Vrrrooommm!!! From Zero to Pubbed in 60 Days!

With ebook sales racing ahead of print sales, established publishers, authors and readers alike are taking a second look at electronic publishing. Tyndale House Publishers answer is the Digital First Program.

This past spring, Tyndale decided to offer a new model of publishing called “Digital First”, which is just what it implies, digital first with print books to hopefully follow. My agent, Steve Laube, submitted a proposal for Stealing Jake, one of my manuscripts that was complete and ready to go, and Jan Stob, senior acquisitions editor at Tyndale requested the manuscript about 3 weeks later. Then they offered a contract about 3 weeks after that. Talk about making laps! Jeff Gordon ain’t got nothing on me!

Generally, it takes 12-18 months for a print book to hit the shelves, but Tyndale put these ebooks on a fast track to publication and had them available in about six weeks, launching the program on July 1, 2011 with four fiction titles and one non-fiction title.

Here’s the fast track timeline:

March – We submitted the proposal. I didn’t know all the details or that the book would be released in 2011, but I knew enough to know that this was different, but also exciting, fresh and new, and tied to one of the most established and well-respected Christian publishing houses in the industry.

Late-March – Tyndale asked for the complete, and we submitted it. At this point, I started reading through Stealing Jake again. It had been several months since I read it, so I wanted the story fresh in my head. The goal in reading this time wasn’t to change anything, but to get the story fresh in my head and to highlight and comment on errors so I would be ready to hit the ground running if they contracted it.

Mid-April – I got the CALL! I’d like to say I screamed, and danced around, and called all my friends, but I didn’t. First of all, I needed to wait for the contract to be signed, and at that point, I went into business mode.

May – I signed the contract, and started a wish list of “Things to do” regarding promotion and marketing. I just glanced at that list. Some of it is still undone, but I’ve hit the high points.

Mid-May – I had a gag order (okay, it wasn’t really a gag order) on announcing my sale to the world. Tyndale wanted to get all their ducks in a row and make a big splash with a press release announcing the Initiative. Which I thought was absolutely brilliant! Nary a peep from any of the authors or their agents surfaced on the internet until the press release hit the news on May 18th. And I do mean hit the news. Here’s the Press Release at CBA News.

(Have you noticed I haven’t mentioned revisions yet, and the book releases July 1st????)

June – Now the hard work begins. You thought writing the book was hard? It is, but I’ve been doing that for a long time, and even though it’s hard, I know what to do, and about how long it’s going to take me to do it. Biography, photo, acknowledgements, all had to be submitted to Tyndale. I got it done. Somehow.

Mid-June – I got my cover! What an exciting day. And a few days after that, the revisions came. I had heard horror stories for years about edits that take days, or weeks, with massive rewrites, so I cleared my calendar for several days in anticipation of the edits, but thank goodness they were all very easy fixes. Tyndale’s editors are amazingly talented! I’m probably spoiled for life…

July 1st – Release date! The book actually appeared on Amazon a few days early, then showed up on B&N and CBD soon after. It was so amazing to start seeing reviews pop up on Amazon and B&N, and on Goodreads.

July-August – Rev your engines! It’s time to promote! And that’s what I’ve been doing the last 7 weeks, and it’s a blog unto itself. But since this has gotten so long, I’ll save it for another day. I’ve been on about 40 blogs and organized a Kindle Giveaway with 7 Seeker books preloaded (with more to come).

Bottom line, you can go from unpublished to published in a blink of an eye, so be prepared in every way that you can. I’ve been pursuing publication for seventeen years, but some things still caught me off guard.

It’s been a fast and furious, fun ride, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Stealing Jake

When Livy O'Brien spies a young boy jostling a man walking along the boardwalk, she recognizes the act for what it is. After all, she used to be known as Light-fingered Livy. But that was before she put her past behind her and moved to the growing town of Chestnut, Illinois, where she's helping to run an orphanage. Now she'll do almost anything to protect the street kids like herself.

Sheriff's deputy Jake Russell had no idea what he was in for when he ran into Livy--literally--while chasing down a pickpocket. With a rash of robberies and a growing number of street kids in town--as well as a loan on the family farm that needs to be paid off--Jake doesn't have time to pursue a girl. Still, he can't seem to get Livy out of his mind. He wants to get to know her better . . . but Livy isn't willing to trust any man, especially not a lawman.

