  2. Hi Tina:

You've appeared so often in Woman's World that I'm beginning to think that it was you who put the 'Woman' in Woman's World .

Are you ready for that trip to Tuscany?

  3. Do You Remember…

I'm thinking about New Year's Eve and I'm wondering about the Fortune teller who used to appeard on Seekerville. Was she Madame S or did her name begin with a Z?

Madame S had the best hat! Well, maybe the early Pepper Basham, had better hats…but it would be close.

Just wondering and thinking back over ten years to find something for Ruth's post.

  4. Hi Ruth:

You're right. I just loved "The Lawman's Second Chance". It's my favorite book you wrote…along with "Red Kettle Christmas". I hope anyone who did not read Friday's post will go back today and check it out. Both books have the solid feel of non-fiction and the advantage of very serious streams of conflict. Both the hero and the heroine face conflicts which make the likelihood of a marriage very unlikely. How they overcome these conflicts is really a story in itself. (It's worth reading just to see how you managed this!)

Reading your 'Best of Archives' post yesterday made me want to read a non-fiction novella-length book that told the story covered in the post with details, real life methods of support and inspirational help listed. This includes updates and photos. I like "The Writing of…" books.

"The Writing of the Lawman's Second Chance" and the Power of Faith, Love, and Inspiration.

I can visualize the book right now. Of course, the title is subject to change.:)

  5. "Love's Healing"
    Great Winter Reading!

I've pre-ordered my copy of "Love's Healing" to read the first nasty winter day to come to Tulsa! I don't know any writer who can do landscape and setting descriptions better. I know this for a fact because I've been to many of the locations in her books. It's like visiting these much loved locations again! In fact, I'm a avid Southwest genre lover and I like Sandra's southwest animal folktales the most.

Can't wait to jump into that Hawaiian water and hang ten…vicariously, of course. Well, I will wait for the first snow. : )

    1. Awww Vince, You've made my day. Now I'm worried that I don't disappoint. Yikes. You put on the pressure. LOL But thank you for the compliments. Writing the book brought back so many memories of when I used to surf. Notice I said memories. There is a time and a season. LOL

    2. Hi Sandra:

You have memories of when you surfed. I was in the surf capital in the days of the Beach Boys and I only have memories of 'trying to surf'. But there is always the vicarious! That's why I love books with great description and lots of vivid five-sensing. You can do it because you've done it. Not to worry.

    1. There have been a lot of posts that have been extra special, but I can't choose just one. I would say my favorite memories are the willingness of all the Seekers and the Seeker Villagers to reach out to others and extend prayers and comforting when we need it most. So many of you helped me through my knee replacement surgery in early January 2016 and you were there with me again when I was caring for my Mom and then when she passed you were there again and it meant so VERY, VERY much to me. I can never thank you for your kindness, prayers and sharing of yourselves. I love you all.

This would have to be my favorite also. I believe that just knowing good people are praying for you strengthens the immune system. I also think this gives God a helping hand in healing others.

      Seekerville is a good place.

    6. Hi Ruth:

Of course you can use any memories I've posted on Seekerville. It's fun!

Here is a memory from just last night at the Hard Rock Casino. We went to see the "Million Dollar Quartet" and when Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis sang "Peace in the Valley" all I could see in my mind's eye was the cover of your book!!!

And that's 100% vivid and true memory.

Tina's story (Woman's World Dec 11 issue) and Jill Weatherholt's story (Woman's World Dec 4 issue) are CHARMING. Don't miss them! BOTH issues are now on the stands at my Walmart (they're in the rack by the check out and now with a clever divider tab between the two latest issues so that if you didn't get to the store the previous week you can still get the previous week's issue in addition to the current one!). Smart marketing, eh, Vince? :)

    2. Hi Glynna:

I wish most stores would do that when two issues are out at the same time. In Tulsa, however, I have found that everyone I go to removes the old issue the moment the new one comes in. They don't want customers buying the old issue and then becoming irate when they find out it's not the current issue. (It does not take long for customers to pick up the old issue in the back and put it back in front.)

My wife is going to Wal-Mart right now. She's going to try to buy both issues of WW. Can you pray in good faith for something like that? :)

      Delete
    3. No tree yet. In fact its 80 degrees and I'm heading for the swimming pool. LOL Went to a Christmas party last night and had to go find a Christmas blouse. Too hot for Christmas sweaters.

    6. I wish my Walmart did that. I don't go shopping often, and that would have been marvelous! Two issues in one place!!!

    7. Vince & Ruthy -- I thought the nice WW divider at Walmart with a tab that sticks up between the two issues--current and previous--must be national, but it doesn't sound like it is.

    8. Julie -- I've actually gotten to watch a few of the Hallmark Christmas movies this year! Usually I'm under a book deadline so there's not a single second free, but I'm between contracts and working up my next proposal so caught a few at T-giving.

Without any "spoilers" are there any of the Hallmarks in particular you or other Villagers would recommend as "don't miss!"?

    9. Sandra -- I can't believe you're running around in 80 degree weather. Get yourself back up the mountain right this minute! :) Highs to be in the low 40s/upper 30s this coming week. But still NO SNOW yet. One of the driest autumns in 100 years.

    10. Jill -- first week of NOVEMBER? Did I read that right???? :)

      Delete
    11. Terri - we love reminiscing about the ornaments, too...some of which my Texas grandma made, ones my sister and I made, ones picked up on vacations or that friends/family shared from their vacations, ones that were gifts from love ones, etc. Special memories associated with so many!

