Have a great reading and writing weekend.
Happy weekend! I hope everyone has a special Memorial Day. I'm pretty excited for the next few days- we'll be hanging out with a Medal of Honor recipient at an event in L.A. since my husband works for the MoH foundation. Traffic is bad there so I'll probably get a few books read in the car ;)
ReplyDeleteHow special, Heidi. There are so few living Medal of Honor recipients. Under 200! Please give him my thanks for his heroic sacrifice. God bless him and all our military heroes and heroines!
DeleteBTW, do you live in the greater LA area? We lived at Fort Irwin, in the Mojave Desert. Think Barstow and then go 36 miles into no man's land. We loved our time there...but going into LA was always a traffic nightmare. Praying you to your wonderful event!
DeleteSounds exciting Heidi. Enjoy those reads too. Best way to get through traffic as long as you aren't driving. LOL
DeleteHeidi! What a wonderful way to spend this memorable holiday!
DeleteWhat an honor and a blessing, Heidi! Your hubby's job sounds fascinating. :)
DeleteDebby we live in San Diego. We pass Fort Irwin when we go through Calico on our way north to Utah. That really is no man's land!
DeleteMy husband is a high school history teacher but 1-3 times a month he travels with recipients to locations all over the country training teachers and administrators on the Medal of Honor Foundation's character education curriculum. It's been such a blessing to our family and he's been able to rub shoulders with some amazing people.
http://themedalofhonor.com/
While at Irwin, the children and I would head to Coronado Island each summer for some beach time. Loved it there. My husband would join us if his schedule permitted.
DeleteCalico Ghost Town was always a fun spot. Whenever anyone visited, we'd take them there. Always loved stepping back into the Old West!
I goggled the M of H foundation. It sounds wonderful and so needed these days. Thank your husband for the important work he's doing to direct students along the right path. God bless him!
Good morning, Seekerville! Congratulations to all the winners... and huge thanks to all of you for making my Wednesday in Seekerville so much fun! I had a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteBusy planting, writing, cleaning weekend here, all weather dependent, of course.... and then Monday morning we all troop off to the village of Hilton and cheer on everyone walking in our Memorial Day parade. Rain or shine, we'll be there!
A three-day weekend.... Oh my stars, this is a welcome thing! :)
A parade on Monday! How fun! Our town has a 4th of July parade that is always fun!
DeleteHappy Memorial Day weekend!
Hi Ruthy, Lots of fun activities here too in SunRiver, Oregon where I finally landed. whew. Long stretches of desert. Have a blessed holiday.
DeleteIt's a 3 day weekend here, but I'm trading one job (babysitting) for writing/editing to meet my deadline.
DeleteNiece's 2 yo is having a birthday party Sunday, and it's likely we'll have a family get-together on Monday and I'll get baby time anyway.
Win/win!
Good morning guys. ;) Ruthy sounds like she packed in a load of fun for the weekend. I hope everyone stayed safe and sound. We had lots of afternoon showers.
DeleteI ventured out to a craft store that had some yarn on sale (my only other shopping escape since the Christian bookstores are gone). And I bought a Craftsy class...or two...lol. They had a sale for Memorial Day - goody goody.
Please sign me up for a beach read giveaway! Sound like good escapism.
I just finished reading Jill Elizabeth Nelson's new book (Rocky Mountain Sabotage). I stayed up 'til 3am finishing it - awesome! :D It was sooooo fun - think of it: a sabotaged charter plane with a whole bunch of executives on board along with a mom and her single daughter...and the main pilot who is ex-military (did I mention he was single too?). After a crash landing in an abandoned mining town in a valley without an exit - what could possibly go wrong? Oh, golly!
So yeah, it was blissful escapism. And after the FB conversation about John Wayne westerns, I loved the abandoned town idea. :D
Have a safe week guys. Take time to smell the roses. <3 <3 <3
Good Morning all.....I was offline most of the week due to internet problems....missed the great posts, comments, etc. :-(
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can catch up. Happy Memorial Day to all.
