ReplyDeletePlease enter me for the tote of books!
Well I have the sand here. Dust storm in progress in Arizona, lol. Hope everyone has a very productive weekend!
ReplyDeleteSandy! You are in. Is that a new profile picture? You have the best smile!
ReplyDeleteLife is better in flip flops! Thanks for putting getting a great beachy WE, Tina. Congratulations to all of the winners!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the winners! Another terrific WE Tina! I love your new Facebook page too!
ReplyDeletePlease drop my name in for the Beach Tote and books!
May everyone have a blessed weekend!
Smiles & Blessings,
Cindy W.
Have a great weekend. Love the tote. I'm ready to fill that tote up with new books. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteYay. It's the weekend. I just checked out the sacred cow link above. I was feeling a little down about my 'Talent' level. The article was a wonderful encouragement. Please throw my name in for the bag of books. Congrats to the winners this week. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteLove the beach theme, TINA! I'd give just about anything to beam myself in for a barefoot walk at sunset along the beach at La Jolla (pronounced la hoya for those of you who aren't familiar with this beautiful place in California).
ReplyDeleteAND I love the Seekerville calendar download for putting stickers on to mark the days you stick with your writing! I've resorted to tracking with stickers and a calendar a number of times in my life--it's especially helpful when you're trying to establish a habit of writing every day or writing to a certain word count daily. So motivating to look back on the month and see those days filled with stickers!
Thanks for another great W.E. Tina! Happy writing, Seekerville!
Congratulations to all the winners this week!!
ReplyDeleteTINA, congratulations on your new Facebook author page!! I'm hoping to find and like everyone's page here (so if I missed anyone let me know), and I'm (gulp) starting one, too. I took an ACFW class about Facebook, and read numerous blogs that recommended starting one (even before publication) but there are two different kinds (the one where you add people, and one where people can like your page) so I'm still a little confused by how some of it works. Also, it's difficult to inspire "followers" when you don't know where you're going, LOL.
My sweet son-in-law did get my website up and going though (a website is another thing that's highly recommended even before you're published) and this is what I put on the home page: Writer Laura Conner Kestner wants you to follow her, but she confesses that it will not be a thrill-a-minute ride…yet. She admits to being an uninspired cook so she won’t be sharing recipes with you. And she can’t keep a plant alive for more than a few weeks, so gardening tips are also out. She’s terrible at crafts, fashion, decorating, and nearly everything else that would make her an interesting person to follow on social media. But she writes great stories about fascinating, flawed, fictional people and she can’t wait to share them with you someday soon. In the meantime, she will post (via the blog link here) some of the more fun things she’s stumbled across while doing research for her books—and the occasional warm, wise or witty (in her opinion) thoughts that cross her mind." I figured I might as well start out honest with potential fans that there's not much to see yet :-)
Thanks for the wonderful Christmas in July sale!! I've mentally escaped the heat each evening this week by reading one of the stories - loving them!!
Great WE as usual! Off to read the links!
LAURA -- I LOVE your website "disclaimer." :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, GLYNNA :-) Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for all the winners this week, enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI've had company all week, so a beach bag of books would be a great way to relax. Count me in on that! I haven't had time to comment this week either, just a few quick "drive-bys" and now I see we have a lurker day coming up, how appropriate.
Tina has a new FB page?! I really have been living under a rock this week! I'm headed over there to check that out, must support the home team!
Have a great weekend friends!
Happy weekend! Tina, thanks for another great WE! Congrats to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be entered in the beach bag of books drawing! Thanks so much.
To show how much I love Seekerville, today my son is getting married and I still wanted to take a moment away from house guests and preparations to stop by and visit. If you want to follow the fun their # is #Layton4life.
Tina, I stopped by your author page on FB. Obviously, I consider you a tech genius for setting it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great WE.:-) Makes me long for the days when I walked along So Cal beaches ... and still looked good in a bathing suit.
Tina, I stopped by your author page on FB. Obviously, I consider you a tech genius for setting it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great WE.:-) Makes me long for the days when I walked along So Cal beaches ... and still looked good in a bathing suit.
Tina, thanks for another great WE and congrats on your author page! You are truly a tech genius!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners.
I'd love to be entered for the tote/bags! THANKS!
YAY! I'm SO excited to read Ruth's new book! Thank you SO MUCH! Congratulations to the other winners and good luck to all those entering this week! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend everyone. Boy, where did July go...?
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend! congratulations to all the winners.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for the Love Inspired Authors. I've noticed the suspense books for this month never appeared on the shelves. I called Walmart. They sent me round and round and I was told I would need to talk to the vender only I have no information on how to do that. At this point I am wondering what to do, who to contact. Anyone have any suggestions. I will miss being able to read the suspense books. What will be next to disappear from the shelves the regular or the Historical. It is not worth it to buy the e books for them because they are almost as expensive as the print besides I prefer the print books.
Can hardly believe July's almost over. I so love popping in here--always a wellspring of encouragement and practical advice and such fun fellowship (and giveaways LOL). <3 Congrats to all the winners--and I can't wait to read next week's posts. <3
ReplyDeleteOH. Also, forgive my absentmindedness--but THANK YOU Seekerville ladies for the kind card you sent me last month for my hip surgery. The day it came was the day after my grandfather passed away (looooong, busy, HARD month/2months its been) and that was such a ray of light for me. <3
I love the August beach giveaway! Please enter me.
ReplyDeleteJill, admittedly, I live life in flip flops and always have at least two pair in the house. HA!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindy! YOU ARE IN. And thanks for stopping by FB too.
