  1. Ooooooooh!!!! LOVE the pictures!! Can I pretend that I'm in them, too?

Maybe that sounded a bit too desperate...

    Hopefully someday!! :D

Anyway, you ladies seem to be having a blast! And I just love that huge grin on Casey's face in those pics - can't say as I blame her! Lucky me that I get to see her in person soon and hopefully hear all about the conference!

Oh, and thank you so much for the win! Can't wait to read Oklahoma Reunion! :D

  2. Is that Carol M's famous tub of cookies in one of those pictures?

You all look like you're having a fabulous time!

Congrats to all the winners -

  3. Hi, I've surrendered for tonight. There was a live BAND in the area the seekers were trying to gather.

    NOISY!!!!!
    I couldn't TALK!!!!

what is the point if I can't TALK!!!???

  4. I hear ya, Mare. Well I could but the band is too loud.

    We miss you!!!

sigh. I was doing sooooo well with being home until seeing the pictures. LoL. Okay. whine over.

And loved seeing Patti Jo in there too! I was called Patty Jo until I 12, and my dad still calls me Patty Jo, so it always gives me a start to see Patti Jo. LOL. =]

Congrats to the book winners! =]

  7. More pics coming later today. Spent most of the time in the hotel today and really, how many room, lobby, bathroom, hallway pics can one take?

I'm going to sneak off to the Arch today. Have to take time to soak up the local atmosphere!

Yes, Jan. That is Carol's WORLD famous tub o' cookies. Mmmmm. Nothing like homecooking, LOL!

Isn't Casey a cutie? She's the energizer bunny, too -- that smile never leaves her face.

    Seekerville has the best friends!!!!

  8. That was so fun! And I'm thrilled that I got to be critiqued by a Seeker. It was the first time anybody had ever read anything I'd written. :O And it was bad. Very, very bad. But there wasn't a better place for me to start than with a lovely Seeker. I survived!

  9. Oh man, Virginia... You are a sweet and gracious soul, girlfriend! ;)

TEEEEEEENA!!!! Great pics, awesome job girlfriend, and lovin' the enthusiasm here and there! You guys rock.

Casey... I cannot begin to describe Casey in full depth, but mayhap Pepper will stop in with her pics of Casey DANCING ON A CHAIR...

Hysterical! Had a great morning session with Allen Arnold, Julie Gwynn and Jim Rupert yesterday about the 'villains' of writing... Time stealers, doubts, energy-grabbers. Really well done about keeping your guard up to watch time carefully lest it escape.

We've talked about that a time or two here, haven't we? Oy.

The band last night was loud on the FIRST FLOOR (where we were) so they could be heard on the FOURTH FLOOR...

Do not for one moment believe you read that wrong.

    Oy again!

    :)

Lovin' the cookies from Carol and had supper with Helen last night. She's just stinkin' adorable.

Hey, coffee's ready to go, and I'm throwing in a full Starbuck's set-up to keep the day rocking. Pumpkin Spice Latte....

    I'm so happy.

  10. I just called Ruthy to make sure she was awake. Yep, she is.

AND she's been here already. Can you believe it?

Cheer for Mary and Ruthy and the Seekerville friends who are nominated for awards -- no way am I going to try to name all our finalists because I am sleep deprived and I know I'll forget someone and I'll feel reeeeaaally, reeeeaaaallly badly.

Just know we plan on making lots of noise when names are announced!

Okay, gotta go get presentable -- no snickering!!

  11. Okay. So Now I'm officially jealous.

And waving to the sweet debut author Naomi Rawlings.

  23. Hi Tina:

    Thanks for posting the finalists.

I think the book most likely to win is “They Almost Always Come Home”. I wrote a review of this book when it first came out. I reposted that review on my Philosophy of Romance site today for those who would like see just how extraordinary this book really is. The author took great risks for a debut novel. It’s just amazing.

    http://vmres.blogspot.com/2011/09/its-only-novelits-only-novel.html

I think the most competitive category of all is the Short Contemporary. I’ll have to say a prayer for Ruth.

I’m also worried about “Courting Morrow Little” because it has been on so many people’s favorite books lists. I’ll be listening to the webcast tonight. Even I’m nervous.

Also, right now on Kindle, two of the finalists are available for free!

    "The Preacher's Bride", Jody Hedlund

"Love Finds You in Homestead", Iowa (Love Finds YouTM) Melanie Dobson

I’d download these right now. If they win, they may not be up there long!

BTW: I love all the pictures. Keep them coming. Do I see tears in Julie’s eyes in the picture taken at her home? What did you all do? : )

Ruth Logan Herne sold thanks to this contest.

    ****Permission to forward granted****

Now that the deadline is over, and we have all entries in, there are a few categories that were so low in entries, we might have to cancel them. Actually ALL categories are extremely low, but the ones in danger of being canceled are:
Romantic Suspense (especially low), Historical, YA, Mainstream. Series Contemporary and Inspirational are pretty low, too. Actually, the only category that isn't 'dangerously' low is Paranormal.

I will hold the contest open over the weekend (It will not delay any of the dates, we'll still stick to all the deadlines) BUT, if anyone would like to enter, please shoot me an email at FAB@... and let me know that your entry will be in by Monday morning, and we'll still accept it. I would hate to let any of the entrants know that we'll have to refuse their entries, so, if you have an entry that's eligible, now is a perfect time to enter.

The rule of any MS that hasn't won a contest by August 15th is still in place. (If you were waiting to hear back on a contest and the announcements hadn't been made by August 15, and you ended up taking first place, we'll still accept your entry since we're the ones who extended the deadline)

First round Judges: trained, published, and un-published.

***All finalists will have an opportunity to revise their entries after receiving the first round judge comments. A synopsis is required in the final round before entry is seen by the editors.

  29. Hi Tina:

I’m delighted to win “The Price of Victory” by Sandra Leesmith. I’m interested in bike racing. My sister-in-law coordinates the navy bike team and I know she’ll love to read it, too. This will be my first Leesmith book. Thanks’s to all.

    Vince

P.S. I’m excited because two of my best reviewed books are up for awards. I just have to add this from my “Winter’s End” review:

“Winter’s End” is the kind of book that critics love because it is serious and never panders to the reader just to make the reader feel good. It deals with painful subjects honestly and without any compromise. It shows suffering that is felt to the bone. It is direct and relentless. The action corresponds to actual experiences many older adults have endured.

P.P.S. As a fan I can be partisan.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, fans must be partisan. That's the point, right?

  79. Hi Tina:

Thanks for the running commentary. These posts are a good way to recap the winners. I’m a little in shock so I’m going home now and think about it.

    CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS.

BTW: Do you know why they had the fire behind the speakers? I kept looking for pitchforks. : )

  80. The live broadcast was fun. Thanks for the recap Tina. Congrats to the winners and finalist. I read all three books in several of the different categories and it had to have been very hard to pick a winner.

  81. LOL Vince I think they said it was a digital fireplace but I agree about looking for a pitchfork. It did look a bit too 'hot' IT wasn't as bad when the pulled back and showed the whole stage.

  82. LOL, no idea on the fire, Vince.

I am looking forward to the Seekers coming home!!

  91. I love all of you ladies so much! I can't wait to read my Seekerville so I can feel like I am right there with you! Please put me in the drawing for the 5 page critique. I really need to know if I have any talent at all to work with or if I can better serve God by praying over all of you and posting reviews...and of course READING your work! Thanks, Cheri Horgan