Please enter me for the beach reads!
Sorry about your wifi problems, Jackie. So frustrating. Glad you're back in action! :)
DeleteHi Jackie, Me too. Only my internet problems were from traveling across huge expanses of unpopulated desert. No internet. Isn't it frustrating? But at the same time a nice break. LOL Happy writing.
DeleteWelcome back, Jackie Smith!
DeleteNo internet? Horrors!
DeleteCongratulations to all of the winners. A big congrats to Debby, the Wisconsin Fab Five Winners and finalists as well as the Touched by Love Finalists. Happy Memorial Day weekend to all. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jill! Enjoy the weekend. Hugs to your sweet dad!
DeleteSchool is out for the summer and lots of folks in my area are heading to the beach. I, regrettably, am not! But I can play on Seekerville Island, formally known as Unpubbed Island! Wonder if Captain Jack will show up?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners! So much good news!
Enjoy the weekend. God bless our military heroes and heroines!
I am especially grateful to Seekerville this week for Ruthy's and Melanie's posts. I was going to put something on social media, specifically on LinkedIn, and those two posts helped me to draw back and reconsider. Not every thought needs to be expressed, especially on Social. I decided to concentrate on the writing instead. Have a busy weekend planned with planting and cleaning, like Ruthy, but also know I can skin off some time for writing. I met with my crit partner Thursday for our usual chapter-of-the-month. Working on my Speedbo project, which I guess is now my WIP, going through my draft with Debby's Easy Editing Tips, and last night I began Deconstructing a Romance Novel with Tina's tips from earlier this year. Feeling blessed.
ReplyDeleteKathy Bailey
Making it all work in New Hampshire
Sounds like a plan Kathy. Best to stay positive and get all those projects going, especially the writing. Yay. Have fun.
DeleteKB! Another deconstructer! Be still my heart.
DeleteI should review my Easy Editing Tips! :)
DeleteHope you have a productive day! I'm hoping mine is as well. Hugs!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks for a great WE! Congrats to all of the finalists and winners!
And Deby, Whoohoo! Congrats to you on Amish Refuge!!! Way to go! What a thrill to be on Publishers Weekly Bestsellers List!
Thanks, Jackie, for your congrats about Amish Refuge making the bestsellers list. Such a delightful surprise. I found out the day before my birthday and felt it was a gift from God. He is so thoughtful! :)
DeleteHappy weekend!! My kids are all home from college and out of school for the summer. Yay!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the contest congrats I'm still on cloud 9!! And super excited for Melanie's book!
Wishing you all a blessed Memorial Weekend and thanking God for our warriors.
Have fun with those kids from college. I bet you'll hear lots of interesting stories. Maybe stuff for new wip. chuckle.
DeleteI love having kids home. Enjoy! And enjoy the glow from that wonderful contest win, Sharee! You're on a roll!!!
DeleteLove when good things happen to nice people! :)
Happy weekend Seekerville! And congratulations to all the winners! I'm looking forward to this 3-day weekend and getting time to spend with family and my latest work in progress! Have a great weekend everyone!
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!
DeleteWow lots of congrats due. Super congrats to all the finalists. Yay!!! And of course congrats to the fortunate winners of all the books. Yay again. Have a wonderful and blessed holiday weekend. Happy reading and happy writing.
ReplyDeleteI wish all of you a great holiday weekend and I hope that all of us will take time to reflect on the reason we observe Memorial Day. May we remember and honor all who have gone forth and served and may we never forget their sacrifices. Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and races and they deserve this day of remembrance!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet visited Unpublished Island and I am looking forward to it!
Connie
cps1950(at)gmail(dot)com
Yes, Connie, good reminder. I have several family members who served and we honor their memory especially. Have a great weekend.
