    1. Thanks Tina! It is a great showpiece for the state of MS. June is the bridal issue, and the photos are stunning.

I had a couple of pieces featured in the "On Being Southern" section many, many years ago, before I decided to focus entirely on book length fiction.

One piece called, "Have Butterbeans, Will Travel", was a true story about going on vacation with my grandparents. Granny got up that morning and cooked butterbeans and put them in a quart jar, and we had fried chicken and butterbeans on the side of the highway for lunch that day.

Needless to say, my cousin and I almost DIED from embarrassment!

    2. It is gorgeous, Pam! So great to be included!

I can remember having my grandparents pack us ham sandwiches for traveling home from their house. I can remember always wishing we could stop at McDonald's instead! haha

    3. Ham sandwiches is one thing... but butterbeans congealing on the dash for all the world to see is quite another. :(

    4. I agree Tina. Super congrats and wishes for fun to all the conference goers. Yay RWA.

We've got some crazy weekends here on the farm this next few weeks, and then pumpkin season.... So my weekends aren't scripted by my schedule for a while!

But in the meantime, huckleberry muffins?

  6. Huckleberry muffins! That brings back a memory from long ago. I must have been around eleven when we went camping in the Blueridge mountains. There were huckleberries every where. We picked them during the day and slept in our tents at night. My dad slept under the stars on a cot. One morning we found him sleeping in the car. During the night he and a bear had scared each other. That was our last night at that camp site. We had some really delicious pies and muffins when we got home.

Congrats to all the winners and those who have been published recently.

  8. Good morning, Seekerville. Coming in and pinching myself to make sure the news I read in the middle of the night is real and wasn't a dream!

I checked my local B&N, but they didn't have Rachel's book in stock so I might have gently suggested to my husband that we go in town today to the B&N in lower Manhattan since they had it. But that would have added about $10 to the price in subway fares, so I decided to order online instead. But a tiny voice in my head said, wait until the weekend just on the off chance you win a copy. And I did! So thank you, Seekerville and thank you, Rachel. This will be my reward once deadlines are met.

Happy weekend, everyone. I'll be back to check out the links after the words are done.

  12. Good morning, Seekerville! Cray-cray week at my house. The kids are packing up for their big move overseas--THIS COMING WEDNESDAY!!!!--and trying to work in as many visits with nearby friends and family as they can.

The hole in my heart is already starting to form--inevitable--but I can't deny it will be nice to get the house back in order. Writing time will be a lot more peaceful, too.

But trading peace, quiet, and order for time spent with my family? Hardly fair. Wish they were just moving next door or around the block, but they have to go where God sends them.

    1. Ohhh, MYRA... I cannot imagine what you're going through. I know your kids leaving will, again, be an adjustment. Prayers over you and your family, and prayers, too, for renewed strength regarding lots of great writing time ahead!

    2. These greasy food stories make me smile. Our daughter worked making pizzas when she was a teen. She would toss the dough up in the air and catch it, the way they stretched the dough to fit the pan. Her clothes smelled too. Guess it bothered her as she asked to waitress. Hope they didn't agree because she dropped a lot of dough. LOL

  15. Hi y'all! Waving!!! I'm baacccckkk...at least in Seekerville and on my FB author page. I've missed you in my life, dear friends. Lots of good stuff has happened during the last six months...too much to tell.

I just flew back to Nashville late last night from teaching a newbie writers' morning track plus a couple of afternoon workshops at the Montrose (PA) Christian Writers Conference. There may be bigger conferences, but none more spiritually inspiring and God orchestrated. Plus...the best chef in the country. I think I gained 5 pounds!
