Mary Connealy has TWO
books releasing this week. Yes it is a bit crazy but also really fun because I love my stories in both these collections. With this Ring?
Humorous Historical Romance Novella Collection Offers Love and Laughs.

Love isn't always a fairy tale, and it doesn't always go as planned. Sometimes the best stories, though, are the ones that are the most unexpected. Join Karen Witemeyer, Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Melissa Jagears for novellas that celebrate the power of love to triumph . . . even when circumstances go awry!

Mary Connealy's "Runaway Bride" finds a Texas ranger getting more than he expected when he rescues a young woman fleeing a dangerous arranged marriage.

9 Historical Romances Begin After Saying "I Do"

Come along on a romantic journey jam-packed with all the angst of marriages founded upon practical choices as well as coercion. Meet nine couples who barely know each other before they find themselves suddenly married to please family, to stem the tide of gossip, to save the land and joined for life. But can love grow when duty comes before romance?

Mary's contribution to this collection is Sweetwater Bride.

Tanner Harden, the just newly grown up son of Belle Tanner and Silas Harden, finds a woman in great need of help, except Debba doesn't see it that way. She's fine.

Since Tanner can't get her to agree to him saving her, he kidnaps her because of course he knows best how to manage her life.

He takes her to his ma, Belle, who isn't impressed with her son but is instantly in love with his kidnap victim.

His pa's mad at him too.

Honestly, a man just can't be a white knight anymore!

This collection features Angela Bell, Angela Breidenbach, Lisa Carter, Rebecca Jepson, Amy Lillard, Gina Welborn, Kathleen Y'Barbo, and Rose Ross Zediker.

  5. Congrats, Wilani (and all the other winners)!

I had an awesome NYE with my Seekerfriends. Thanks so much for the opportunity to host! ^_^

LOL, I have to admit, I clicked on the Kristine Kathryn Rusch article only because I recognized her name from authoring a Star Wars novel from the 90's. ;-)

  6. Thanks for a fun NYE, Seekerville!

Ruthy, your UG cover is gorgeous :) and the story sounds lovely. Adding that to my TBR stack!

  7. Good Heavens what a full post. Congratulations to the lucky winners. There will be some good posts to follow up with next week. I look forward to Mary Connealy's on Monday.

I read an excerpt from AN UNEXPECTED GROOM and it sounds like a book I will thoroughly enjoy. Touches of anger, regret, danger, and frustration - sounds good to me. Lovely cover.

  8. Kristine Kathryn Rusch looks way too young for the 90's. Thanks for that bit of trivia, Jennifer.

  12. TINA!!!! Thank you for the great graphics and promo for An Unexpected Groom!!!! I HAD SO MUCH FUN WRITING THIS BOOK!!!!!

A new series... a new family to explore, the Gallaghers of Grace Haven, a lovely, upscale town tucked along the Finger Lakes of Central New York.

AND HOLY HOT HEROES, BATMAN!!!! :)

And every man in this series is named for a fallen police officer of 2014, with the exception of Drew Slade... He's named for A.J. (Andrew) Sperr, killed in the line of duty near Big Flats, NY (Southern Tier) on March 1, 2006. His ten year anniversary is coming up. A.J. grew up in our church, his family has been part of our parish for a long time, and I have never seen anything like the amazing turn out for his funeral... Police from across the nation, people climbed up onto the school roof to see, roads were blocked for miles...

Each day men and women don a uniform and go out on patrol... and one traffic stop gone bad can change lives forever.

So for all of those who serve us, every day... This one's for you.

  21. What a great NYE party, so much fun! Congrats to all the winners, but I feel like a winner every week just being a part of Seekerville.

I've read The Unexpected Groom and loved it, you can't go wrong with a Ruthy book, she's tried and true!

I'm reading Tina's Rocky Mountain Reunion right now, another tried and true author, I love your work Tina.

Then it's on to The Sweetest Rain by our Myra and Fatal Reunion by new LIS author Robin Patch, her four indie books were a surprise find this year and I highly recommend them, funny and romantic, a great combination.