Interwoven throughout is a group of street kids arrested in Chicago and sold as child labor. Leading this band of ragamuffins is young Luke, a scared, determined orphan intent on rescuing his little brother at any cost.

  1. Ooo! Can I be first? I bring blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, and blueberry-lime jam for toast. :) You can tell it's blue season in Oregon.
Great post! I LOVE hearing how authors get to the publication stage- and beyond!

  2. Wow! I can't imagine going from submission to release in four months flat. How very exciting for you, Pam!

  3. I remember the big party on the island when you announced here on Seekerville, Pam. SO GREAT!!!
Stealing Jake was wonderful and I'm reading Cash Burn right now, also on my nook. Tyndale has done an amazing job. I'd love any books, e-books or regular books, so please enter me for the prize package.

And so Ruthie doesn't bust my chops again for forgetting food... here's some Krispy Kreme hot & fresh donuts. =)

  4. Virginia, I sense a THEME!!!! ;)

    Yum. Thank you.

    PAMMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY...........

So stinkin' proud of you, and talk about a whirlwind courtship. You know what I noticed? That your propensity (one big word, please???) for business first has provided the momentum for your current success. I do not know another person like you who is that focused and so delightfully down-to-earth focused. What a great combination of amazing-ness.

I love this story. Love the quick time-line, which should be a lesson to ALL OF US... Sometimes when it happens, it happens quick. BE READY. BE READY with more than one piece of work. Work ahead of the curve....

I am so serious, you truly have ONE CHANCE to make a good first impression.

    Don't mess with that.

Pam, love you!!!! And I love, love, love Stealing Jake!

  5. Nancy, food....

YES!!! And Krispy Kreme... (little hiccup sob here) They went out of business here so it's nothing more than a memory unless I'm traveling.

Thank you, my beneficent friend. :)

  6. Wooohoo! How fun and exciting!! Love your title and the breakdown of your journey. I can't wait to see your book go into print too. :) Congrats Pam!

  7. Wow, this could really change the face of publishing, couldn't it? though I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of change. I love my books! Plus I don't have an e-reader of any kind.

I know you can download onto a computer but my laptop is old and a little slow and I'm scared I'll mess it up if I try to download a book onto it. I may just have to get brave and try it one of these days or I'm going to miss out on a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Wow! Sounds like you've had to schedule in time to breathe. What a whirlwind, but how wonderful to see your book hit the stores in just a few months instead of a year.

    I loved STEALING JAKE.

What a time line! I also think it's special that your first sale launched a new digital program at your publishers...cutting edge!

  10. I have to agree with Ruth, the combination of creativity and business savvy is awesome! Thank you for sharing, Pam.

And it does seem like things go from 0-120 when someone sells. You wait, and wait, and wait, and then BOOM. Better have all your ducks in a row, lined up and waiting like Pam!

  11. Pam, thanks for walking (running?) us through. Love it! Yes please on prize package. Congratulations. I've heard this quote for years - God promotes prepared people!!

Do you know the print criteria? It'll be interesting to see how they determine the future of publishing. I've not researched this at all. Are they the first to do this?

Ruthy, that was 2 big words!

Morning all! So I think my head is spinning just from reading how fast you got published I can't imagine how fast you were spinning. I would love to win your prize pack! I have also put Stealing Jack on my list of books to get!

I brought some teas to go with all the goodies everyone has mentioned!

  15. Pam, I still tingle all over for you and this sale! Smart folks, those Tyndale House editors - they knew that had a winner when Stealing Jake appeared on their desk - or maybe computer monitors : )

This entire program is so unique and timely. I love the way Tyndale recognizes there are so many talented writers but so little print publishing space. I think you're on the cutting edge of publication explosion, Pam!

So proud of you! And you've done a magnificent job promoting and marketing not only Stealing Jake, but Tyndale House as well.

So glad I got a Kindle for Christmas, LOL!!

  16. Oh Yes, I would like to be entered in the Prize Package. I love to read. That is fast in how they publish an ebook then to printing.

    CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!

  19. Oh, PAMMY, my head is spinning!!! You sound like you are the PERFECT candidate for this type of madness because they would have to put me on an IV with my wired and anal CDQ personality!!!

