Oh, my goodness! What a fun week is in store. Debby and Tanya, thank you for being willing to share your adventures. And we get to watch JULIE LIVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out if I am a successful author and Ruthy will drone on..well that's simply inconceivable.
I am off to try to be a professional romance writer and write 3K. If I fail I shall take up painting on the head of a pin again. SIGH.
Tina:
Delete"Traits alone won't make you successful -- at best traits will render you typically successful."
I look at it this way, Vince. The 10 traits on my list seem to be what most already successful writers embody. That isn't to say you'll automatically become successful if you cultivate those traits. But it can't hurt, right? 😉
DeleteHi Myra:
DeleteOh, you're absolutely right! I find the traits and habits of successful people to make for 'best-selling' reading! My comment was for Tina who was being funny when she mentioned that she was going to check the traits to see if she was successful. Well, that would be like checking the mirror to see if you have blue eyes in order to discover if you can sing like Frank Sinata. There's a logical fallacy in there somewhere! : )
BTW: I'd love to see the Grammar Queen appear also on Fridays because those are the posts I most need and most need to have repeated.
Vince
I would love to see more of our dear, Grammar Queen, as well, Vince!
DeleteMyra, are you listening? :)
LOL, Tina ... I'd rather watch YOU paint on the head of a pin LIVE!!
DeleteI'm with Vince & Debby, Mrya ... make GQ earn her keep with Friday BOA posts!! ;)
Hugs,
Julie
LOL--I'll check with the BOA boss and see if there's an opening for a GQ reprise.
DeleteI love the Grammar Queen.
DeleteCongratulations to all the winners this week!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see your pin head paintings Tina. I'm sure they would be a wonderful as your stories and books.
I would love to be entered to win the surprise box of books. I could really use them right now.
Be Blessed,
Cindy W.
Some days painting on a pin head sounds like a lot of fun! lol
DeleteTina, can you put The Lord's Prayer on the head of a pin??? ME, EITHER!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
I will drone, I'm so okay with owning my drone-ability, and in these days of REAL DRONES I might be on to something!
And our retreat starts NEXT WEEK on Sunday, and oh my stars, the grocery shopping I've yet to do!
RIBS! CHOPS! TURKEY! BURGERS AND DOGS! And don't forget old fashioned fried pies, a big plus at Ruthy retreats.
Must Love Fried Pies!!!!
Congrats to all winners... and huge kudos for this coming week! I'm gone off and on this week, so my apologies ahead of time, but day job and farm stuff is tugging me here and there the next couple of weeks... but then I think I get to stay home for awhile. I'm so excited about that!!!
ReplyDeleteI BROUGHT COFFEE!!!!
Ruthy, we'll forgive you if you'll share the produce from the farm!
DeleteHappy weekend, Seekerville! Tina, thanks for another great WE, and congrats to all of the winners!
ReplyDeleteDebby and Ruthy, I can't believe you're going to Cincinnati the year I move to SC. Have a great time next week! I hope you feel lots of love while there!
Box of books? I'm know we all want a box of books.
I'm ready for some coffee and ready to get this day started! Have a great one!
I'll drive right through Lexington to get there, Jackie! But you won't be there! :(
DeleteGood morning Tina and Ruthy!
ReplyDeleteNext week's line up sounds great. I can't wait for the virtual retreat! Thanks for bringing the coffee.
~ Renee
Good Morning! TINA, thank you for a wonderful WE!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to ALL the winners.
Enjoy your weekend!
Yay me. I'm winner of Lisa Phillip's book!
ReplyDeleteGreat WE. So much going on.
Fried pies sounds great Ruthy! Actually, any pie--fried or baked.
Good morning all and congrats to the winners! It's a rainy day here and I'm loving it! A box of books?! Oh please toss me into that drawing!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all of the winners!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the terrific WE, Tina...lots of great links to check out. Happy Weekend!
Happy Weekend, everyone. Looks like a great week coming up in Seekerville. Please put my name in the drawing for the box of books.
ReplyDeleteGood morning and congratulations to all of the winners. This coming week is certainly going to be busy in Seekerville and at my own home because it's Canning Time but I hope to check in during breaks. Yes, I would love a chance at a surprise box of books. Thank you and Blessings!
ReplyDeleteConnie
cps1950(at)gmail(dot)com
Connie, we have a plethora of pears, and I'd love to can (or freeze) some ... not because I like to work, but because they are so good and good for us, but I don't have a minute to spare right now. :(
DeleteConnie, what will you be canning?
DeleteLooking forward to this week in the village.
ReplyDeleteHoping to connect with Julie on Wednesday.