I'm taking down the rest of the Christmas decorations today, starting the new year and the new week of with a "clean slate". I'll be ready for Seekerville company next week too, haha.

Has everyone decided on their ONE WORD for 2016? I think mine's COMPASSION, based on
Eph. 4:32, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you", and
Lam 3:22 "Because of the Lord's Great Love for us we are not consumed, for His Compassions never fail".

Happy weekend everyone and a BIG THANK YOU to all the Seeker/Villagers for a wonderful year of friendship and encouragement. Ya'll are the BEST!

  23. Hi Wilani:

Believe it or not, I was hoping you would win the grand prize because you have my favorite name on Seekerville.

Every time I read "Wilani" I can 'hear' the words to "Sweet Leilani" and it makes me feel better. This is too strange to make up.

Watch this video and see if you can catch the wave, too!

  40. My brother just got my Christmas present to work. He got me a Wifi repeater. I live in their basement and the signal does not reach well to the basement. Now I will be able to be on the Internet easier and there will be a little less frustration. Hopefully. It is such an awesome gift. He was reading the signal on his phone. Upstairs at the router it was 73 in my apartment in the basement it was 7. Now I am getting the same as upstairs. I am very happy.

My ONE WORD for 2016 is PRAISE. I will strive to give the Lord PRAISE each and every day, and also strive to live so that others will see His love through me (yes, I will work very hard on that!).

  49. What a fun party! A huge turnout for sure! Congrats Wilani! Looks like you'll be able to get a ton of books with your prize ;)

Ruthy I love your idea of naming your characters after fallen real-life heroes. Very special.

I finally decided on my word for the new year: Grace. I'm going to need the enabling strength of Christ to help me with my hardest goal: Losing weight by breaking my sugar addiction, eating clean, and consistent exercise. I'm going with the Trim Healthy Mama plan that some of us were chatting about at the party, and I think the support group that some of us joined will be helpful. Thanks Annie JC for the invite!

Put my name in the dish for Ruthy's book! :)

  50. Have to say I love the hoopla that is New Year's Eve at Seekerville...even if I did ditch the party early in favour of my bed. Congrats to all the winners!

My One Word this year is Tearmann -- it's Irish, pronounced chairma if you want to get technical and translates to Sanctuary ; Refuge. My goal is be mindful that the Lord is my refuge no matter what circumstances I find myself in and to strive to be a sanctuary to my loved ones and people I meet throughout the year.

Oh -- and don't enter me in the draw for Ruthy's book. Mine is on order...hoping it will arrive this week along with some other great Love Inspired books. Already excited about reading them all!

  51. One Word Question

Does anyone know if your OneWord choice can be repeated for the next year?

My 2015 OneWord worked so well I want to keep it going in 2016. I know that I could just keep my old OneWord working in 2016 while picking a new OneWord for 2016 but that would defeat the purpose of having one focus.

Most years I will have forgotten my OneWord by midyear. This year I have kept applying it with great success.

Does anyone else want to kept last year's OneWord?

    Vince

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hi Vince,
I don't know that there are any "rules" concerning My One Word. I chose the word balance one year and just like you, I felt I still had much to do and learn about attaining a balanced life, so I repeated it the next year.

I can say, once I moved on from a year long focus on one word, the others didn't go away, they just built on each other. So, the last five years I've had restore, balance, balance, gratitude and now compassion. Combining them all as you go really shows how God is working in our life and growing our character.

  55. Hi Ruth:

    Amazing Light Bulb Moment!

I am currently working on an outline for a book on:

"How to Build the Marketing into your novel before you write the first word: Using a Global POV to Establish Writing Success"

Last night I was working on the chapter about the importance of selecting the most reader attracting settings. An assignment in that chapter was to write a Virtual Environmental Impact Statement on the selling power of your story's setting.

So this morning I took a break to read your Harlequin Blog post on "Grace Haven".

