  1. Happy Weekend Seekerville!.

Debby! Congratulations on your book birthday. So happy to have another Debby Giusti baby in the world.

Now I must take a bow. Pat self on back. I did my web page all my myself. No help from techy spouse. Okay, well he did handle the domain issue. Thank you, techy spous. xoxoxo.

Okay, back to cave. Much to do this lovely weekend! Cheers, Villagers.

    And please take the survey.

Several of next week's posts are based on results. Plus, a beloved author was invited to blog during our birthday month, thanks to your survey results.

    Survey's matter!!!

  4. Tina, love the new digs, and mega congrats on doing it yourself! YES!!!!!

And thank you for another (as always!) marvelous WE.... and I can't wait to read Plain Truth so I'm ordering it online because it's harvest time at the veggie stand and it's better to do this than venture away...

The blue pumpkins might miss me!

I zipped into a couple of links, will catch more later. I love our WE links. They're about the size writing stuff I can read and not fall asleep... I'm definitely more in tune with blog posts and magazine articles than full books on craft, so the WE is perfect for lightweights like me!

  5. COFFEE IS HERE!!!!

I'm starting my first writing sprint before life gets crazy here today and tomorrow... I love these early (read: non-interrupted) writing hours!!!

  6. Tina is venturing forth from her cave to speak....

    Ruthy is proud of her!

    Go get 'em, Tiger!!!!

  7. Thanks for spotlighting PLAIN TRUTH on the WE, Tina! And thanks for all the congrats. Nice to have a book on the shelves...at least in some bookstores AND Walmart. Also KMart. Who has KMarts near them. I think Meijers carries Love Inspired as well.

Just got the word that Books-A-Million will host my local signing. The manager never heard back from corporate, but the books are in the store. I'll be signing at the Peachtree City BAM on Sept 22, 4-6:30 PM. (Really miss my wonderful independent book store that had to close. A sad day in PTC!)

  8. Congrats to all the winners. Thanks for the links, Tina. Lots to read!

Must check out Miss Tina's new digs! Congrats on doing it all yourself, Tina, with only a little help from hubby. :) I'm impressed. But then you always impress me!

  9. My town's holding a DIVA 1/2 Marathon today that my daughter's running so I'll be hopping in and out today. Also baseball and soccer games for the grands. Busy, but fun day!

Love the week-ahead lineup. Can't wait to see what Myra writes about ACFW and what REALLY happens. Hmmm? Was Myra taking pics behind our backs? We'll find next next week!

And Julie's sharing highlights from the Pucker Up Panel. Get ready to learn something new about kissing. :)

  10. Debby, congratulations on your new book! I can't wait to read it.

I hope your daughter has a good race. She must be in great shape to run a half marathon.

Tina, you're the one who got me to read my first Jack Reacher book. My son saw it and started reading some of them too.

Congrats to all the winners! Thanks for another great WE, Tina!

  11. Congratulations to all of the winners. Yay Debby on your latest release. I love that cover!

  13. DEBBY!! SUPER CONGRATS ON THE RELEASE OF YOUR NEW BOOK -- YAY!! Looks like another winner, my friend, and that's the "Plain Truth"! ;)

EXCELLENT WE, Teenster, ESPECIALLY the link on "How to Run a Successful Book Price Promotion" since I am getting ready to run another promotion in the next few weeks or so, so THANK YOU!! It actually answered all the questions I had so I don't have to bug Ruthy again ... ;)

Spending the day with a childhood friend I haven't seen in years. She is struggling with just turning 65 and is flying in so we can do a memory tour of all the places we experienced together. Should be fun ... as long as I wear the right shoes ... ;)

    Hugs and Happy Weekend, everyone!

    Julie

    Beautiful new website, Tina!

Lovely new website, Tina. Maybe you could do a post on how to design a website. Hmm.

Congratulations to all the winners, too.

Thanks to one and all for the links [and to Tina for compiling them]. Loved the "Just Tie the Darn Knot" post ... and The Book Designer post is not only a keeper, but goes to the top of the stack in my notebook.

Looking forward to Angela's visit next week. Those thesauruses ... thesauri ... anyhow the books that Becca and she produce are fantastic help for showing in writing :-)

  27. Chill N! The LI art dept does a great job, IMHO. Glad you find the sky suspenseful!

Interesting tweet from Emily Rodmell, my amazing editor. I'm surprised folks won't make changes to their work and then resubmit.

  28. Sheer bliss -- cooler temps, a rainy day, paraolympics and WE. Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon! :-)

If we already did the survey but thought of something else can we do the survey again? Or should I even bother asking that since it's anonymous and you wouldn't be any the wiser.

I am uber excited about the conference report days...Wheeee!

Congrats on your book birthday, Debby. No need to enter me in the draw...I've ordered Plain Truth from HQ and hopefully it will arrive soon. I ordered it last month too but it was listed as Out of Stock then so I thought I'd give it another try this month. :-)

  29. Lots of great info and links! Thanks for sharing, Tina and others.

    Debby, I love your covers!

Kav, we could sure use some of your cooler weather! It's terrible here in Georgia. And we're still having a bad drought.

  30. Thanks, Kav and Jan!

T-ball is over. Now on to the soccer field!

  32. Great WE, TINA! Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone with new books! So exciting!

Love your new website, TINA - great design, and a cool way to display photos!

Don't put me in the drawing for PLAIN TRUTH - I've already read it, and LOVED it!

Off to check out the links! Thank you!!