ReplyDeleteDeana! Welcome to Seekerville.
ReplyDeleteOh, my, lots of Seeker books on the roster for 2016. I'm a book addict myself. Up to 600 on my Kindle alone.
You are in the drawing.
Happy Beach Weekend.
Bettie! So glad you were encouraged. Your name is in the draw.
ReplyDeleteMay your writing be in the zone this weekend!
La Jolla! Be still my heart. If I had unlimited funding that would be my home away from home. But alas..if you can smell the ocean you can't afford to live there.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Laura! I love your disclaimer. I'm alway working on a web page launch. Next weekend. FB was annoying enough.
ReplyDeleteJust launched the FB author page today, so you are not a rock dweller, Tracey.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are in the draw!!
Wow Another great WE Miss Tina I love the beach. I grew up on the beach. smile
ReplyDeleteAnd Glynna my current wip takes place in La Jolla on the beach of course. And in Hawaii also.
So this is a perfect theme for me today. I am right there on the beach ready to grab my surfboard and catch me some waves.
Happy writing everyone.
A WEDDING AND JACKIE IS STILL HERE!!! THAT'S DEVOTION.
ReplyDeleteJackie, you are in the draw!! Have fun, dear!!
Oh Tina Sorry about the dust storm. So typical for this time of year. Just stay inside and write write write.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Ah, walks along the beach, Barb. We settle for our Unpublished Island, where we still hold our yearly parties, despite the fact that the island is empty of Seekers and Captain Jack left, bored with our constant writing.
ReplyDeleteLaura You will be so happy to have your webpage and Facebook page in place when you sign that first contract. Those are two less things you will have to attend to when you're working for your publisher. Also, they look to see if you have those in place and that might give you an edge if they have more than one piece they are considering. Never hurts to be prepared.
ReplyDeleteOh, my, you've had a tough time, Meghan. Continued prayer for comfort.
ReplyDeleteYou are in the drawing.
Thank you to Debby G. Our minister of cards!
AB Lynn you are in. Welcome to Seekerville. Writer or reader, or both?
ReplyDeleteTina What a clever idea to have a party to introduce your page. I have an author page also, but never quite know what to do with it. All my friends are on my Facebook page that uses my real and maiden name. My author page has my author name but I don't know how to get all the friends over to the author page. LOL
ReplyDeleteHere is my author page for Sandra Leesmith if anyone wants to go over and like it. Thanks a bunch.
TINA, love all the splashes of color, very beachy and fun! I love the Weekend Edition. Always fun to see your creativity and hang out with Villagers. A tote full of books should bring out the lurkers, even before next week! Congrats to our winners!
ReplyDeleteOnly two more days to buy Seeker novella collections at the awesome price of .99! I've got them all and the stories are great!
I got my calendar. Who doesn't love a concrete way to see goals met. Thank you, Glynna, for inspiring the idea!
Off to a lampshade store, toting three lamps that badly need new shades. Then I'm off to the beach. At least in my imagination. Here, we're having some badly needed rain.
Janet
I'm with you Megan Where did July go????
ReplyDeleteThank you, TINA and SANDRA! Sandra, I found your page and liked it - thank you for the link!
ReplyDeleteLove (and liked) your new FB author page, TINA! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteMEGHAN, hope you're getting better every day since your hip surgery! So very sorry about the loss of your grandfather.
JACKIE, congratulations on your son's marriage! Praying for their happiness (and your recovery from the festivities)!
We're getting ready for an influx of kids & grandkids on Monday. Our daughter who had the bad riding accident a week go is on the mend, doing very well, and continuing their trip this way--can't wait to see her! Our other daughter & family will come up to join the fun for a day or two. So both daughters & SILs plus 5 of 7 grandkids all under one roof!
Hi Tina, Great author page. I like the sign-up button to get on your mailing list. Please tell us how you did that?
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura Let us know when you get yours and we'll like it back. smile
ReplyDeleteSandra,
ReplyDeleteMy life has been filled with tutorials this week. Email me and I can direct you to one. Youtube has a ton of them.
SANDRA! I can hardly wait for you to finish the book with a La Jolla beach setting!! I can't even describe to anyone the soul-calming sensation of a barefoot walk along that stretch of beach, the soothing sound of the waves, the sun setting on that distant horizon. How wonderful for you to have grown up along the Pacific coast! Our very own "Gidget"!!!
ReplyDeleteNow off I go to work some more on my latest proposal--only 48 hours away from the deadline!!!! :)
Thanks for another great WE, Tina.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad to say, my summer is officially over. Teachers return to work Monday, and students return Thursday. Where did the time go!?!
Luckily, I won a Ruthy critique!! That put a big smile on my face! So, I'll concentrate on that and forget the day job...well at least until 6 a.m. Monday morning.
Ruthy, on my second R&R from my Blurb to Book entry the editor wanted me to delete the first seven pages, so I think I'll take this week to get that first chapter rewritten and polished, then send it your way. Thanks for the prize!!
Thanks for the WE, Tina! Poked around on your new FB page. Yay, you!
ReplyDeleteWish I could walk in flips. I don't dare do that with two replaced hips, lol. Have a great Aug, everyone!
Waving to Jackie! I know the wedding will be wonderful. You are too sweet to stop by today! I'm impressed and touched. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIn my area, teachers go back to school on Monday. My daughter Mary is enjoying her last weekend of vaca.
