Those who share their unique experiences they have used will be put in for a delightful surprise package. This is Sandra’s birthday month so she is feeling generous because its a major number that means she gets more money.
Wednesday: Glynna Kaye joins us for "July Is Your New January," a midyear look at getting back on track with your 2015 writing goals. She's giving away THREE copies of her October release, "Rekindling the Widower's Heart" (the first in her new Hearts of Hunter Ridge series for Love Inspired).

ReplyDeleteI had such a great dad and you know, he was never the most ambitious guy, though he worked hard at his job. He didn't come to all our school events.
But he wrestled with us and talked to us and read to us and he loved my mom with the sweetest most constant heart.
I never heard him say a curse word. Never saw him take a drink of alcohol. He never missed church and always sang in the choir. I never doubted for one moment he loved all of us.
He's been gone for 13 years and I still think of him and wish I could talk things over with him because he loved to talk and had the best laugh.

Missing my precious Daddy---the most brilliant man I ever knew. He loved his 3 daughters and had such a spot for children and animals. (hmmmm....must be where I get my love of kiddos and animals)
Pouring a big cup of Helen's COFFEE (thanks, Helen!) and setting out some warm Georgia peach pancakes and pecan waffles--with real butter and maple syrup. Enjoy!

Good morning, Seekerville. Mary, sounds like your dad and mine were two peas in a pod. He's also been gone 31 years and he was a hard-working, pull-your-boots-up by the bootstraps kind of guy. When Daddy and Mama were just kids when they married and they had nothing. They build up their dairy and farming operation together, one cow at a time, working day and night, raising us kids, going to church and teaching us to live a Godly life.
ReplyDeleteWhen my older brother's were out of the house, that left me to be Daddy's sidekick. So from the age of 13, Daddy and I hired out to bale hay, while Mama milked cows. I helped Daddy rebuild more than one tractor and knew where every grease alemite (look it up on Wiki, lol) was on the baler, the mower, and the rake.
Growing up on a farm, working hard, and doing chores that weren't normally considered women's work convinced me I could to anything I wanted to do as long as I worked hard enough and believed long enough.
Because Daddy could do it all, and he let me do it with him. The fact that I was a girl never even seemed to cross his mind.
Oh, and every summer just as school was about to let out, he and I negotiated my summer pay very seriously and carefully. Seems like I made $300 the summer I was about 13. Doesn't sound like much, but I painted my room, and bought a stereo, which I still have, btw. And when I went to buy the stereo, I didn't have enough money to buy a nice one, and finally, after a long discussion, Daddy kicked in and paid extra for a nicer stereo.
Ah, memory lane.

ReplyDeleteNot a Father's Day goes by that I don't miss the lost opportunity to know my own daddy better. I was a "late in life" baby, and before my 4th birthday, Daddy died of heart disease. I love looking at old photos of us, though--me on his lap, playing in the backyard, riding "shotgun" with him (LONG before the days of car seats!) on trips to town.
But I'm so grateful to have married a man who has been such a good dad to our kids. He rarely missed a band performance, swim meet, school program, or other important event in their lives, and has always done his best to support and encourage them through life's challenges.
Congrats to DEBBY and to all our weekly winners! Have a blessed weekend, everyone!

I've been on the tea kettle...a little late, but hey, I drink tea all day long!!
This is my first Father's Day without my Daddy...I think it's gonna be difficult. I wrote about him in a post on my blog a couple of years ago. I miss him so much!
My Sweet Husband is an incredible Daddy to our children and grandchildren...they love him so...and now our son, and son-in-laws are the most wonderful Daddy's...the legacy continues...My cup runneth over!!
OOPS...I should have said...*I put on the tea kettle*!! How did this happen? I was using the Grammarly from one of those links...just another lesson in proofreading...or maybe I needed one more cuppa!!

ReplyDeleteMy dad was a kind, hardworking man of faith. Daddy taught school and worked construction in the summer, as well as put in an enormous garden and strawberry patch. He did whatever he could to take care of his family. He didn't play with my brothers and me all that much but he always believed we could do whatever we set our minds to. And in my case that included publication. He never got to see one of my books in print, but his faith in me, along with my supportive husband and friends, kept me going.

I've been so blessed to have an absolutely wonderful Dad--and to still have him around. He loves God, my mom, and his kids. And greater love has no father than one who will read his author daughter's ROMANCE novels!! :)

ReplyDeleteAnd last year I saw a note on facebook that made me realize how hard these days are on infertile couples, or folks who've lost children.
I hadn't thought of that before, and this facebook note reminded me that while the world spins normally for most of us, that it's not a given.
So for those who are awaiting the joy of parenthood, my prayers are with you, today, that God's blessings will be showered upon you in the best way possible.

I'd like to see a cure for cancer (and I keep hearing how much closer we are with immunological therapy!) and Alzheimer's (and new, promising developments with discovery of brain bathing lymphatic system we didn't know existed!!! It's like putting your oven on "Self-Clean" only for the brain!) and for neurological diseases that wear on body and soul.
In God's hands and our brains, this is possible!!!

What a great WE. I loved hearing about all the dads. My hubby and I have spent the day remembering our dads and thanking the Lord for blessing us with such wonderful fathers.