Signed up for virtual retreat. how does that work, anyway? Is it the same as this only with a smaller group of people? Do we have thought questions or writing prompts?
Computer froze this a.m. while I was researching Al Capone (don't ask). Had to reboot.
Ruth "drones" ? Can't wait till Thursday.
The weather is iffy and I'm broke anyway, so will probably get fair amount of writing done this weekend.
If computer cooperates.
Please enter me in drawing. LOVE box of books!
Kathy Bailey
Chugging along in NH
YAY, Kathy, hope to see you Wed. at 8:00 AM CDT!
DeleteSaying one for your computer ...
Hugs!!
Julie
Good morning, Seekerville! I'm still adjusting to my newly emptied nest. Way too quiet--and this, for the person who has always cherished my quiet life!
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that we've heard from the kids and they are getting settled into their new home overseas. They have lovely neighbors and a very nice landlord, the children are making friends, and things are coming together.
Now, if they'd just get their own internet hooked up so we can hear from them more often! Hopefully in the next few days.
In the meantime, it's Saturday, so that means chore day at my house. Oh joy--NOT!
So glad your family is settling into their new home, Myra. I'm sure that brings you peace. I'm praying for their wifi to be connected...ASAP!
DeleteMyra, thanks for sharing some details of your missionary kids life. I'm joining Debby in praying for a quick Wifi hookup!
DeleteHugs, Janet
Myra, SO glad the kids are getting settled!! That's actually a big part of YOU getting resettled with empty nest, so onward and upward, my friend!
DeleteHugs,
Julie
Thanks, ladies! Now, if I can just get my writing batteries recharged and become productive again!
DeleteMyra, I'm glad you're adjusting back to normal. I'm sure having their Internet set up for better communication will be a nice step toward getting back into your routine.
DeleteLooking forward to Virtual Retreat. I've been pretty disciplined about my fiction as of late, and am currently hopeful, confident and trusting God, so there isn't too much Ruthy can give me a kick in the pants over, but maybe I could take a couple, freeze-dry them and save them for later. Is that allowed?
ReplyDeleteOnly halfway kidding in NH,
KB
LOL, Kathy! If you figure out how to freeze-dry them, I'll take some too. :)
DeleteCongratulations to all the winners and authors!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Ruthy's virtual retreat!
Please enter me in the surprise box of books giveaway.
May God bless all of Seekerville!
Small Wonder
ReplyDeleteThis morning when I woke up I noticed that "His Steadfast Love" had appeared on my Kindle. Next the very first bible passage I read was:
“Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other.” Psalm 85:10
My first thought was: "How did Julie arrange this?"
Julie's tight with the Big Guy Upstairs. ;)
DeleteLOL, Vince ... that's a sign from the Big Guy that HSL is the very next book you need to read ... ;)
DeleteAnd, Pam, I'd say we're all "tight with the Big Guy Upstairs" considering all He has done for us, right? :)
Hugs!!
Julie
Wow, what timing, Vince!
DeleteNever seen Lord's Prayer on head of pin, but have places in NH tourist traps where you can get it engraved on a penny. Joke is, it costs 50 cents to do it.
ReplyDeleteKB
What a THRILL!!! I won Natalie's For Richer For Poorer, in the Of Rags and Riches Romance Collection! A am majorly excited (can you tell?) :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to this week's other winners.
Now to go back and continue reading the WE.
Nancy C
P.S. Thanks Natalie!
DeleteNancy C
Working with Tanya is so much fun!!! She's amazing and so sweet!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners! Woot!
Marking my calendar for Julie's live Q&A!
Ruthy, I'll see you Friday afternoon in Cincinnati! I'm so excited about the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat. Last year's event was wonderful! This year's will be even more special. Praying for all those traveling to CFRR!
Debby, I am SO jealous of you and Ruthy that you are attending CFRR -- I know you will have a blast! I'm hoping for next year ...
DeleteAnd I will need all the moral support I can get on Wed. morning -- AND PRAYERS -- so I'm counting on you!!
Hugs,
Julie
Praying for you, Julie!
DeleteY'all have a wonderful time!!
DeleteDid you see that list of all the new Hallmark movies? When is a writer supposed to have time to write? Hooray for PBS with that upcoming series. It'll be interesting to see what the 'favorites' are.
ReplyDeleteI especially appreciate Steve Laube's post about overselling a book -- there's so much hype in just about everything today, it's a refreshing reminder to keep it simple (or appearing simple). Have you noticed how difficult simple can be some times? :-D
Thanks for the links, everyone. And thanks, Tina, for another information-packed WE.
Happy Weekend everyone!