    (see: http://harlequinblog.com/2015/12/ruth-logan-herne-to-introduces-her-grace-haven-miniseries/comment-page-1/#comment-113027 )

I read it and the light bulbs went off all over the place!!! What you'd written is what I had in mind for my "Virtual Environmental Impact Statement"! It's a total selling job on the location!

I think every author needs to write such a statement before they even think about writing their story.

You are amazing! I never had anyone 'get it' before I even delivered it!

Now I wonder what else is exemplified in "An Unexpected Groom" that I talk about in my marketing book. Maybe I don't even need to write the book. All I have to do is tell people to read "An Unexpected Groom".

    Vince

  56. Wow - following Mr VINCE with a comment!!!
    Yippee! :)

There's Ruthy - doing her usual and "getting" it ahead of time. ;)

    Love it.

Well, happy HAPPY New Year 2016 everyone!
Congrats to that list of winners on NYE too. Great time was had by all obviously...

And YAY to Pepper - you won the May the K9 Spy set of ebooks!
So glad we got to participate in some small way.

We were swamped with friends and family for the past several weeks. All good, but focused.

Take care everyone. My one word (h/t to Jan Drexler for getting me thinking) is TRUST.

  59. I got an Amazon gift card and today I went to Amazon, forgetting the card, to buy Keurig k-pods (or whatever) for my husband and it cost me NOTHING..............

And now I'm mad because I should have gotten something FOR MYSELF WITH MY GIFT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Where is the justice???????????????????

    ReplyDelete
  60. Heidi Robbins, I think the Trim Healthy Mama rise is one of the best things to happen to us as women and to our country... And I don't say that lightly!!! It's a common sense approach that works for so many, and without breaking the bank.

That is an awesome goal for 2016!!! Tomorrow (after family leaves) I am locking up or tossing anything I shouldn't grab because it's just too easy if it's here... Calling me!!! Tempting me!!!! If it's not here and I've got cut up cheese and ham or pepperoni in the fridge, I don't even miss it.

    GO YOU!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. My doorknob hanger came today, too!!! THANK YOU, TINA!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Vince, I did that one year.... Sure, of course, why not? If that's working for you, go for it, my friend!!!!

I'm still waiting for inspiration on mine, if I made a list of things I should and could work on, it would be a fairly long list.... But that tends to be self-defeating, if I work on one specific area, I'm more likely to feel successful.

It will not have anything to do with baking or food, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Vince, I love you so much!!!

That blog came out of a talk with Melissa Endlich, my editor, and it's funny because getting Grace Haven right was really important to me, even to making the copy editors overlook a few things to keep the town as I envisioned it.

This isn't a hardship town, you know I've written plenty of those! And I have so much sympathy for places that have fallen on hard times, but Grace Haven is solid emotionally, spiritually, financially and with a core of good people running the show.

I had fun with that article, and I'm so glad she suggested it because blending the Gallagher family, Grace Haven, and the heros and heroines was so much fun.

    THANK YOU, VINCE!!!!!

  65. Hey, have any of you watched "War Room"?

    WHAT AN AWESOME MOVIE!!!!!

I loved it from beginning to end and just am in awe of how wonderfully they presented this story.

If I had 5 stars here, it would get 5 stars...

    WAIT!!!

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I saw War Room when it first came out and loved it so much I'm buying the DVD. Priscilla Shirer will tell you she's not an actress but she did a great job. She wrote a companion book on prayer which I've also read called Fervent, excellent! Each chapter starts out C S Lewis style, "if I were your enemy..." really powerful perspectives and lessons.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Mary, just buy yourself something and pay for it, and REMEMBER when the bill comes it was for hubbys coffee. That's what I did when I bought a gift with my credit, LOL. I'd print that one word REMEMBER out and tape it to my computer if I was you ;-)

    Working on my GH sub now. Better get back to it...;

  71. So excited to win a book from the New Year's Eve party! It was such fun. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

  72. Didn't get my door hangar yet, but I might not have requested it early enough. I will look forward to it.

Cindy W. I will be praying for your surgery.