ReplyDeleteA bit north of ATL, home to three of my grands, the kids return to school Monday. Summer is over in GA! As the temperature climbs. Go figure! I hate having school in AUG. It's been this way for a number of years, but I still struggle with the AUG school schedule. I'd rather be at the beach!!! :)
Can we start talking about ACFW? Who's going? A number of the Seekers will be there. Won't be long until we're gathering in Nashville!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend everyone! Congrats on your FB Author page, Tina!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your FB page Tina. I <3 Seekerville
ReplyDeleteHI Wilani,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you couldn't find this month's LIS books at your Walmart. Some of the authors were mentioning the problem. Evidently the distribution process was the reason. Harper Collins bought LI, and I believe they're trying to meld the two companies. Not sure if that's accurate, but it's what I've heard. Hopefully, it will NEVER happen again.
Can you order the books from Amazon or another online source? Is KMart in your area. The one near me stocks LI books. Sometimes other bookstores do as well. Also you can order books through neighborhood book stores, if you have any in your area. You don't have to pay for shipping, and the cost would be about the same.
I'm so sorry it happened as are all the other LI authors and editors.
Thanks for being such a devoted LI reader. WE APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH!!!
Hugs!!!
I've enjoyed leisurely browsing through all those links while I sit in front of a fan and crunch on ice chips. It is HOT!!! I don't do hot. But the WE was a wonderful distraction.
ReplyDeleteAbout the missing LIS books at Walmart. They aren't listed as available until August 9 online so maybe they will hit the stores late as well. Hopefully that glitch will be fixed for next month.
Happy weekending, everyone.
Another great WE, Tina! Thanks for putting it together!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the summer theme. Although, it feels as if summer has being going a long time here in GA. LOL
Another awesome WE, Miss T! Thank you sooo much for all you do in Seekerville! :)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS to all the winners!! Love the beach theme! (Wishing I was at our Georgia coast right now, LOL).
Cannot believe July has zipped by so quickly - - I KNEW I should've left my Christmas decorations out, because at this rate it'll be December in a flash. *sigh*
Everyone have a safe, wonderful weekend! Please enjoy the Georgia goodies I'm setting out (yes, the usual peach cobbler, pecan pie, and pecan praline coffee cake - - LOTS of sweet treats that are good for quick energy and writing!). ;)
Hugs, Patti Jo
p.s. I agree with MISSY TIPPENS - - feels as if we've been having summer for months and months here in GA, LOL!! ;) Thank the Lord for air conditioning!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, everyone! It's summer outside? I'm inside so much thanks to my very indoor job, that when my family complains about feeling the sun baking them, I get jealous!
ReplyDeleteOh my stars, a dust storm???? Desert living is an adventure! Bring on the camels! And I rode a camel in Phoenix, and it was fun!!!
ReplyDeleteTINA. What a great WE, darling! It is MAHVELOUS, DON'T YOU KNOW???? :)
For those of you who don't know, I kind of killed the WE late last evening and had to run screaming to Tina for help. Blogger has some weird hitches lately, and oops.... Messed it up good!
So Tina, thank you for putting it back together!
And huge congrats to all winners! YOWZA!!!!! So happy for you!
Megan Besing, I skipped right over you. So sorry. Happy Weekend and Happy Summer is almost over to you!
ReplyDeleteWaving hi to Stephanie Sullivan as well!
Lyndee! Good to see you back in the Village, even without flip flops.
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL, Patti Jo! I think you're right. I should have left that stocking on the orange tree!
ReplyDeleteI love that Glynna is giving us phonetic lessons... because honestly?
ReplyDeleteI would have had no idea how to pronounce that. (although it makes sense from a Hispanic POV)
Now I live in Iroquois country, where names like Skaneateles, Irondequoit, Tioughnioga and so many more kind of don't roll off the tongue, either!
Kav, I can just see you in front of that fan. I have a/c and still at this moment have three fans going on in my office. I do not do heat.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy R and Dawn!
ReplyDeleteJackie Layton!!! Praying for a beautiful day and a wonderful wedding! They are a gorgeous couple and they look so exquisitely happy together... God bless you all. And I loved the relaxing with friends facebook pics! Thank you for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteDeana, is this your first time braving Seekerville??? It's about time! Welcome aboard!
ReplyDeleteha! I'm from Chautauqua County myself, Ruthy.
ReplyDeleteMegan, so glad you're doing better! Happy dancing for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's so tough to say goodbye. :( Even when it's got to be that way. Bless you, and may you have continued healing and wondrous creativity!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the awesome giveaway!
Boo, welcome back! Did you see your name on the winners' list???
ReplyDeleteGotta love a gal named "Boo"!
Okay, I'm back to work now, there's farm work to be done and I've got 1K to write later this afternoon...
Back later, my friends!
It would be great to have new books to read!! Please enter me into the giveaway. :)
ReplyDeleteWilani, I had the same problem with WalMart not stocking the Love Inspired Suspense line this month. I told my husband I would have to go to the used book store in Ft. Wayne (30 minute drive) to see if I could get a copy there. So we journeyed out this morning to Ft. Wayne & he suggested we visit the larger WalMart that we would pass on our way. We went in and there the book I wanted (part of the Rookie K-9 series) and I was elated. I will say, our WalMart has gotten worse over the course of the last year in displaying books. They have now cut back from four shelves high to two books side by side in the Love Inspired line to two shelves with two books side by side and then they just toss them on the shelves without any order. I tend to move the other books over to where they belong (some titles have three across and only two books in each spot, so when I arrive, I put all six copied in one spot then I sort the LI books so at least the books are all together and the authors are together as well. Of course I make sure the Seeker books are always up front. I don't cover up any author's books but if I see room can be made so the LI books can be better displayed I do it. WalMart has an outside firm that comes in to merchandise their books (at least they used to) and I really don't think they care...but I do and I know many other people who love LI do as well. You would think they would notice that the LI books sell faster than some of the others and give them more room. They used to be eye level and now they are on the bottom two shelves. It's almost time for me to write a letter to WalMart headquarters.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone has a fantastic day!