  33. Debby, I haven't read Plain Truth yet because my hubby snagged it first! He wanted to read another suspense book, (He loves Richard Mabry.) and your new book was the only suspense in the house. I asked him for his opinion, and he said it's really good and he's really enjoying it--not bad for a man who rarely reads fiction. However, last night he dropped it into the tub as he was reading, so it's drying out today. lol

Love your new site, Miss Tina!

Thanks all, for the site kudos.

  44. Barbara Scott, I'm on the floor laughing at the book in the tub!!!

I had a puppy eat one of Missy's signed books a few years back. SHREDDED IT.

    OY.

You'd think writers would be more careful, right???? Nope.

I think that was the same summer I left my original copy of Karen White's "Falling Home" out in the pouring rain.

It was never quite the same!

    :)

    Both have been replaced since.

    But I'm still laughing!!!

  47. Thank you, Winnie and Seekers for blessing this reader (and fueling the addiction, lol)
Congratulations on your newest book baby, Debby! I believe that was one of the titles in my CFRR bag!
The weather is finally beautiful here in southern Illinois, wind is blowing from the north, the humidity is lower, and the sun is shining! Have a wonderful weekend bookish friends!

  48. Congratulations on your new book release, Debby! It looks and sounds fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  49. BETH, the weather is great here in Indiana. too. Natures greens and blues are vivid in the low humidity and sunshine. Has anyone noticed dark is coming earlier! Before we know it, our clocks will fall back here and dark will be even earlier.

  51. Beth, thanks for sharing The Reader's Prayer on your lovely blog site...and for spreading the word about PLAIN TRUTH!!! I so appreciate your support.

  52. Home from a lovely weekend with the grands. Settling back into "my normal."

Remembering 9/11! Love that the flags are flying at half-mast, which they should be. God bless all our heroes from that tragic day and following.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I just now had to time to look at the weekend edition.
I won Ruthy's book. Yay me!

And I was surprised by the results of Emily's revision survey. I thought most people would either believe it was a reject or didn't finish their novel, not disagree w/the editor.

  54. A gorgeous Sunday here in Philly. Congratulations to all the other winners from last week. Many thanks for the Labor Day book package. Kudos to Debby on the release of Plain Truth and to Tina on the new site. I love The Writer's Prayer. Thank you, Debby, for this. Appreciate all the links too.

  55. It's football season again...kickoff for Seattle Seahawks and Dolphins today (Sunday)! Thought I'd pop over here and read the WE. Great to see my team (Seahawks) stand up, link arms and unite as one to honor and remember 9/11! What a powerful statement they made today!

Congrats to all the winners! Looking forward to another great week on Seekerville! Please add my name for a copy of Debby's book Plain Truth! Congrats on the book release Debby, so excited for you!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Beth Erin! Nice profile pix. You look lovely.

BTW, Cindy Regnier, thanks for the kind words on my upcoming release's cover.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Actually I guess I've heard that people just don't respond to revision requests and submission requests but I've never really understood why.
I think more than you'd realize authors see revision letters are rejection letters and requests as sort of low-likelihood contacts and figure it's not worth it.

I've heard people here describe the 'rejection letter' (or maybe not here on Seekerville but on writer's loops) and had others say, "That's not a rejection, that's a revision letter."

Maybe it's rooted in dejection or expecting the worst. Or getting rejected so many times you just assume it happened again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I love Seekerville and always get so much from your lessons. In the last post, Debby Giusti discussed the "writing fast" method and referred to her AlphaSmart 3000. I've noticed a few mentions of this (AlphaSmart) recently. Without initiating a selling campaign or stepping on toes, can anyone give me the yeahs and nays of the AlphaSmart? I'm not familiar with it. What's the advantage? Love you all and blessings to you!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Forgot to tell you in my previous post, Debby Giusti, that we begin all of our Pens of Praise writers group meetings with your writers prayer. Blessings to you!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Janet, We watch the time for sunset around here so we can close the door for our free range chickens before dark! There were some noisy coyotes out here over the weekend.

Debby, It's my pleasure! Your words blessed my reader heart!

Tina, Thank you so much! I usually have my hair down so I thought it was time to take a rare selfie. Have to make sure my internet friends will recognize me if we happen to meet in person (on the equally rare occasions when I leave the house) :D

    ReplyDelete
  61. Rebecca, you've touched my heart. Thanks for letting me know how you start your meetings!

    Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Rebecca, the Alpha is a word processor with a tiny, four-or five-line screen. Few editing functions. Delete by backspacing, on mine. So you can't edit as you go. You just write and thus move forward with your story. The Alpha holds 8 files that, when downloaded to a PC, equates to about 25 manuscript pages per file. It's lightweight. Portable and works on 3 AA batteries. It was originally made for special ed kids so it's durable and seemingly unbreakable. Easy to tuck in a purse or tote and take anywhere.

    I love mine!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Laurie, I am so excited that you are coming to Georgia next year! Squee! Thanks for the post because I always love tips to increase writing productivity.

This was so helpful to me. I have done NaNo for the past three years, and I won't be doing it this year (and I'm already missing it) as I will be editing and revising the books I've written the past two years for NaNo. I've combined two things I've learned from Tina and from a fellow GRW member: I've learned I write best in twenty to twenty-five minute spurts, and I can go for a while as long as I get breaks between those spurts. If I'm really in a writing groove and it's a scene that I've really thought about on a treadmill or in traffic, then I will sometimes disregard the timer and (to use a cliche) strike while the iron is hot. I am also learning to have my A list, B list, C list, D list (thank you, Tina).
