    1. Laura, wouldn't a beach getaway with a bag of books and no internet (at least not WORK related!) be wonderful?

Enjoy your weekend and hope you get that trip to the beach. :)

    2. I agree. Any week without the Internet is a true vacation. smile

    3. Yes! We wanted to go tomorrow but it is raining, so we have to postpone it. I guess it is a good reason to stay inside and read. :)

  2. Lovely WE, Tina! I'm looking forward to reading some links this weekend. :)

But they sent a video of the granddoll "shopping". She had two fistfuls of mesh bags of beach shovels/buckets pails, etc. Then she put those down in the middle of the store, went and found another big mesh bag of the same kind of stuff and plopped it down with the rest. So cute! I hope they didn't actually buy it all! lol

  10. Good morning, Seekerville! Congrats to all the winners and finalists and everyone learning and networking at RWA!

We are officially empty nesters again. Our daughter and family (except for their kitty, which is ours for the time being) left on Wednesday, and I am missing them something awful. Trying to keep busy, get some work done, and--today being Saturday, of course--start on some serious housecleaning. YUK!!!

So. Cat owners. We need recommendations on "litter box solutions." What kind of box to you like? What kind of litter? The easier (and less smelly) to deal with, the better.

    ReplyDelete

    1. We use a product called Simple Solution Litter box deodorizer, and Nature's Miracle High Sided Litter Box. Both available on Chewy.com. Probably Amazon too. But we use Chewy.com a lot for pet stuff.

    2. Awww Myra. At least the housecleaning will keep your mind off the fact that they have left. Its tough.

    3. Not really, Sandra, since 98% of the cleaning was necessitated by THEM!!!!!!

  23. “Freedom's just another word for 'nothing left to lose'.” Kris Kristofferson

Does this mean that the 'key' to "Writing Like You Have Nothing to Lose" (Monday's topic) means claiming your writing freedom? Can't wait to find out!

    And then Tuesday:

"8 Steps to Shrinking the Sagging Middle: Storyboarding 101" ...

And what is "Storyboarding" if not visual plotting?

    And then Wednesday:

    "Twitter Pitches and Blurbs"...

Headlines and blurbs are my advertising strong points but don't know much about Twitter. I'd also like to know more about having s Secret Service LIS theme. Talk about suspense! That's what the job is.

    And then Thursday:

"Building a Story Is Like Building a House."

Besides literally needing a plot, you also need building plans -- plans are so important you have to file them with the city. Wouldn't it be great if writers were required to file plots with the city so they would not build structurally unsound novels?

    And then Friday:

    "The Best from Past Posts"

These are the key posts you most want to comment upon because comments are "always better the second time around".

Again all these wonderful new Seeker books that I have on pre-order...I'll just have to wait.:)

  24. TINA:

Love the 'flip-flop' photo! They have wood beach chairs those same colors where we stay in Orange Beach. What a creative, out of the box, idea those flip-flops were. That inspired visual should help us come up with a new way to deal with a cliché writing situation. Now, how to apply it?

    ReplyDelete

Thank you SO much for your interest, and I do hope you have downloaded the FREE e-book prequel novella on this series. 30. **MYRA, just saw your kitty litter question!
I normally use whatever I have a coupon for, as long as it is the scoopable kind and scented. Also, since I have "a few" (6) cats, I like several types that are labeled "multi-cat" - - but with one kitty you wouldn't necessarily need that. Cats really are such wonderful pets, because once they see the litter box they'll always use it (unless there's a medical issue going on). Enjoy your grand-kitty!! :)
    Hugs, Patti Jo

    1. Thanks, Patti Jo! The odor issue really is important since so far the only place in our house that works for a litter pan is a corner of Project Guy's office behind a doggy gate with a kitty door. Otherwise, our doggies would constantly be "snacking."

      Delete
    2. Don't you love that about dogs? yuk. But that sounds like a good spot.

  31. Thanks for the links! Especially the one about beta readers. Janet Reid's blog post was helpful, too. I appreciated when she said one alternative for a pitch session is when you're in writer limbo -- chat with the agent, ask what the agent is looking for and what they read. I like that concept of asking the agent what they're looking for instead of telling the agent what you have.

I've been in my writing (hermit) cave, so thanks to Tina, for those links to the GH and RITA awards coverage.

Congratulations to (taking a deep breath) this week's winners, Debby for the win in the FHL Readers Choice Awards, Sharee, Jeanine, Laura, and Lisa. Majorly excited about Pam's "The Promise of Breeze Hill" ... what a lovely cover.