Nancy C
I'm still catching up with LAST YEAR'S HALLMARK movies.
DeleteCongrats to our winners! Looks like a terrific lineup next week. I missed going to RWA so it'll be fun to experience the conference through Debby and Tanya's eyes.
ReplyDeleteDebby and Ruthy, know you'll have a blast at the CFRR in Cincinnati! I really enjoyed the jam-packed day last year and was so impressed by how organized it was.
Janet
I was impressed with last year's CFRR, as well, Janet! Will miss you next SAT.
DeleteDebby, are you on a panel this year?
DeleteJanet
No panel, but I'm thrilled to be doing the Opening Prayer.
DeleteTina, pin head painting is strong motivation not to fail at getting the word count in! Pulling for the 3k!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Please enter me in the box of surprise books.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners this week.
Trying to adjust to a new diet where I have to eat 6 meals a day. I feel like all I am accomplishing is cooking and eating and reading labels. I spent 2 hours in the grocery store just reading labels and making decisions. Isn't life an adventure.
Have a great weekend everyone!
BOY, it's a hot one today ... and yesterday ... and tomorrow ... and weeding and working in a garden sure doesn't help, but gotta make hay while the sun shines.
ReplyDeleteSUPER CONGRATS to all the winners, and WOW, what a great bunch of links to explore!
Debby & Ruthy -- have fun at CFRR and dole out lots of hugs for the Seekers, okay?
And, Nancy, yes, I did see the list of Hallmark movies, and CAN-NOT-WAIT!!! Although I will say that Madame Secretary has been cutting into my Hallmark time BIG TIME!!
HAPPY WEEKEND, ALL!
Hugs,
Julie
Happy weekend! Looks like lots of fun stuff going on! I'm loving the summer reading programs and feel like I'm getting a lot read and reviewed when I look back at my list :)
ReplyDeletePlease put my name in the hat for the surprise box! Those are always so fun :)
Key Philosophical Question
ReplyDeleteOf the Middle Ages
"How many angels can fit on the head of a pin."
This was very serious stuff. I once wrote a short story ("Philosophy Tales") in which philosophers, who were under threat of death for discussing theological issues that could be considered heretical, would argue about safe things like, "how many angels could fit on the head of a pin", because these problems used the very same arguments that arguing about the forbidden topics would have used. In this way philosophers could carry on with their business as usual even with Church spies listening in.
When the spies reported back to the bishops, they would all laugh about how silly and useless these philosophers actually were. However, they were actually discussing 'dualism,' the nature of 'spiritual matter', and if the universe was infinite and what that would mean.)
BTW: As far as I know they never came to a conclusion. But the joke about 'angels on the head of a pin' was actually on the people making the joke and not the philosophers!
Thank you for pulling my name out of the hat for "Rags To Riches" e-book! I'm so excited! And congratulations to all the other winners. I love reading the WE with my second or third cup of coffee on Saturday and browsing through Tina's excellent links. I look forward to it every weekend. Please toss my name in for the surprise box as well, because who ever has enough books to read? :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WE everyone and congrats to the winners! Another fantastic week to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteToss my name in the pot for a surprise box o' books, thanks!
I would love to be enetered for the surprise box of books. And thank you for all the great upcoming blogs and events!

ReplyDeleteAugust is here and lots of great books coming out! YAY and to be entered for box of books sounds delightful, too!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS!
Yay! I can't believe I won the beach read surprise package!!!! No beach time for me this summer, but a lounge chair under the A/C comes in 2nd. Thanks to all my Seekerville buddies!
ReplyDeleteSince it's Sunday afternoon, it's the perfect time to read all the linked articles. Thanks, Tina, for another great WE.
Congrats to all the winners this week.
And Julie? You are one brave woman!
Great WE as always, Miss T! CONGRATS to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful week coming up - - especially excited to see Debby and Tanya's post about RWA! :)
SO glad that Debby and Ruthy will be at CFRR this year - - Lord willing I'll attend next year. Last year was wonderful - - a full day with SO much fun!
Hugs to all my Seekerville friends, Patti Jo :)
P.S. MYRA, since your house is so quiet now, maybe you need to borrow my 2 youngest kitties, Sully and Isaiah. ;) They are like toddlers sometimes - - into everything and chasing each other up and down the stairs in our house, LOL.
ReplyDeletePraying your daughter and family get all settled in their overseas home!
Hugs, PJ
Congrats, winners!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these links! I think my December is going to be pretty booked with all those Hallmark movies! Love it!
Will need to keep checking back because this week's posts sound wonderful. Summer is super busy for me but I do try to keep up with the blog.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win a surprise box of books :)
