's Day fun-ness!
Helen, thanks for the coffee!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, shoot.
ReplyDeleteNow I want Mary's father.
Dagnabbit.
Or Patti Jo's.
ReplyDeleteDagnabbit TWICE!!!!!
Congrats to all the winners...and hooray for me! LOL
ReplyDeleteAlso, happy to hear your good news, Debby Giusti! Wishing you a winning final round in both contests!
I've been on the tea kettle...a little late, but hey, I drink tea all day long!!
This is my first Father's Day without my Daddy...I think it's gonna be difficult. I wrote about him in a post on my blog a couple of years ago. I miss him so much!
My Sweet Husband is an incredible Daddy to our children and grandchildren...they love him so...and now our son, and son-in-laws are the most wonderful Daddy's...the legacy continues...My cup runneth over!!
OOPS...I should have said...*I put on the tea kettle*!! How did this happen? I was using the Grammarly from one of those links...just another lesson in proofreading...or maybe I needed one more cuppa!!
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks for another fun, informative Weekend Edition! Love the mustached quotes! My dad wore a mustache for years. But, not the cowpoke look. Looking forward to the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to our winners!
Congrats to Debby's Daphne and Colorado finals!!! Way to go!!
Janet
Thanks to so many of you for sharing a peek at your wonderful dads!
ReplyDeleteMy dad was a kind, hardworking man of faith. Daddy taught school and worked construction in the summer, as well as put in an enormous garden and strawberry patch. He did whatever he could to take care of his family. He didn't play with my brothers and me all that much but he always believed we could do whatever we set our minds to. And in my case that included publication. He never got to see one of my books in print, but his faith in me, along with my supportive husband and friends, kept me going.
Janet
Happy Saturday! Hope you're all having a good weekend. We're a bit hot. One our air conditioning units went out in the middle of a heat wave!
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day to all our dads out there! I was lucky enough to spend 5 days with mine last week. :)
I've been so blessed to have an absolutely wonderful Dad--and to still have him around. He loves God, my mom, and his kids. And greater love has no father than one who will read his author daughter's ROMANCE novels!! :)
ReplyDeletePraying for all of you this weekend who have lost beloved fathers--may you be comforted by warm memories. And praying as well, for those of you haven't had a good relationship with yours. Never forget that you have a HEAVENLY Father who loves you and is always there and smiling at you proudly.
Congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day to the dads! Yay for them!!! Heroes all!
Thanks for the warm wishes, everyone!
Enjoy the weekend. I've got a full house...lots of laughter and fun!
Congratulations, Debby! And congrats to all this week's winners.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Debby! :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo for all the winners!
Tina! These links! And the free tools for writers one--where has that Hemingway App been all my life!!! THANK YOU, lady.
We are celebrating tomorrow with a race for ALS at the baseball field. I will be watching cute grandkids while in-shape children are running.... and then late in the day we're gathering for some kind of food that includes Lindi Peterson's Mac and Cheese on Yankee Belle (Dave's favorite) and homemade banana cream pie...
ReplyDeleteI love that dads around here are easy to please!
Happy Father's Day to those dads that are important in Seekerville!!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Ruthy ALS,what a terrible disease. My aunt died from it. Thank you for working for this cause.
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day!!!!! And God bless all the mothers who cook or clean or do nice things for the men in their lives this day!
ReplyDeleteAnd last year I saw a note on facebook that made me realize how hard these days are on infertile couples, or folks who've lost children.
I hadn't thought of that before, and this facebook note reminded me that while the world spins normally for most of us, that it's not a given.
So for those who are awaiting the joy of parenthood, my prayers are with you, today, that God's blessings will be showered upon you in the best way possible.
God bless you!
Mary, I'd love to accept the thanks, but I was doing the Grammy-babysitting thing so others could help. So not that big a deal on my part because the kids are stinkin' adorable!
ReplyDeleteBut yes, a wretched disease. I'd like to see a cure for cancer (and I keep hearing how much closer we are with immunological therapy!) and Alzheimer's (and new, promising developments with discovery of brain bathing lymphatic system we didn't know existed!!! It's like putting your oven on "Self-Clean" only for the brain!) and for neurological diseases that wear on body and soul.
In God's hands and our brains, this is possible!!!
Ruthy, thanks for sharing new discoveries for cures for these terrible diseases. Very encouraging!
ReplyDeleteJanet
We had a delightful time at Ribfest, part of my dh's Father's Day celebration. I love barbecue sauce!
ReplyDeleteKnow these festival treats are not good for us, but which do you prefer elephant ears or funnel cakes?
Janet
What a great WE. I loved hearing about all the dads. My hubby and I have spent the day remembering our dads and thanking the Lord for blessing us with such wonderful fathers.
ReplyDeleteAnd Glynna, thanks for reminding us that we have all have the same wonderful Father in Heaven.
Congrats to the winners and to Debby for her finals. YAY!!!!!!!
Have a blessed week.
Janet, I've never had either one. Good grief I hope you don't mean real ears!!!!
ReplyDeleteDebby, congratulations on the finals! Congrats, also, to this week's winners. And while all the links were good, the one about getting control of email was super. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHope everyone had a nice weekend.