DeleteSorry, I forgot to congratulate all of those mentioned as finalists
DeleteConnie

My husband and I went to Arlington National Cemetery during a recent trip to VA. We visited my parents' gravesite and the Tombs of the Unknows, which is always so moving. God bless our military heroes!
DeleteThat would be Tomb of the Unknowns. Forgive my misguided fingers.
DeleteHave a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! May we never forget those who have served or currently serving.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the winners!
Happy weekend to you too, Caryl Kane, faithful reader!
DeleteDebby Giusti! Congratulations on your second showing on the PW list! WAY TO GO!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tina. I'm humbled and grateful for my wonderful readers!
DeleteSo much good news!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you contest finalists -- wonderful to see so many familiar names. Looking forward to seeing those names on book covers in the future :-)
Cheers for Debby's book being on the Publishers Weekly Bestsellers List!
And while I'm cheering, what a great program Heidi's husband is involved in. Talk about a special way to commemorate the holiday!
Congrats to this week's winners, too. Looks like a lot of good reading.
Wishes for an enjoyable and SAFE Memorial Day Weekend.
Nancy C
Thank you, Nancy. Enjoy your weekend. Yes, safe travel to all!
DeleteOh, we're having a beach party?? Count me in. I'm SO ready for a break! :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for all those finalists! And that first article -- Christian Fiction Keeps its Allure -- is so heartening. Love Inspired got a lot of coverage in that article and the overall view from all the publishers is so encouraging. And super excited to see that Jan Drexler's Naomi's Hope got a mention in the Coming Up in Faith Fiction section. Woot!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Kav. Interesting article...and congrats to Jan Drexler for being included!
DeleteCongrats to all the contest winners! Good job braving it and putting your hard work out there. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all you contest winners and finalists! Way to go DIVAS!
ReplyDeleteThis was in my FB feed and is most timely:
ReplyDeleteWhat's the Difference?
Memorial Day is the day we memorialize, and celebrate, those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and died in military service for the United States.
Veterans Day is the day we celebrate and say thanks to those that previously served in the United States military.
Armed Forces Day is the day we celebrate and say thanks to those currently serving in the United States military.
But we can thank our service members no matter the day...
DeleteSo thank you, Tina Radcliffe, for your service. Cara Lynn James deserves our thanks too! We're proud of you!
I was wondering about this. In Canada we just have Remembrance Day so I wasn't sure what the difference was between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. And I've never heard of Armed Forces Day. Always learning something new in Seekerville.
DeleteReady for the beach party! We don't get much of that in Kansas. Have a good long weekend and remember those who gave all for our freedom.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Cindy. Not much of that here in Nebraska, either! :)
DeleteCindy! Congrats, you double finalist you!!!
DeleteCongrats to all the finalists in the contests.
ReplyDeleteDebby, Congrats on the best seller list.
Wishing all of you a great weekend on this memorial day weekend
Many thanks, Wilani! Hope you have a delightful Memorial Day weekend!
DeleteCongrats to all the finalists and winners of the contests. Excited for all of you.
ReplyDeleteI have a big weekend going on as today is my 60th birthday. I've had plenty of pampering and surprises from my family already. Going out to eat tonight with my husband and son.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
Happy birthday, Sandy! I brought cake and ice cream. First you have to make a wish and blow out the candles!
DeleteThanks, Debby! I'm sure the virtual cake and ice cream will be easier on the waistline than all the real cake and ice cream I had last night!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Sandy! Hope it's a wonderful one.
DeleteCongratulations to all the winners, finalists and our best seller list achievers!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading Susanne Dietze's book!
May God bless America, our veterans, the families of those who gave their lives for our country, and all of Seekerville!
Congrats to the winners. Love long weekends. Can't wait to read.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party today, but yaaaay! SO tickled to win a copy of Rocky Mountain Reunion! I can't wait to read it! (LOVE Tina's stories!) Thank you, Seekerville!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all contest finalists and winners! Wonderful news!