Cindy W.
OOOH! CINDY W!!! I love that you do that. You go and writing letters is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteElaine, welcome to Seekerville. You are entered. What part of the world are you from? Reader or writer?? or both?
ReplyDeleteHey, Leslie! You are in.
ReplyDeleteKnow any insider info on the no more LI reviews at RT?
Tina, what a great WE. I only clicked on one link last night! It was the one about the Maverick women and what they're doing. Reading how H. Ward was able to make so much money indie publishing was amazing. Was she the exception or the picture of possibility for most writers? That's the question I was left with. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, sall me silly, but how do you build up an author page? I started one ages ago but, I haven't figured out how to get more exposure for it, that is without spending money to promote it.
I'm hoping to read more of the posts through the weekend. :)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that beach tote!!!! So cute! Put me in the drawing!
ReplyDeleteGreat WE this week. It's so colorful! What a fun way to wake up this Saturday morning!
ReplyDeleteWell, Jeanne, time will tell on the author page. I'm looking at pages of authors who have successfully done this.
Julie Lessman, Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs to see what works.
Also reading a ton of info.
Well, H Ward writes very, very hot so she got in on that wave.
Congrats on the facebook page, Tina! I now have incentive to create a profile on that app---you and Ruthy have some great info to share on Facebook. This month has been a dry spell for writing---working on house projects prior to knee replacement surgery the last week in August. Do real writers write in the face of impending adversity or do they clean and organize? Megan what did you do before your hip surgery? Condolences about your grandpa. Grandparents are the special people in our lives. Please enter my name in the catdish for that wonderful bag of books!
ReplyDeleteOoo. So much information and a fantastic giveaway! Thank you for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI have had seasons of adversity, Olivia and I can say that I found myself drowning in reading and movies. It took twelve months to come out on the other side and to not feel guilty about writing again.
ReplyDeleteIt's different for everyone and we cannot, must not, measure our journey by another's yard stick.
Ruth Kyser, welcome to Seekerville! Reader or writer? Or both. Where do you hail from?
ReplyDeleteMorning, Valri. I think there are Patti Jo peach treats left. Help yourself!
ReplyDeleteEEEK!!! So many goodies this week! Congratulations to the winners of this week! Congrats to TINA for FB author page!!!!! WOOHOO!! Exciting! I'll be sure to bombard you with lots of tags! =P
ReplyDeleteAnd beach reads? REALLY??!! I just booked a long weekend to go to the beach! Perfect timing! *wink wink!
Have a fabulous week, y'all! Can't wait to see many of you in a few weeks!
OLIVIA, Tina is absolutely right--we have to do what's best for us in each season of our lives. Years ago, when my girls were school-age, I had to basically take summers off from writing because of all the running around I was doing with their activities. Now, I'm looking at very little writing for the whole month of August because of family visits, the ACFW conference, and a few other things taking precedence. You do what you can, and you do your best to let the guilt go. You are the only one who can decide what's most important at any given time of your life.
ReplyDeleteFun to see some new visitors! Hope y'all will introduce yourselves and stop by regularly!
ReplyDeleteLove to win a tote full of books.
ReplyDeleteSusan, welcome to Seekerville. Reader or writer or both? Where do you hail from??
ReplyDeleteGood to see you Just Commonly.
ReplyDeleteSo I hear you will be LIVE and IN PERSON and COME ON DOWN in Nashville. That is worth the price of the conference!
Congratulations to this week's winners.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo, TINA has a Facebook author page!
I'd LOVE to win a tote full of books.
HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!!
I would love a tote full of books! Please count me in for the entry!!! <3
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
This is a great prize. Thanks for making it possible.
ReplyDeleteLoved your FB Author Page, Tina! Nice! Like you! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy, for organizing the Walmart bookshelves to highlight Love Inspired and Seeker books! I do the same thing. Every little bit helps, right?
ReplyDeleteHugs to you!
Hey, Caryl! Now that you gave me a good chuckle on FB..good to see you here. You are in for everything.
ReplyDeleteAmy Tyner and CentralEast2! Welcome to Seekerville. You are entered.
ReplyDeleteReaders, writers or both. Let us know where you hail from if you have a minute.
Happy weekend everyone!! Some students around here have already started school. Crazy!!! I'm glad my kids have a couple of weeks left. Almost time for writing again for me. I take summer off to spend time with my family. I would love to be entered to win a beach tote full of books. God bless everyone!
ReplyDeleteKelly!! Long time no see. Yes. Colorado always starts school right around the 2/3 August mark. I have one child who always had to go to school during his August 23rd birthday. Start school and then off for the September holiday. I never could figure that out.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway and I love the flip flops! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment, Tina! I didn't think I had changed my picture, but that isn't actually the picture I thought was there, so who knows? I barely know how to change it!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway and I love the flip flops! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for another fabulous WE edition, Tina! I'm amazed at how much you do! Can't wait to check the links! ANNND CONGRATS on your new FB page, too! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the weekly winners and all authors with upcoming releases.
Here's to a blessed, restful weekend! *clink*
P.S. Since I recently won a wonderful Seekerville giveaway, please exclude my name this time and give someone else the opportunity to win. Thank you again for all you do, Seekerville!