But, oh, HOW FUN AND EXCITING!!! Kind of like the whirlwind of skitters and jitters and joy when a man proposes and the bride-to-be has to pull the wedding together in just a few months!! And here's hoping the honeymoon goes on for a LONG time to come, Pammy!!

I LOVED Stealing Jake, and am running a contest on my Journal Jots (on my website) where readers can be entered to win their choice of a top CBA book if they sign up for your Kindle giveaway/newsletter AND an automatic free top CBA book if they actually download Stealing Jake. So anybody who's interested, hop on over to Julie's Journal Jots. And good luck!

    Hugs,

  20. What a wild ride, Pam! You didn't have to go through the waiting that most authors go through, wondering if it was all a joke and wishing the revisions would hurry up and start, wishing the months away until publication! But I know it must have been stressful, too, to go through the process so quickly, with little time to edit and promote beforehand. But it looks like you did a great job! So happy for you. :-)

  21. Virginia, those pancakes smell wonderful!

I've been no carb for MONTHS.

    Gimme!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Keli, it's been a whirlwind, but I thrive under pressure. If I have tons of time, I tend to wast it.

I do need to do better it that area.

(Pam pokes another forkful of Virginia's pancakes in her mouth. Mmmmmmm....)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nancy! More carbs???

    And Krispy Kreme donuts?

    YES!!

Just put it there with the pancakes. No, give me two!

And so glad you enjoyed Stealing Jake. Tyndale is awesome to work with. So professional. I'm definitely in good hands with them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Propensity, huh?

Well, AFTER I looked the word up, I realized it's what we call a "one-track-mind" down here in Mississippi. I sorta have a problem with focus too. Once I zero in on something (esp. balancing numbers) I can't stop until it's done.

But right now, my focus is still on those pancakes and donuts.

    Talk about focus!

Obviously, I do NOT have ADHD!

  25. "Bottom line, you can go from unpublished to published in a blink of an eye, so be prepared in every way that you can." Great words of advice (for writing AND other professions). Oh yeah! Great post - with a prize package too? Bonus!

  26. Jessica, I tried to upload some racecars, but blogger was being difficult last night. I still plan to get them up!

Kav, I know what you mean. We were on dialup for the longest, and now I use a mifi device for internet because we still don't have DSL in our area. Costs me an arm and a leg, but I have to have it for business. No choice! And, that app for your laptop? I don't think it is very big. I downloaded it to mine and it didn't take long at all. Good luck with it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kirsten, it was mind-boggling. The first time Jan gave us a tentative date, she said July 2012.

I thought, okay, that's about right. No surprise there. Then later that day, she sent an email out letting us know that was supposed to be JULY 2011!

I just about fell out of my chair!

But... "We killed the bear. Pa shot him."

IOW, Tyndale got 'er done. I just get to brag about it! lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rose, cutting edge is right. We live in an amazing time.

Sherri, your comment reminded me of a writer's meeting once. We were critiquing. I think we'd taken one of those left-brain, right brain tests, and I came out on the opposite side of creative, left brain.

Later in the day, Mallory Kane (brilliant woman and HQ Intrigue author) asked me some questions about my story and I started explaining things. I must have gotten carried away, because she and another woman looked at each other and said in unison, "Definitely right-brained."

It was so funny. So, I guess I can be either/or as the need arises.

Which will be in the next few minutes as I have to go to the day job and crunch numbers!

    ReplyDelete
  29. What a whirlwind, Pammy! My head is spinning just reading about it!!

And I'm still so thrilled for you. :)

We'll look forward to the next post installment about the promo. :)

  30. KC, just about everything I do is at warp speed. Per my contract, I can't share any details of our agreement, but it stands to reason that if I sell a gazillion ebooks, Tyndale just might want to publish a print version. Right? Right! lol

And Tyndale is the first traditional publisher to use their professional editors, art department, and marketing on this type of venture. At least that I know of. I think everyone is watching this model to see how it pans out.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thank you Laura. I think my head is on a perpetual spin. I think you'll enjoy Jake. I've heard it's pretty good! ha ha

Essay, thank you for your sweet words. Sometimes I just blab on an on (or at least my kids say that I do), so am glad all that mades sense!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Pepper and Audra!

You know, there are thousands of forums debating whether one should self-publish print books, or self-publish ebooks, or pursue a traditional publisher, all valid arguments and good fodder for discussion.

But, as I explained in my First Sale party here in Seekerville, having Tyndale's expertise and backing for my debut novel is HUGE. It's something I can't even begin to measure.

