  1. Great WE, Tina! Mega congrats to all the Genesis and Carol Award winners. Billions of entries and stiff competition. These contests are the most respected in the industry!

It's Sunday and time to pack up and come home. What an awesome time of friendship and fellowship were had in St Louis, but the real world calls once again.

Tina, Glynna, Missy. Thanks for keeping the home fires burning. We're coming home with lots of great stories to share!

Next year is only 361 days away...

  2. Good morning, Seekerville! I'm drinking coffee in the St. Louis airport terminal and using 20 min. of free wi-fi to say how much we missed you guys who weren't with us!

ACFW did a great job of putting on a wonderful conference. Kudos to the hotel staff, the serving staff (phenomenal) the cleanliness and ease of the Hyatt Regency at the Arch.

Had a great time.... Loved having time with Melissa Endlich and Wendy Lawton and the Awards Gala was amazing. It was much more low key the last time I went...

    Riding a brachiosaurus, I believe...

    ;)

And really, the folks putting it together did an amazing job. Wonderful!

Can't wait to get home. Grandbaby due any day. Dave's been wonderful, but he says he MISSES ME... Which means he has no clean shirts, LOL!

And the puppies want me home! Hugs to all of you and can't wait to go through all I missed!

And thank you, God, for Seekerville. And Seekervillagers.

  10. Hi Tina:

    Great show last night!

I just ordered the CDs. I got to see the awards and have CDs of the workshops and CE courses for around $100. That’s a lot less than going there. But next year in Dallas for sure.

I loved seeing all the fancy eveningwear. Everyone looked so good. I hope you have some toe-to-head photos from the awards ceremony.

I noticed that the people who give seminars were much more comfortable at the microphone. Lesson: give seminars and workshops.

Now I have to read the books the judges thought were better than my favorites. Also, I need to enter the Genesis next time. I wouldn’t be nervous at all accepting an award. : )

  11. Vince, you're going to Dallas? Well if you go then I am going. Seriously. Just to see you at conference would be worth the hassle. Otherwise I'll wait until it comes back to Denver.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Another great W.E., Tina! Love the photos! And thanks for the reminder about the CDs--ran right out and ordered them. Although I went to ACFW in 2009 & 2010, I listened to the CDs in my car all the following year. Packed with great, inspiring info! Cheryl Wyatt's hubby does a great job with the recording.

  13. Can someone please share the DATES for next year's Dallas conference????

  16. And on a random note, I was pretty jazzed to discover a few things today..I heard a rumor that A Log Cabin Christmas -the Heartsong Anthology with 9 authors including Erica Vetsch and Deb Ullrick, hit the Times List.

Can anyone confirm and provide a link?

Today discovered that Audrey Hepburn is following us. Hi Audrey!

  17. Tina, I can confirm. Here's a link

#34 on the Trade Fiction Paperback list - A LOG CABIN CHRISTMAS, by Wanda E. Brunstetter et al (Barbour)

Thank you so much for all the congratulations. Since I couldn't be there, celebrating with my friends from Seekerville last night made it special. Thank you!

  22. Ooops - I forgot to leave my congrats for Krista before. It was so easy to tell from reading your blogs that you're a natural storyteller. Can't wait for your book! Congrats again.

  26. Thank you, Tina! I'm pretty excited about it. Someone from church asked, "What does that mean?" Didn't know how to resond to that. How bizarre is that?

I keep thinking it's because of Wanda Brunstetter's name, but hey, it could be because of the cover, or some of us authors too. Righ? Either way, I'm going to enjoy the journey!

    ReplyDelete
  27. OOps, "it" being A Log Cabin Christmas being on the New York Times bestsellers' list. Whoo hoo!

    Doin' the cabbage patch skip!

Sorry, Snoopy dog! You've been replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks for making our weekend "home" so special. What a great "pity party"! I'm so glad I won a prize!
And thanks for sharing all your pics, so much fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congrats to the winners. How awesome for everyone.

I was thinking to wait until Denver too and then the conference would be close to home again, and they made me move.

When is it coming to Phoenix?

I hope to go next year myself, but we shall see.

Thanks so much for the special draw on the critique.

Where do I send it again?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Still happy dancing this morning!

I have to say, there were a lot of GREAT moments at this year's conference, but hanging with the Seekers and especially meeting Ruthy in person tops the list!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi Tina:

While everything is still fresh in people’s minds, how about a blog called “Conventional Wisdom”?

Have everyone who went to the ACFW conference give their hints and insights on attending the next one.

Didn’t the women look fabulous in their eveningwear!

    Next year in Dallas!

    Vince

  32. Hi Tina:

It just occurred to me that I did not see a category for Romantic Comedy in any of these contests or the Carol awards.

I write comedy. I can’t help myself. I think a writer is at a tremendous disadvantage entering a comedy in a traditional category. Biting seriousness seems to impress judges.

Do you know of any contests that have a category for Romantic Comedy? I think we need to correct this injustice!

    Vince

  33. Seekers:

Suggestion: I think the next time the Seekers are together that you make a roundtable discussion tape to post on YouTube. Make it spontaneous so all your personalities can be on display.

I’d also like to see nightly recaps of the day's events that we could watch on YouTube. All you need is a FLIP and a laptop. This would be a good way to build your platform.

I'll do it in Dallas if no one else steps up. : )

    Vince

    ReplyDelete
  34. There is a NYC chapter and the entire contest is romantic comedy. While rom com is still being published it is now under the guise of many other sub genres. The rom com of the late nineties early 2000's oversaturated the market. The comic type covers. etc.

Vince!! Fabulous idea on the nightly recaps. I love it.

    And for RWA as well.

  35. A little late... but CONGRATS to all the genesis and carol winners...

and THANK YOU for mentioning my fun news and for all the well-wishes!!!

  36. Congratulations Genesis and Carol winners!

Yay Krista!!! Congratulations on your sale to Abington!

Wonderful conference but great to be home. Once the laundry is done. LOL

Fun hanging with everyone in St. Louis! Can't imagine how I missed Gina Wellborne.