      Delete
    12. Hi Glynna: After reading your post my wife went to Wal-Mart and looked for both issues of WW. There was no divider but at the very back there was a back issue. So I got both issues and have already read both romance stories. (There are also good mystery stories in WW.)

Linda knew to look at the back because of your post. Thanks.

    2. Hi Myra:

I know how you feel. We are having a funeral almost every week. As it is said in the Bible:

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

"A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;"

Yes, there is a time to die but there also is a 'season' of death when we become of dying age ourselves. A season of grief and a time when we learn more deeply the value of belief and faith.

      Vince

      Delete
    3. Vince, you are so right. Hubby and I were saying the same thing the other day. We have been dealing with a dearly beloved cousin who is dying and we're noticing how many of the deaths these days are our peers and family. Yikes. Well it makes you treasure every minute doesn't it?

      Delete
    4. Well... we only get so many minutes on the planet. I know that sounds curt, but if everyone looked at that seriously, from a younger age, I think we'd all be more thoughtful and giving and caring.

Is that me being naive again????

      Delete
    5. Ruth: I think old age is when you finally discover that all the nonsense and cliches your parents ever told you...were true!

The trouble with experience is that you always learn things too late.

    1. Oh, Marcia, thank you! I'm praying too, I think we all are here because cancer has touched so many of us.

And I'm so very excited about the current leaps and bounds of targeted immunotherapy... now if they can get it to replicate quickly enough, AND identify the right tiniest of tiny proteins or amino acids or peptides or whatever marker they can find that differentiates each cancer... then those tiny, armor-carrying T-cells can run rampant and raise the battle cry inside our bodies.

I'm so sorry you lost your dad way back then. We've seen that far too often. Or parents, burying children. Let's join hands and pray for a cure together. I'm all over that!!!

  24. Yay another great Weekend Edition. I love all the announcements and congrats to all the winners. What a great weekend. December weekends are the best. Lots of fun activities. But it isn't feeling very wintery around here. The snow birds are loving the warm sunshine. Me too.

And memories of Seekerville. I can't begin to count them. I feel blessed every day and humbled by the comments and caring from all of you. We are a community of writers. Have a wonderful weekend.

  27. Fabulous weekend edition. I had to jump on board late today because my husband is visiting family in PA and my son and I have had mother son dates for the past few days. It is so cool having a 22 year old who wants to hang out with you. :)

I just picked up the latest Woman's World and dived in on a subscription. How can I not when so many of my favorite romance writers keep popping up?

Hope you are all having a beautiful and blessed weekend!

    1. You look way too young to have a 22 year old son. You've mentioned your son before and I thought he was like 12. HA!

    2. Kelly, did you know that a shout out from another author about my debut novel... gosh, seven years ago... caused it to sell out in three weeks? That magazine has power, it's well priced, well-positioned and people love it!!! Good for you on the subscription!!!!

  28. Wonderful WE and there are some great links. I feel like the links this week were chosen just for me!

Jill and Tina congratulations on your Woman's World stories. Those are tough to write. I started one. Now I have several thousand words of a novella. Writing short is hard!

I'm looking forward to all the great posts next week.

    1. Terri, Cheryl Wyatt (one of the original Seekers) taught me the breakthrough for how to really trim a story and it's advice I've carried through all these years... to go back and look at each sentence, each phrasing, each paragraph and see if there was a way to say it shorter and better.

It sounds time consuming, but it's such a help to me! I prattle... and you can't prattle in novellas and short books!

The other thing is the sharp arc... In a novella the actions/reactions have to start quickly, wind up... like an old-fashioned kid's Christmas wind-up toy... then spin down... without sounding rushed.

I leave out a lot of the descriptors I might use in a bigger book. I keep the secondary cast present, but not as explained and I focus on those hero/heroine scenes.

And I try to picture the scenes like a good Hallmark movie! That helps them flow.

  29. Happy Weekend, everyone! Lots of fun comments today, especially those with memories of Seekerville!

We have our decorations up. With three trees and Dickens Village pieces, putting them up took a while. Lots of memories come with the ornaments, some are homemade, some were purchased in our early married days. I love setting out the Santa and the three Wise men I painted when our kids were little and I was eager to escape the house for an evening with grownups. LOL Still being their mom is the best thing I've ever done.

  30. Thank you Terri and Lenora for the copy of Classified K9 Unit Christmas!

Congrats to all the winners. And just look at all the Seeker stories waiting to be read. Fantastic!

And oh wow is that a line-up of posts for next week! Then again, how could it not be a good week if it includes National Blue Jeans Day?

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

  31. Sorry I am slow in chiming in this weekend. For those who have been praying for my mystery pain. I am so much better and it is wonderful to be able to eat again. The procedure on Friday revealed there was nothing major wrong so I was told it was ok to eat whatever I want. The Lord is good. I have had a restful weekend recovering from the anesthesia and affects from the procedure. Now to get ready for Christmas. Have a greet week everyone.

Tina's edition of Womans World was not at my Walmart on Friday, but I did get Jill Wetherholt's edition and her story was awesome. Now to find Tina's and I will be very happy.

  33. "Pamper Yourself with a Chocolate Spa Treatment!"

Yep…that's the title of a two page color spread in Tina's issue of WW on pages 12 and 13. Just in case anyone needed an additional to get a copy! Sounds like a great gift for the Seeker who has everything!

  34. But wouldn't having a chocolate spa treatment make an interesting surprise in a romance novel? Sweet!