A debut author (whether print or ebook) needs to build two things: Name recognition and sales numbers.

And I think (shucks, I KNOW) I can do both better and faster with Tyndale at the helm.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay, folks, that Left Brain job is calling. I wanted to respond to every comment before I left, but have run out of time.

I'll be back in a couple of hours to chat with y'all again.

    Keep up the great discussion!

  34. What a whirlwind, Pam. It just happened so fast.
    YAY!!!

And I LOVE Stealing Jake. Ready the blurb of it brought back the story, it's so vivid.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congratulations Pam! Stealing Jake is an excellent book. I love that time period and your story is so well done!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love you, Sherri.

FIRST... You agreed with me. :)

Second, yeah, we're such funny humans... God even tells us to be ready...

And we don't believe it. But that's a huge component to driving success in a mostly forward motion.

    Be ready.

  37. What an inspirational story of getting published. 17 years to get published. Do you ever sit back and wonder if it's really real?

Stealing Jake sounds like a wonderful book.

  38. Hi Pam:

I’m so happy to read about your overnight success! :) It gives me hope.

I just loved “Stealing Jake” but I have a complaint. Why did you name two characters “Livy” and “Lavinia”? I thought ‘Livy’ was a diminutive of ‘Lavinia’. I not only got the characters mixed up, but for awhile there, I thought they were the same person! Please have mercy on the old. : )

  39. Food Ruling Request

Since food is a hot topic here I have an ethical cooking question to ask.

Sunday I was making Paula Dean’s Swiss steak. It’s in a Dutch Oven where all it needs to do is simmer for 1 ½ hours. I go out and cut the grass.

When I come back my wife has added a quart of water and turned it into a stew! My beautiful Swiss steak turned into stew meat. Isn’t it unethical to do this to another cook? I’d like to know what women think.

  40. Just finished reading your book last night, Pam--a wonderfully touching story. No wonder it's an award winner!!!

  41. Wow! What an exciting adventure you've had, Pam! Thanks for sharing this with us (my head is spinning after reading your whirlwind publishing experience AND my coping with a broken air conditioner, LOL). ~ Since it's almost lunch time here in GA, I've picked up some Subway sandwiches to share--all kinds, so take your pick! ~ Blessings, Patti Jo :)

  42. I'm still thrilled for you, Pam!!! Stealing Jake is wonderful. Are you ready to sell some more books? Do you have new manuscripts under your bed or stashed away in a drawer? I only had one that really worked (Love on Assignment), but I wish I'd had a dozen.

  43. I haven't had time to read the comments yet today, but I wanted to get my congratulations in -

    YAYYYYYY!!!!! PAM!!!!!! GO GIRL!!!!!!

  45. Pam, your journey blows me away! I knew it was fast, (I got a taste of whiplash it was so fast. ;-) but hadn't realized you really had hardly ANY time on those revisions. So glad I could help you promote too! I downloaded almost all the Tyndale new releases when they were free recently and plan to read them on the way to ACFW!

You've got a great prize package too for promotion. ;-)

    Thanks for sharing Pam!

  49. Oh yeah, I meant to mention Julie's contest within a contest, within a contest at Journal Jots.

You've just got to go read her review of Stealing Jake, THEN read her excerpt from book 1 from The Cousins McClare!

And if you're thinking outside the box about promotion and a different way to get people involved, study Julie's giveaway idea.

    It's a win-win offer for everybody!

    Thanks Julie!

  50. Melanie, I think I did go through all the stages! I just did it in 60 days, instead of 360! lol

Laney, isn't it amazing? Most of us write, submit, get rejected for years, then all of a sudden we get a call or an email with the GREEN light.

That can be overwhelming ... unless you're a regular in Seekerville. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. LOL, Vince!! That's a tough one. Usually, I'd say the wife is always right. ;)

But I do love Swiss steak. I'd hate to see it turned into stew. And I do think messing with a Paula Deen recipe might be against the law or something.

Wow, what an ethical dilemma! :)

  54. Connie, I don't wonder so much if this stage of it's real, but I wonder if I'm going to be a flash in the pan, and then nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pam your excitement for Stealing Jake is still going strong and that's wonderful! :)

  56. Vince, I hadn't even thought about Livy and Lavinia being so similar! And none of my other readers even mentioned it. Ack! I shoulda had you proof for me.