Congratulations to Debby on your Amish Refuge bestseller status! Awesome!
Thanks so much for another great week, fabulous links, and all the delicious Seekerville snacks. Looking forward to another terrific week ahead!!!
Cynthia! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for the kind words!
DeleteThanks for the congrats, Cynthia! Hope you're having a delightful weekend!
DeleteHappy WE everyone! Just stopping in to say congrats to our authors on the awards!! Way to go you guy!!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be a quiet Monday here with Memorial Day, perfect time to reflect on what our military heroes did for our country. And read too :-)
Toss my name on the warm sand of the unpubbed island for some surprise beach reads! Can't forget the tropical drink in hand (non-alcoholic of course), sunglasses, sun lotion, a hammock and a good book in hand :-)
I miss my hammock! That is on the top of my wish list, Trixi!
DeleteCongrats to all the contest winners and finalists! So excited for you all. Congrats to Debby too. Yay! I love your books and Love seeing others do too.
ReplyDeleteHoping to gat some cleaning done this weekend and enjoying Monday with my retired Navy hubby. Will be sure to thank him properly. :)
Thanks to all military folks associated with Seekerville and beyond. (But especially the Seekerville one's since y'all are so special to me and mine)
Have a relaxing Weekend, DebH!
DeleteHugs and heartfelt thanks to your hubby, DebH, for his service to our country!
DeleteMy advice, go light on the cleaning and enjoy a little R&R!
Thanks for your sweet words about my stories! Hugs!
Happy Memorial Weekend Seekers.
ReplyDeleteI spent an hour or two at the cemetery with my mom on Wednesday. Always a really lovely time of reminiscing about my dad and the other family that have gone before us.
Dad was a Veteran and my mom's active (at age 89) in the American Legion Auxiliary and sold poppies at our local grocery store on Friday.
No wait, it's VFW Auxiliary.
DeleteGod bless your parents, Mary!
DeleteI sneaked in some writing time this morning, now must get ready for church.... we're planting here (between rainstorms) and life is crazy busy, but I had to slip over here and say howdy again... I installed a new fireplace chimney yesterday and the floor for the new chicken coop, all of which will go into a book... and gets things done here in case the males of the species are too busy. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm practicing with power tools and I have to say, I'm learning so much! I'm getting there!
Tomorrow, after the parade in our little town, we go to the cemetery and plant flowers in the Blodgett family garden we created. Uncle Charlie was a decorated Korean war veteran, so we make sure the kids understand what's gone before.
ReplyDeleteIf we don't show them, how will they know?
So true about the children, Ruthy. God bless Uncle Charlie!
DeleteYou always pack so much into a weekend. Enjoy!
Caught the latest Pirates of the Caribbean this weekend. Is it just me or does everyone associate Captain Jack Sparrow with Seekerville?
ReplyDeleteCaptain Jack is a Villager of sorts. I thought he might stop by this weekend. Has anyone seen him?
DeleteHappy Memorial Day weekend to Seekers and Villagers. Now that my kids are out of school (yes, their last day was Thursday, and their first day back is August 1), I have to use the weekend to work hard on edits, but the good news is I will hopefully be writing a new first draft very soon. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. (And a shout out to my father who served in the Air Force and both of my grandfathers who served in WW2. I will be thinking of all three of them tomorrow).
ReplyDeleteHappy writing, Tanya!
DeleteHappy Memorial day Weekend, everyone! Tomorrow, my parents are taking me to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean, so yeah, I'm pretty excited. The Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is only one of my favorite movie series, ever. The only thing up there with it is the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
ReplyDeleteNicki, you'll have to report back and tell us how you liked it!
DeleteOh it was stupendous, and absurdly hilarious. I very much enjoyed it. And the soundtrack? I can't wait for my own to come- imagine writing to that music!
DeleteI missed the weekend! I was off the computer pretty much since Thursday. NICE staycation. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day everyone! I'm so thankful for the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom.