Please enter me for Ruthy's book!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sandy, you're entered! And I hope you love it if/when you get it, it's just delightful... This hero is To Die For.... and he's tortured, just enough.... and he's got the CUTEST 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER!!!!!!

    Amy Sue Slade. :)

And the coolest dog, Rocky.... named after a K-9 that lives here in my town.

Oh, be still my heart, and we started with 3 books for this series, but we've already outlined #4 and I think I've got #5 down in my little brain... But that means I have to bring a couple of folks on board in books 3 and 4!!!! When you only have 3 sisters and a sister-in-law, you gotta come up with cousins or friends, right????

  74. RUTHY, I'm in on the Downton final season. I hope they do it justice and don't ruin it.

I know you are smarter than a fifth grader, but my third grade grandson is smarter than me in so many ways, haha. Some words stump me and like that meme we had awhile back, even auto correct sometimes say "I've got nothing" :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Well Ruthy, if Daryl Jackson hasn't found his place in this world by Grace Haven's book 4, I can see him and Josie Gallagher being the next up. After all, he loves to eat and she loves to cook. Am I getting warm or stone cold?

  76. Congratulations to Wilani and all the other winners! New Year's Eve here was such fun! I wish I could have sat on my laptop for the whole day, but my battery would never have lasted anyway. I came and went several times, trying to keep up with the comments, but there were SO MANY! Wow!!!

Ruthy, I love how you're naming the men in your new series. What a wonderful tribute!.

  77. Oh, and I meant to say this year my 'One Word' is "FOCUS" -- I really need to focus more on the specifics in my spiritual life, in all the little daily household things, as well as in my writing pursuits.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So excited about the first chapter critique! And congrats to all the winners!

My word for 2016 is GROW, which is my goal to do in my writing, in my day job, in my relationships and with God, and in my health (I've been on the Trim Healthy Mama plan, too).

    ReplyDelete
  79. What a blast at the NYE party!! It was wonderful to connect with all the authors and other readers. And OH MY all the comments what was it like 3252 or so? I heard that's a new record :-)
Congrats to all the winners of each hour & Wilani on the $200 gift card! Don't go spending it all in one place now *wink, wink*. A big THANK YOU to all of our very GENEROUS authors for the book prizes & gift cards offered throughout the night!!

Please toss my name in the cat dish for a copy of "An Unexpected Groom". I'd love to add me some more Ruthy books to my shelf.

Here's looking forward to another fantastic week at Seekerville....I'm especially excited about the chance at "Lassoed By Marriage" with Mary :-) Been looking forward to this collection!

  80. Tina, I was a children's librarian in a small county library. Since none of the others who worked there read romance (they did, but didn't realize it), I did much of the ordering for the romance books. I really miss it. Loved talking books with the patrons and making recommendations for books to read and authors to try.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I love the cover of the first book in your new series, Ruthy! It's so "wintery" but romantic! Happy New Year!

  82. What a great start of the year with An Unexpected Groom. I enjoy reading any book by Ruth Herne Logan. It would be a delight to win one. Thank you!

  83. Awesome NYE party! Congratulations to all the winners and to Wilani for winning the grand prize! Woohoo!

Ruthy, this cover is beautiful! Another exciting week for sure on Seekerville! Happy Weekend to all!

  84. Tracey, Daryl and Josie.... Ah, there were sparks, weren't there???? :)

But that's not book 4.... Maybe our elusive 5??? Whaddya think?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Carol, thank you!!!! I was just plain bothered by the current atmosphere about our policemen and women, and how things have erupted this year... It's sad. So honoring the fallen seemed like a quiet way of spreading support.

A few bad apples should never grab 95% of the headlines.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Carol, "Focus" is a great word. I used that a few years ago... It helped.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anna, good for you in all aspects, and I love seeing you over here!!!!

THM seems to be a solid ticket of sensible eating and pairing, and I love seeing it work for so many. And "Grow" is a wonderful visual for all aspects of life. Great word for a great lady!!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Trixi!!! It was so much fun, wasn't it?