BUT, Livy IS short for something. It's the female version of a famous main character in a classic novel.

The first person to guess Livy's given name correctly (and the full name of the character in the classic or the title :) gets their name thrown into the hat ***10*** times for today's prize package.

In addition, the classic I'm talking about is free for Kindle on Amazon right now.

  57. From my standpoint, I'm not fond of my cowboy adding anything to the food I'm cooking, unless I tell him to, so I agree with you.

He likes to add LOTS of pepper, and worchestershire sauce, and I prefer the flavor the the meat and gravy over pepper and wc sauce.

But if I have something in the crockpot, and he's getting home before me, I might tell him to check it, and add some water or something if it's getting dry.

What would I do if he's cooking? Pretty much stay out of the way!

  58. Myra, love you friend!

  59. Wow! I know you must be so excited. My head would be spinning. I've got a copy of Stealing Jake on my Kindle for PC and I can't wait to read it!

I'm from Mississippi too, and am related to some Hillmans om my mother's side. I looked you up on facebook and saw you're friends with a great aunt of mine and her daughter, so I just had to send off an email asking her if we might be related. That would be wild, wouldn't it? Small world!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Cara, I have some other manuscripts that with a little (some need more than a little!) work could have a shot at publication. They're 1st in series.

I'm working on a sequel for Stealing Jake with a very minor character who was only mentioned a couple of times: Johanna Thorndyke who lost her husband in the mining accident, and the mysterious man who bought out the other shares of the mine and is now Jake's partner. Sparks are gonna fly for sure! lol

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jan, I think I single-handedly ate all the Krispy Kremes. So sorry!

    Janet, you're in, girl!

Casey, honestly, those revisions were amazingly easy-peasy! Tyndale chose manuscripts that were ready to go, and I'm still amazed and honored that they felt mine fit the bill. Then the editor that was assigned to my book did such a wonderful job that there wasn't a whole lot for me to do. Now, you understand why I say I'm spoiled!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Pam, I am still SO stoked for you. I absolutely LOVED Jake the first time I read one of his chapters. I am SO glad he was the character of your break-out book.

Four months. WOW! That makes my head spin.

Virginia, love blueberries! YUM. They'll go along great with Nancy's Krispy Kremes and Helen's coffee.

Kav, definitely! The face of publishing has changed more the past year than in the last 30 years combined.

It's a very exciting time to be entering the market. I don't think anyone quite knows how publishing will redefine itself when all the digital dust settles.

But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that, thanks to the digitization of books, our stories will be perpetually available.

    Hugs all!

Gotta get back to work on a proposal.

    Cheryl

    ReplyDelete
  63. Vince, LOL! That does seem like it should be a kitchen misdemeanor. But hey, you may be able to use that scene in a book sometime! What fun to put that Swiss steak memory in literary infamy!

Catmom, you just come on over to my house. I've got the air cranked on and we'll sit in the sun room and watch the squirrels torment my puppies over tea.

Well, WE will drink the tea. The puppies will bark at the squirrels through impenatrable glass. LOL!

  64. Congrats, Pam! I'm so excited. Love STEALING JAKE, which was the first book I downloaded on my new Kindle! Whoo-hoo! Good for you.

Being prepared is key and you were! YAY!

  65. Me too, Lorna. But however it happens, here are a couple of quick tips:

Have a stable of manuscripts ready.

  66. Jackie, you are my new BFF!!! Thank you for telling your friend about Stealing Jake.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Eva Marie, it is mega exciting!

Stealing Jake stayed on the #1 Bestseller list for free Kindle books for almost 7 days of the 2 weeks it was free.

Then, it stayed in the top 500 for paid for a while, then in the 1000s, 2000s, and is jumping around between 3500-5500 now. Right this second, it's 5800 out of 750,000 ebooks.

I have no clue what that means as far as sales. Absolutely no clue. I'm just glad it's not #750,000.

Uh...somebody needs to do a post on "Obnoxious Promotion on the Internet"

But please don't list me as the poster child.

    Leave me SOME dignity, okay?

  68. Hi Pam:

I think Livy can be short of Elizabeth and that makes me think of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice. But I think she was called Lizzy not Livy but then all these names tend to make me dizzy.