Ruth Kyser, my facebook buddy! So glad to see you over here!!! BIG SMILE from your name-a-like!!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Seekerville, Connie! I went over and visited your blog. You know Ann Gabhart. Lucky you. She is a always a welcome guest around here.
ReplyDeleteCynthia!! Thanks for the kind words.
ReplyDeleteDid your book arrive?
Susan, welcome back! Good to see you over here, too! Waving excitedly from upstate to a sweet Southern friend!
ReplyDeleteOlivia, I might be a pantser writer, but I'm a planner when it comes to my writing. That's why I get up at 4:00 AM to guarantee writing time because days get crazy around here...
ReplyDeleteTina's right, we're all different, but I think we all agree that productivity is your best friend in any kind of publication/publishing.
So I do ignore dust.... :) And there's often some clutter.... And in summer when I'm called to be outside helping on farm stuff, I kind of just ignore the stuff piling up inside.
Hey.
NO ONE HAS DIED!!!!
So at least there's that!
Laughing!
Congrats to all the winners!! So fun to visit, you are all so giving!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading the blog and all the fun comments. Toss me into the
drawing please..
I was so excited to read and check out the AMAZING T's author page I'm not sure I remembered to comment. I've been hearing about those dust storms TINA. You better stay anchored or you'll blow away! We're having quite a thunderstorm here. Got the main lawns mowed before it rained too hard. Thanks for a great WE TINA
ReplyDeleteTina, I only scanned the comments and saw you mention time spent on YouTube. Is that how you learned how to set up your FB page? I keep forgetting about it, but I have a friend who even learned how to replace a bathroom sink stopper thingie on there. Gotta remember YouTube. Hey, we didn't get color TV till I was a senior in high school...and then it was either too green or red most of the time. I need to hire a 10 year old to teach me all the techie stuff.

ReplyDeleteWhoah, 109 comments on the weekend! It must be too hot to go outside!
ReplyDeleteI'm a horrid planner - both writing and time-wise, but I'm trying to be better.
I'll definitely download that calendar. It will be like having my Seeker friends looking over my shoulder and nudging!
Thanks for the WE, Tina!
All those beach pictures have me missing my summer in Maine. Count me in for the tote of books though, even without a beach trip!
TINA, yes Safe in the Fireman's Arms arrived! Squeeee! Thanks ever so much (and thank you, too, for kindly autographing it.) SO tickled!
ReplyDeleteI really despise my inner editor. Grammatical errors. Blech!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Villagers! Love your new fb page Tina. It's great to be able to build followers and fans. I think people are more likely to like an author page than friend them. Thank you for The California Gold Rush Romance Collection! I can't wait to read it, I'm so addicted to novella collections :) Super cute beach tote! Be sure to add my name in the hat!
ReplyDeleteGreat WE! So many wonderful links. And Tina has a FB page. All's right with the world. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Deanna! Thanks for coming over.... And I do believe I have an upcoming CHRISTMAS NOVELLA with Deanna's name in it! Deanna was my 2000th facebook friend!
ReplyDeleteSo she got herself into Silent Night, Starlit Night from St. Martin's Press this fall!!!
Marianne, have you ever seen the duststorms when you're in AZ? I've watched them on television , on The Weather Channel and in movies, but they're amazing. And scary!
ReplyDeleteCate, we love looking over people's shoulders....
ReplyDeleteHey, it's time for us to have coffee and pastries again, isn't it? I haven't been to NYC since last summer.... Time for a visit!
Thanks for the Info on the Love Inspired situation. I am seriously considering checking into ordering on line. Since I live in a small town and am not able to drive. I am very seldom in KMart. I do however have a ride to Walmart usually once a week. At least now I know our Walmart wasn't the only one.
ReplyDeleteLOLOL on the inner editor, Cynthia!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi. That's good insider information too!
ReplyDeleteI love novellas too.
You are in for the bag o' books.
Wilani there is a link to the bookclubs too.

ReplyDeleteI have an author page, though things aren't as active there. Maybe I'll figure out social media one day!
ReplyDeleteJanet
MEGHAN, I'm sorry about the loss of your grandfather. Hoping you're doing well with your new hip.
ReplyDeleteJanet
RHONDA, hope you have a great class and an enjoyable school year!
ReplyDeleteDEBBY, my daughter has another week before she heads back to the classroom. Can't believe how early school starts now. In the Dark Ages it started after Labor Day. :-)
Janet
Almost choked on that Dark Ages comment.
ReplyDeleteYes. In my day, we walked six miles barefoot in snow, in the summer no less.
Yay! I read through all 128 comments. #hanging10 - Enjoyed the surf theme Tina. I pretended to smell salt in the air...it goes along with that Jimmy Buffett concert on tv yesterday. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners over this past week! Isn't is so exciting?! ;)
Congrats on the #awesome FB page Tina. #FunTimes
AND - thank you for the shout out! But golly, after seeing my article in print here - I better spend more time choosing my article titles! ;)
Glynna - stickers on the calendar is a fun idea!
Ruth - SOOooo...if you start the day at 4 am to write....when do you turn in at night? Are you also a night owl?
Next week looks brilliant btw. Looking forward to it. Lurker weekend = great idea! ;) And to the August Inspirational romance giveaway. It looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteWith August just around the corner - that also means autumn leaves are not far behind! I did some shopping today and noticed several stores had already stocked fall decor. AH!