Oh my stars, I had a ball, I'm so glad you guys did, too!

Tossing your name into the cat dish!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Pat, that sounds like the dream job for a voracious reader! Weren't you writing at one point, too? I thought so.... And if not, you probably should because you've got the solid background... or you can be a happy reader. How long ago did you leave the library?

I'm so glad you're over here!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Valri, thank you! And they sent me this cover just in time for me to write this marriage scene as you see it, in book two!!!! YAY!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Aw, Marilyn, thank you for your kind words!!! :)

I'm tossing your name into the cat dish, darling, I'm sure the cats don't mind me using it again this week!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. J.C./Annie, thank you!!!! And thank you for being such a fun party-goer on New Year's Eve. YOU ROCKED IT! :)

  93. I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I am resolving today that after my family leaves this evening, every smidge of unhealthy food (except for a couple of pints of Abbott's Frozen Custard) will be out of reach, out of sight or tossed.

Tomorrow begins a new work year and back to healthy eating... I am too tempted when the stuff is just sitting there, begging me to eat it!

    Begone, Russel Stover's chocolates!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I am also a Donwnton Abbey fan.

This will be another great Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  95. What a great NYE party. FInally catching up. Wsn't able to stay tuned because of prior commitments and moving on New Years day. We are all set up now in Tucson. Ready for a new year.

Congrats to all the winners. Yay! I love parties.

Don't listen to much music so was intrigued with all the music on You tube. Who knew? Anyway my favorites were Pam's niece and nephew singing, They were so sweet. And the ukulele group playing Good, Bad and Ugly theme. What a hoot.

    Happy New Years!

  96. I love Ruth's books and thank you for the opportunity to enter this drawing.

    May God bless you all!

  97. Hi Ruth:

    Canary in the mine warning?

It just occurred to me that your, "An Unexpected Groom," released January first along with, "The Bounty Hunter's Redemption," and, "Rocky Mountain Reunion," but it was not delivered to my Kindle like the others because it was not pre-ordered.

Since I am one of your 'auto-buy' fans, and since I didn't know about the January first release, your marketing efforts may need to be fortified.

Of course, I know you are releasing more books as time goes on and as you become more efficient in your production; however, each book deserves an equal outpouring of love and attention. It's even more important when you have a lot of children not to neglect any single one of them.

To assist you in this new year, I offer this wonderful prayer:

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!
That where there is hatred, I may bring love.
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness.
That where there is discord, I may bring harmony.
That where there is error, I may bring truth.
That where there is doubt, I may bring faith.
That where there is despair, I may bring hope.
That where there are shadows, I may bring light.
That where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort, than to be comforted.
To understand, than to be understood.
To love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Saying goodbye to 2015 was so much fun! Loved the NYE party here on Seekerville! Congrats to all the winners.

This year--2016--will be a good one for all of us. I'm sure of it! Lots of book contracts and writing successes in store for many, if not all of the Villagers! Claim it, ladies and gents!

Wishing you all the best in the New Year...and beyond! May all your dreams come true!

    Hugs!

  100. Congrats to the new releases, the weekly winners, and Wilani!

I would have been here sooner but ... I've been reading Rocky Mountain Reunion. Oh my. Such a heroine and hero, Tina! Yet another good read from the Seekers.

Interesting links - especially the Novel Experience's sections on writing malaise and be kind to yourself.

I've never done My One Word, but decided to choose "Do" for this year ... I keep hearing Yoda's voice saying, "Do. Or do not. There is no try." :-)

Thanks for the WE, Tina. And Happy New Year to all!

  102. Hi Debby:

Linda came running into the den, where I was watching the Jets lose their playoff spot, with a book in hand saying, "Look what I found in the bedroom, Debby's book that won the du Maurier award, "The Agent's Secret Past". The book looked like it had been read by at least a hundred people.

"I think we've both read it plus a few of your friends."