  69. Wow, Natalie, that is too cool! Send me a private message on fb when you find out if we're "related!"

And I'm thrilled that you have Jake on your Kindle.

He's a Kindle kind of kowboy!

  70. Cheryl said,"watch the squirrels torment my puppies over tea."

Why did a vision of squirrels harrassing puppies sitting at tea enter my mind?

    You writing fantasy now, C?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes, Vince, you're making me dizzy too! lol

Did I not give enough clues? I didn't want to give it away right off the bat. I thought this would be a no-brainer!

    Let's see...one more clue.

The character in the classic is male.

  72. Okay, it has to be Oliver Twist, doesn't it? It fits so well - I even thought of the connection when I was reading the book!

And am I entered in the drawing for the "prize package"?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yes! Jan is correct.

Of course, poor Oliver would turn over in his grave at the fact that Livy is from Irish descent!

But what he doesn't know won't hurt him.

  74. That speedy publication sounds like a whirlwind, Pam! But I'm glad it worked out because I thoroughly enjoyed Stealing Jake! I recommended it to as many folks as I could. I would love to have my name put in for the prize package. Now for more Krispy Kremes...when I saw those words my mouth started watering. I think I could also go for some almond pillow cookies from Fresh Market. Mmmmm! : ) Blessings~Stacey

I got my speeding racecar uploaded to the blog post.

    So there, blogger!

  79. Stacey, thank you for recommending Stealing Jake to others. Word of mouth is priceless!

And those almond pillow cookies sounds YUMMY!

  80. Tina, if you don't want a novel idea to spread, don't put it on the net, that's for sure.

But if you DO want it to spread, that's probably the fastest way to get the word out in our world today.

    Cheryl, you crack me up!

  81. Wow Pam, What a ride it has been. And well deserved. You have worked hard for this and I am so thrilled with all you have accomplished.

Congratulations. Have fun. And can hardly wait till that next blog explaining all that you did. I know some of it but it is exhausting to even think of it. smile.

You're doing great. Have fun and again congrats.

Vince, you have a dilemma. But she's your wife. Have mercy.

Debby the peach cobbler is yummy.

    Cheryl, you're too funny.

  85. Wow! Talk about a whirlwind romance! LoL. Soo cool to hear, Pam! Stealing Jake sounds fantastic. =]

  86. LOL ... PATTY WYSONG nailed it -- "a whirlwind romance," indeed!!

And, PAMMY, I only pull the stops out for books AND authors I absolutely LOVE, so it was double motivation for me with you, sweetie!!

VINCE SAID: "Isn’t it unethical to do this to another cook?" I would say, YES, most definitely ... and also not very smart if Mrs. Vince wants you to keep cooking ... :) Oh, and Vince, I forgot to tell you -- you are in book 3 of the Winds of Change series, in Steven's story, A Trust Restored. That's all I'm saying ... :)

    Hugs,
    Julie

  87. Carrie & Pattie, so glad you dropped by!

Vince has been immortalized! Whoo-hoo! Vince, this could be fun. Exactly what kind of gentlemanly quirks did Julie give you??? lol

  88. Oliver Twist! If nobody said it yet... She seems like a little Oliver the pick pocket to me. :)

  89. Hi Julie:

Wow! This is the fan equivalent of getting the ‘call’! It will be the longest wait. I’m doing a happy dance! : )

  90. Thanks to All:

I want to thank all those of gave me support on the Swiss steak affair. Since it is the next day, and almost no one will read this, I’d like to show the severity of this situation.

Just look at this very short Paula Dean cooking demonstration:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgIbao_Kllw

Now consider that everything I did went exactly like the demonstration up to the point where the pot was to simmer on low for one and a half hours. Look at what the finished meal looks like. Just wonderful.

Now consider coming back after one and a half hours cutting grass in 100 degree heat and seeing all those wonderful ingredients floating around in a full pot of water!

I call tell you if I use this in a romance, it will be the ‘black moment’! :)

    Thanks again.

    Vince

  91. What a great day here in Seekerville! Virginia, Jan was on her toes and figured out that Livy is short of Olivia aka Oliver Twist.

I couldn't really think of a last name that was a "take-off" of Twist, and I kinda wanted her to be from Irish descent, I didn't try too hard! I figured Olivia / Livy was close enough. lol

    ReplyDelete
  92. Vince, the Swiss Steak affair sounds very intriquing.

    Very James Bond-ish!