Re: Christmas in July eBook sale - I'm looking forward to all these Christmas stories too! Even with triple digits, I'm starting to dream of apple cider and hot chocolate (with marshmallows…or whipped cream of course!) :)
Also, awesome article link from CopyBlogger on website pop-up forms. I concur - consider your readers/target audience…with so many sites I visit using them, it's easy to get pop-up box overload. A signup form in another area of the site could be a better fit in the long run! :)
Meg, your palm trees fit in very nicely.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to this week's winners! Love the Maverick women article. So inspiring. Hopping over to Tina's new author page...
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm super excited and thankful about winning a copy of How to Write a Brilliant Romance. Thanks to Glynna! Now the pressure is on. LOL
ReplyDeleteTina - love the WE and your new author page on Facebook. I've already been over and visited.
TINA, thanks for sharing those names of a few who have successful Facebook pages. I need to study up on them. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I didn't say it this morning, but I love that tote. And to have one full of books? Yeah, that sounds pretty amazing. Please add me to that drawing. :)
PS—I enjoyed the Writing Cave blog. Very insightful. :)
Jeanne, you are in the drawing!!!! That tote is adorable. I may order another for myself.
ReplyDeletePatricia W and the Seekers are some of the few people who knew me when I had another name.
ReplyDeleteI was counting the years. That is probably not a good idea.
Good to see you, Patricia. You are in the drawing.
The short story vending machine! What a great idea. And what an exercise in writing discipline to write one of those short-short-short stories.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners! Congrats to Tina! Happy weekend to all!
Nancy C
Hello Seekers! Y'all know how to throw a party! A bag full of books? YES, PLEASE enter me!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all you winners!
I know, Nancy. Pretty cool, huh?
ReplyDeleteHi Beth Erin! You are in! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and festive WE, Tina.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your NEW PAGE! And to all the winners.
*I* turned in the manuscript for May the K9 Spy's 4th book last weekend and have almost completed the front/end matter... Cover designer working diligently. Illustrator has done a pawmazing job bringing the story to life. Yes. I'm excited. Been two long years getting 'er done but we're about there.
Ice cream for everyone!!!
(Seriously, there's an Exxon station nearby which has hand scooped ice cream - Mayfield - YUM - an overflowing 6oz styrofoam cup (about 3 regular scoops I'd guess) for $1.50 plus tax. That's right. We can have an ice cream date and get outta there for $3.29. Gotta love it. I had "Caramel Pie" and "Extreme Moose Tracks" to celebrate.
YAYYYYY!
Ok - thanks again for all the links. Will be reading thru.
Enjoy!
Really appreciate all of the good articles you offer!
ReplyDeleteThey have been very helpful in improving my plotting and in PR for my published books
Megs, no... I try to get into bed by 9 or 9:30.... and sometimes the 4:00 AM alarm (which is really K-Love radio, what a nice way to wake up, right????) goes off and sometimes I'm already awake. I figured if Edward from "Pretty Woman" could get by on 6 hours a night, I could train myself to do the same.
ReplyDeleteOf course he was fictional, but Richard Gere was so stinkin' cute in that movie! :)
It is 4:23 right now, I scanned e-mails for anything important or crazy fun (not promos or social stuff...) and now Seekerville because it's a hoppin' place to be and then facebook for ten minutes... by then I'm awake enough to write for 90 minutes and see what that gets me before the day begins for the world.
With my ginormous family I had to find some way to write that worked for me.... And then I just started waking up around 3:45 and finally realized God was opening a window of opportunity!
And it worked! What a great God and a marvelous window!
The ice cream sounds marvelous, KC! And congrats on getting this one done, some things take longer than others!
ReplyDeleteMmm....... ice cream.
Abbott's Frozen Custard of Hilton.......
Mmmmmmm.....................
Joan, welcome to Seekerville! We love storytellers and readers here!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Tina, on your Facebook author page - I signed up, liked and shared, lol!! And congrats, winners!!
ReplyDeleteSure wish I was at the beach right now, but would love that tote full of books even if I don't make it to the beach again this summer!!
Thank you!!
Well, thanks, Bonton! You don't mess around. You are in the drawing for the tote.
ReplyDeleteA second welcome to you, Joan! What are you working on?
ReplyDeleteIce cream for breakfast! Yes!! Congrats K.C!! Hi five paw to May!
ReplyDeleteYay, KC! Congrats on book # 4!!! You and May are a great team!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit your Exxon ice cream shop! Amazing price. So much for your money! Loving it!
There was a little drug store in Athens, GA, when my eldest attended UGA, that had two-scoop ice cream cones for 25 cents! We'd always stopped whenever we visited our daughter. As you can imagine, the drug store did a great business...especially in the spring and summer!
Waving to Ruthy who's been up for four-plus hours already! Whenever I wake--no matter the time--I always know you've gotten up before me...and we live in the same time zone. Of course, I do go to bed a lot later than you. Not that I'm very productive in those late night hours. :)
ReplyDeleteJackie, hoping for a wedding update!!! You and your family were in my thoughts and prayers yesterday. And I'm still covering the after-wedding plans. Hugs!
My last weekend before going back to the world of 8th graders! I taught elementary for 34 years and now doing a 12 week stint in 8th grade Civics! Books take me away...
ReplyDeleteA supercute tote stuffed with books?! Put me in!
ReplyDeleteRuthy - wow. I aspire to be a SUPER early riser but I'm not there yet...like, not even close!
Curious as to whether the seekers are kindle (or e-book) fans or if you prefer holding the book in your hands. I LOVE my kindle...and I love Book Bub - glad to see Tina, you've joined.