BTW: I see you are reading Tina's new release, "Rocky Mountain Reunion" while I'm reading Janet's, "The Bounty Hunter's Redemption". In this book the heroine, who was terrible abused by her dead husband, keeps evaluating the hero, who killed her outlaw husband, and whenever the hero does something nice, she wonders, "What would it be like to be married to a good man?" I find this to be a very powerful and emotional approach to watching a heroine fall in love (against her better judgment). Very refreshing.

  103. Hi librarypat, yep, I'm up tomorrow.

I'll try to not disappoint you but NYE party is a tough act to follow!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Hi Trixi we had fun on NYE didn't we? You were really a great part of the fun!

YAY 2016. A great kick off!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Tracey I keep MEANING to print out REMEMBER, but a shiny object distracts me and then it's all gone for a while....again!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sally I hope you like The Bossy Bridegroom but it's a little DIFFERENT! I have mentioned this, right?
Not as lighthearted as you'd expect with me.

    BRACE YOURSELF!

  107. Vince, that's one of my favorite hymns!!!!

And I can't believe I didn't send you one of the big editions of An Unexpected Groom. I would have sworn I did, the True Large Print size. I'm so sorry I didn't, because it's a delightful story!

I will work harder to keep everyone aware... although I'll tell you a couple of authors dropped me on facebook because they thought I promoted TOO MUCH, LOL! It is hard to make everyone happy and do everything right. But I'll try harder, my friend.

And I'm super pleased with Harlequin's efforts to get word out about books, to give Love Inspired its own "spot" with a blog and fun interaction... But you're right, I need to be on top of things. Thanks for hanging in there with me...

And be prepared for March because I have three books releasing "Back in the Saddle" 3/15, (Waterbrook, Double S Ranch series) "More Than a Promise" (Franciscan Media) 3/18, and "Toss the Bouquet" which is the paperback version of my "All Dressed Up in Love" novella set in Old City, Philadelphia.

I cannot even begin to tell you how this happened, but I'm delighted, so mark your calendar!!!!

    Mark two calendars! :)

  108. Phyllis, thank you for your kind words!!! You're welcome!

  109. I have picked my one word.... I kind of let it come to me. "Glory". To God give the glory.

Glory in the day, glory in the night, glory in grace.

One of my favorite Mass hymns is Foley's "Gloria", a beautiful rendition of singing Glory to God.

So that's what I'm going for in 2016. To God give the Glory.... as it should be.

  111. Hi Ruth:

So many releases! So little time! It must be nice. It looks like you are going to create your own "March Madness". Don't worry about sending me any books. I always buy a Kindle version of a book for all the Kindle features (like extra large type, search, light screen, plus cut and paste. I also want my reviews to be 'verified'. I like reviews where the review has some 'skin in the game' -- that is, they paid for the book and will be reading it much like most average readers will be reading it.

Besides I like to pre-order Love Inspired books. It's like getting a surprise gift a few months down the road.

Oh, yes, I now have "An Unexpected Groom" on my Kindle. All set to go. I just have to see how "Grace Haven" stacks up against "Kirkwood Lake".

  112. Hi Ruth:

I just read your OneWord 'Glory'.

This makes me think of when I first came to Oklahoma, about 45 years ago, and I walked into a room and heard a preacher on TV say:

"God is the spout where the glory comes out."

I never forgot that line. I really liked it.

  113. March Madness!!!! Or the Ides, perhaps???? And it's Easter and Holy Week at the end of March and in the Catholic church, those triduum services are absolutely beautiful. Such a prayerful time, so this year there will be prayers of amazing gratitude ringing with whatever else needs to be turned over to God.

With 4 boys, March Madness wasn't a phrase around here... it was a three week long mode of insanity.

We still do brackets over the Internet. Family tradition!!! HEY! We should do a Seekerville Bracketology!!!! Tina wouldn't mind!!!! Laughing!

Okay, I won't send you a big book, and huge, huge, huge thank yous for buying those books, Vince. That just makes me smile. :) I'm so grateful!!!
