Question about the query letter thing... if we're not interested in querying LI, is it still beneficial to enter that drawing? Or are those drawings geared toward people who want to sub to those editors?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ruthy introduces herself as Mary Connealy????

That explains so really agitated emails I've been getting!!!!

I shouldn't have criticized your barn, neither. At least it's not January this time!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Annie, yes, you can ask questions. But no questions such as...do you prefer Cottonelle over Charmin.

What's with the carbs and brownies? Not a darn thing. We just like to eat. A lot. Continuously.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Brownies so early. Are you trying to kill my cyber diet.

    LOL

Too funny that Ruthy introduced herself as Mary.

I introduce myself as different Authors, but I guess I should start picking the more recognized names.

You might etch my name into the Toshiba. I've been getting vibes.

  31. I just got this in a newsletter and will put the link in the WE ED.

To celebrate the 2012 mass market publication of FAMILY AFFAIR, a novella by #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber, Avon Books is hosting a Debbie Macomber-inspired online writing contest! Aspiring writers who participate in the "Make Your Dreams Come True" contest may find themselves enjoying an "American Idol"-type moment, as the winner receives a cash prize of $500, and the winning entry will be published in the back matter of the paperback and e-book edition of FAMILY AFFAIR, going on- sale in July 2012. In addition, the grand prize winner may also be offered an Avon Impulse publishing contract!

"This is a great opportunity for a new voice in romance to be discovered," says Liate Stehlik, Senior Vice President and Publisher of William Morrow/Avon Books. "It’s the publishing equivalent of ‘American Idol’ — entries will be reviewed by Avon editors, and the winner will be picked by Debbie Macomber herself. The possible exposure is amazing: the author is beloved by readers around the globe, and this short story could be read by millions of her fans."

Avon Books executive editor Lucia Macro states, "We’re hoping to discover a new voice in romance. We’re so excited to work with Debbie on this contest, and publish the winning entry along with the heartwarming novella FAMILY AFFAIR."

Contests entrants should go online to www.familyaffaircontest.com to submit their 20,000 — 25,000 word short story. Entries should be written in a style that complements Macomber’s own gentle, uplifting work.

Erica - I need to get my hands on that new one my friend. AND the NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER BOOK MAY just jump in my cart this week. My Walmart still had a couple [still had a couple of Mary books too] but none of the other Walmarts I was at yesterday had either...

  47. You guys sure know how to party! I LOVE brownies. I'm looking forward to next week, especially Friday--can't wait to read more about Love Inspired!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mmmmm! Those brownies sound decadent! I'm going to have to try them. :) The best thing about cyber brownies, is that even gluten free people (like me) can eat them. :) I like this site's food. :O)

Thank you for all you offer on your site. Your new one looks wonderful too! Looking forward to the upcoming posts. Happy Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sunday is a bad day to have a headache. Lots of family. You don't want to miss out on the visiting, so you don't get the rest you need. Things have calmed down now, and I had a chance to visit Seekerville village. I stopped by the Yankee-Belle and drooled over Ruthy's Dutch Apple pie. MMMM, looks so good.

I had a lovely sail back to the island to say hello again.

Congrats Ruthy, on the new grandbaby. I'm glad everyone is okay. Kiss his neck for me, that's where the best sugars are after all.

    Tina and Mary~

Can't wait to meet you in Tulsa. I'm getting more excited by the day. I may spontaneously combust before the 22nd. I'll try to avoid that, though

    ReplyDelete
  50. Stopping by to pick up a brownie. YUM!

Thanks, Seekers. You're such a generous group - with books as well as kindness. And food. Always food.

My daughter just came home with a late birthday present for me (as in a month and a half late). I'd been saying how much I was craving cinnamon sugar donuts but there was nowhere around here that seemed to sell them.

She bought me a donut pan and mix for cinnamon sugar donuts. Don't you have to adore a daughter who indulges your love for carbs.

So any day you want donuts for breakfast, just let me know! I'm planning on apple cider ones next.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Every day, it sounds like more and more fun ahead for Seekerville fans and writers!!! Hooray. And love the new website.

  52. Hey, everyone! I'm finally back home. The hotel had terrible internet. It kept very low signal and kept cutting out. Of course, the hotel is set for gutting (and maybe demolition) starting tomorrow! It's going to be totally redone. So they weren't too worried about the amenities like DSL (and like a towel shortage!). :)

But despite the hotel, the M&M conference was amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Everyone, Wow what a fun birthday bash and its only day two. woo hooo

I'm with you Debby, I want that printer too. But hey, its worth more than a printer to be a Seeker. woo hoo

WALT CONGRATS. I'm soooooooooooooo happy for you. I bet the whole South is holding their hands over their ears from all the shouting.

Happy birthday to us. Happy birthday to us.

TOM the new website is WONDERFUL. You're our true to life hero. woo hoooo Thanks for all you and the Teenster do.

Happy Happy birthday to us. Happy birthday to us.

Oh I'm so happy. Carol the cookies and brownies and cake are yummy. And yes Mary and Erica I will definitely side step past yours. Even if you did get the spiders out.

    Love you all.

  61. What a day.

    Wonderful. Crazy. Wonderful.

And I'm laughing at these comments while I'm bribing 18 month old 'Lijah with constant replays of Billy Currington's new single "Love Done Gone"....

Ba da da, da da da! Ba da da! Dah Dah Dah!

Oh my stars, I will have no trouble singing this for an instant video for Pam like I did with the them from PHINEAS AND FERB with PEPPER BASHAM!!!!

Yes, Melissa will pop in and out. And yes, for THIS contest you need to have a completed manuscript. Because you never know when they may have a spot to fill (says Ruthy who held her new book in her hands seven months after THE CALL)...

So the Ruthy motto is Girl Scout friendly: BE PREPARED.

But you never know what Melissa might throw your way come Friday, so BE HERE.

Tell your friends. It seems Melissa has heard about a certain other LI editor trying to STEAL the October limelight.

I'm here to say: Melissa Endlich does not like to be outdone. Ever.

So... Be here Friday. Take the time to comment. It will be WORTH YOUR WHILE....

    And then some.

And it doesn't matter if you're a reader or writer. We will be in a New York state of mind...

Which means things happen in a New York minute.

    :)

    'Sall I'm sayin'.

  79. Oh no! Pam...
You know, with youtube and instand online videos, I'm getting the sense that humans are a little more omni-present than I care to admit.

But seeing Case dancing on the tables is a MUST!!!

And Ruthy is SOOOOOO CUTE!!! It's worth me being embarrassed just to see her in action :-)