Happy weekend everyone!
Josee, I use and love both. My kids are split.... some still cling to the tradition of paper, some are in love with e-readers. And they're all in their 20's and 30's now....
ReplyDeleteThe early rising (as you can see, 6 kids and two jobs when I started) was of necessity... but it worked so well! I never had to feel guilty like I was robbing time from my family...
So that was (singing this next!!!) AWESOME!!!!
Debby, waving back to you!
ReplyDeleteThat was part of the other reason for going to bed early and getting up early. I'm a bear at night, I'm not nice when I'm tired, and I got nothing done.
So I watch the 3 or 4 shows I love on demand when there's time or I need a break, and other than that, I gave up TV.... because I like my alternative reality of fiction so much better!
:)
I have found a new favorite ice cream, Tina and all...
ReplyDeleteIt's from Abbott's Frozen Custard and they call it "Ambrosia Salad" so think Spumoni but better... It's pistachio pineapple custard with huge monster-sized cherries and chopped nuts.
Amazing.
And in Phoenix we went to a re-enacted Gold Mine town outside of the city that was so much fun and they have an ice cream there to die for. Dynamite Crunch. OH MY STARS. Worth the trip just to get this old fashioned amazingly delicious ice cream!
And then one more, from Perry's, a New York ice cream maker.... Caramel Praline Turtle...
Only a few places around here have that one, and I must go sample it before the season gets away from me!
Abbott's is closest, so I keep myself supplied with "Ambrosia Salad".
My guilty pleasure along with getting dirty in the yard!
Fun weekend edition!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the winners and thank you for the book I won!
Please enter me for the tote of books drawing.
Happy summer & may God bless all of Seekerville!
What a fun Weekend Edition...love the comments.
ReplyDeleteThis has been my ONLY chance to check in this week...SO much going on! Anyway, LOVE, LOVE the tote and to think it's full of books...YAY!!
Congrats to all the winners...it's always such a delight to win!!
Love your new author page on FaceBook, Tina.
Please enter me for the tote/books drawing!!
Sunday Inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHow to 'Shop' and 'Experience' a Setting for your next Story!
Last night I was reading the amazingly vivid depiction of the Grand Canyon in Sandra Leesmith's novella, "New Beginnings" (from the Seeker novella collection, "Love Will Find a Way") when it hit me! All of a sudden I was transported back to my treadmill exercising days when I spend hours walking thru my Grand Canyon walking and stairstepper exercise videos.
While I've been to the Grand Canyon several times, I've never experienced the Grand Canyon as deeply as those hours of tapes afforded me.
Then I thought about my other exercise tapes from around the world. Next, I rushed over to YouTube and found many more walking tours.
There is a great video from Rome. It brought back the day my wife and I walked over twenty miles in one day (pedometer verified). These are not tourist tapes. They are walking tapes at walking speeds to show what is really there -- compete with problems and unsightly sightseeing views and all.
On YouTube viewing these videos are free. So why not 'shop' (or scout) locations for your next story? Why not walk them? Spend an hour or so seeing what is really there -- warts and all. Hear the sounds, see the mice run across the trail as you approach? (Yes, the mice on the trail are in the Banff walking video.) Why not pick up all the little details that make a scene come alive?
It's all possible and it will be my new M.O. when starting a new story or when editing a WIP in the future. You can be there like you are there! And not like a tourist back home looking at cliché pictures designed for sightseers.
Here are two samples on YouTube to give you a taste of what I think is the next best thing to being there. Besides, being there is often overvalued since getting there can steal too much of your writing time.

Give your readers the 'real' experience!
Vince
P.S. Special thanks to Sandra. Nobody does the Southwest better!
Mary Lawson, so good to see you here. I see you on FB all the time. Sorry your beach party is really almost over!!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding, Josee? I have over 600 books on my Kindle and yes. Love Book Bub. I'm there as a reader and an author.
ReplyDeleteIce cream torture again? I'd pass on the Ambrosia. I am definitely a caramel praline gal.
ReplyDeleteVince, that's a great idea! Going to look at those videos today. Thanks.
ReplyDeletePhyllis and Kate Barker. Happy Sunday. It's been a non-stop party here. You are both entered!
ReplyDeleteWowsers! Such a fun beach party and with a fun group of people. I have my shades on, my shoes off, and chatting with a great group of friends.
ReplyDeleteMary Vee!!! Wonderful to see you. What are you working on...I mean besides your tan. We're all allowed to work on that this weekend. LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou are in the drawing!
Barbara Scott, yes whenever I need to learn something YouTube videos help! Or Zi type my question into Google and get an answer! Internet encyclopedias !
ReplyDeleteWhat is Zi type, Tina? Please enlighten your tech-challenged friend!
ReplyDeleteJosee, I'm a book gal. Love to hold the real thing in my hands and flip back and forth as I read. I have a Kindle but it's not my reader of choice!!!
Ruthy, I rarely watch TV, except for a news show or two. And Hallmark movies on SAT night. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd we're in the dark ages concerning televisions...so we don't record and infrequently do on demand.
Great tip, Vince! Thank you! I like the idea of walking tours. Such a wonderful resource!
ReplyDeleteThat was a typo. I type...
ReplyDeleteVINCE, I love the idea of visiting potential settings this way! Thanks for sharing the idea!
ReplyDeleteJanet
JOSEE, I prefer a book--I love holding a book in my hands and seeing them lined up on my shelves like old friends--but I also appreciate the convenience (and often a lower price) of reading eBooks on my iPad. So both work for me!
ReplyDeleteJanet
My idea of a perfect summer vacation, beach & books what more could a person ask for except chocolates to go with it all.
ReplyDeleteJanet E.

It looks like you've got a lot of fun things planned for August. I'm hoping to get a lot of reading and relaxation in. I'd love to win a tote full of books! What a fun prize! Thanks to all of you for sharing your time and talents with us!
ReplyDeleteWinnie T from UT
Thanks for the sweet words, Winnie. You are in the draw!
ReplyDeleteLibrary Lady is back!! Hi Janet! You are right. Sadly those chocolates keep getting eaten before we can give them away! ha!
ReplyDeleteExciting Weekend Edition!! I love a good beach day!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's good to be back. I've been without internet for a couple of weeks since we moved, and the comments wouldn't post from my phone for some reason. But I'm here and loving it now - and just in time for that cute tote!
Megan, so glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteTina, did you mention chocolate?
Isn't it strange how sometimes Blogger on the phone won't work? No reason either. Makes me crazy!
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back, Megan Brummer Drive-By Writer Extraordinaire.
Tina, love your author page! Congratulations on the launch!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the WE information! I'm a Seekerville WE link?!?! TINA, THANK YOU SO MUCH! And thanks to those who stopped by for a visit!
Congratulations to all the winners! Looks like another great week ahead.
We just returned from a family reunion in Grand Lake, Colorado...a perfect summer activity.
Printing off the August calendar...to keep track of Seekerville events and to keep my writing on track, and heading to read the comments and other links. :)
Happy remainder of the weekend to all!
I haven't been here for a long while and I missed it!
ReplyDeleteMarsha!~!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Have some lemonade. Good to see you.
Grand Lake, Sherida. Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteOur goal is back to Denver before three years have passed.
Sniff. I miss Colorado.
TINA, you're going to move back to COLORADO?! I'm so excited to hear this. :)
ReplyDeleteVINCE! I love the virtual YouTube walk/hike concept for research. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteYes. And my husband wants to live in the Springs.
ReplyDeleteMy great-grandmother is buried in Colorado Springs. She had tuberculosis and went there, hoping for the fresh air "cure"... Thank you God for antibiotics!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! I have enjoyed it immensely, gotten some lovely writing done and some fun garden stuff in the "fairy garden"...
And I'm going to sign off before I am tempted to a bedtime snack. If I'm sleeping, I won't think about food!!!! :)
Sherida, welcome home!
I'm ready for the beach party. Looking forward to August.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to August because it's one step closer to cooler weather. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the beach bag! I'm going to the beach in the fall, so that would be the perfect addition to my ensemble. Of course, the books would be as well:)
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I did it again!!! Read the WE this morning before church and forgot to comment, so my apologies!!
ReplyDeleteTina, SUPER CONGRATS on your author page, darlin' -- I LOVE it!! AND I about choked when I read your response to Jeanne that said: "Well, Jeanne, time will tell on the author page. I'm looking at pages of authors who have successfully done this. Julie Lessman, Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs to see what works."
You put me in the same sentence as Debbie and Susan??? YIKES!! I just think you made my month. Mmm ... I wonder which of us three make the most money ...
About choked a horse when I read that Nora has sold an average of 13 books per minute over the last twenty years, according to publisher Penguin. Long before ebooks, romance has consistently dominated the US fiction market, generating around $1 billion in sales each year as far back as 2000."
Oh. My. Goodness!!! You would think she would share the wealth!! ;)
Great WE, my friend!!
Hugs,
Julie
Happy WE everyone!! Tina I popped over to your new author page on Facebook and "liked" and commented on your post. I am loving both the page and the fact that we can connect with you on there also! What a great way to know what you are up to :-)(did that sound ominous or was that just my own imagination?) At any rate, congrats!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome giveaway for 40 books on BookSweeps! That would be a readers dream come true, can't wait to enter :-D And a beach bag full of books, well that's just heaven right there...thanks for the chance!
Looking forward to another awesome week here on Seekerville
Wow, I missed the party. You guys were rockin and rollin this weekend. Yay.
ReplyDeleteMust be the beach. We got used to great beach parties while living on unpubbed island. chuckle
Thanks Vince You gave me a great idea too since my current wip is in Hawaii and they are surfing, I got out all my hubbies surf videos. God me right in the mood.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments about NEW BEGINNINGS in our anthology LOVE WILL FIND A WAY
Meant GOT me in the mood. But I guess God was there all along. chuckle
ReplyDeleteLove The New Calendar!
ReplyDeleteThat August Event Calendar is the best yet! The image is the message! It's fun to look at!
Hi Sandra & All:
ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate the power of those exercise videos!
When you are walking on your treadmill, while watching the video, part of your mind can get to think it is real. There is one segment in the Grand Canyon video where you are walking on the side of a cliff -- on a three foot wide ledge -- with a mile down drop-off, and there are people coming the other direction!
I always hated for that part to come up! I would never take that walk in real life but people do it every day. What a great scene for a romance. I can just see the heroine frozen in place against the cliff with the hero coming the other way. Why I'd just turn around and let her look at my back until we got off that ledge. What a way to meet!
BTW: the heroine is a combat veteran trying to conquer her fear of heights. She's an alpha female! He's an ex-SEAL. She hates that he is helping her like she was some TSTL romance heroine! Just wait to he says the wrong thing!!!
Thank you for your encouragement about keeping priorities when writing seems to go astray! My answer for this month: Go back to the online Bible study, immerse in God's great love and the rest gets figured out! My sign where I can see it daily, "Keep calm and pray."
